First time homeowner here. Highland, in SATX rules! Very quality home with standard 10’ ft. ceilings. My office is grand with 12’ft ceilings of practicality. Kitchen, bathroom, and living room were my focal points. I really wished i could’ve opted for the 3 car garage, but this home isn’t my retirement home. Overall, Highland has beautiful floor plans, that are second to none! Retired Veterans who have traveled the globe and finally want a systematic layout that is very practical to living to enjoy those retirement years, will definitely appreciate HIGHLAND Homes! 🥂 Cheers to Highland for making my dreams come true!!
I’m on my 3rd Highland. My first home was a Horizon home (Highland product) and I’ve never been disappointed. They’re the only ones I trust. Great quality homes!
Building in painted tree rn with Tripointe. I feel like they are the underdog that give a ton more for less. Of the three builders in McKinney - Tri pointe, david weekly, and highland homes, they are all good builders. But Tripointe has the best layout imo.
@@mortalron5123 when I got it, it was the Ethan model for starting around 620k (edit// just checked, it is 662k base now). It was a more expensive model but better layout. For the same type of layout (Roland) for David weekly it started around 670k. Tripointe had a 60’ lot, 3500sqft, Better upgrades for long term value (expanded patio, extra bath, media room) David weekly had a 50’ lot, 3000sqft, lacks the media room due to sqft restriction but 10 homes have the media room and are bigger because they signed their contract befor the restriction hit.), and overall more expensive.
15-20k is pretty standard with them. I think I’ve seen them at 25 before in some communities. Just depends on community/season. Also depends on inventory or build. They are usually really good about doing both design and closing costs if you’re building. They also have the ability to negotiate and are one of my favorite builders to help people get a home with. So while that’s what the advertise I’ve seen and had deals where it’s been more.
Great Video! Is there a single location that rates different contractors these builders hire? I believe Highland shares the contractor that built the specific home. Would be great to have the option to pick a better rated contractor if there are two of the same spec houses build by different contractors.
In my experience no builder is going to let you pick your contractors. Most of them are not going to share their list of contractors. They’ll give you contact information for the big companies that they use like HVAC and electrical. But as far as that’s not going to happen. It would be an absolute nightmare for them to manage that. The only way you’re going to pick go through that is if you go fully custom and you are your own project manager
A few years ago I was close to purchasing a home from Highland. During negotiations for a semi custom build on a vacant lot, they informed me the lot sold. Sold? To who. My realtor. Maybe only the manager of this subdivision was scuzzy, but needless to say I walked away.
Lubbock is not humid, has some great prices for homes. What $400,000 in DFW gets you maybe around 2,000 sq feet it will get you 3,000 with better finishes in Lubbock. Now you won't have all the options DFW gives you, but there are plenty of resteraunts and Texas Tech athletics there to keep you entertained.

Is 20k incentives the best they do based on your experience with them?

Awesome Glad you are loving your Highland Home. They are one of my favorite builders here in Texas! Stay well my friend!
Are there any regions in Texas that are not humid?
West Texas and the panhandle area would be less humid. DFW is definitely not as humid as say Houston or down along the coast.
