    Very late in the piece but thankyou for your vids on the Viper 90mm.
    My next purchase when they get back in stock.
    I have an LX MiG-29 twin 70mm EDF with 3d thrust vectoring that does high alpha with ease... though the ailerons are mixed with the Tailerons/elevators and makes the mig a doddle to fly.. add the 3d TV and it's almost impossible to lose. Whole thing is a lifting body with lots of area. Trying high alpha on the Viper is a brave move with something that does stall quite violently but again practice makes perfect (ish)
    Thank you again for cementing my decision to get the bigger Viper!

    You do a great job landing - fly the plane down to the runway - just like a real high-performance aircraft. Many guys stall the aircraft during landing which is a common procedure on low performance aircraft. (I learned that when training to fly real airplanes - Cessna's and Piper's. When I transitioned to high performance aircraft, I was taught to fly the airplane down to the runway.)
    I wish Horizon Hobby would modify the airfoil to give these Vipers a more gentle stall characteristic...

    I have an NX6 transmitter and I believe I would not have enough channels for reverse thrust on the 90? I know there's a 7th channel but with no pluggable port.
    Looking at the 90 manual, port:
    1 is throttle
    2 is alieron
    3 is elevator
    4 is rudder
    5 is retracts and
    6 is flaps.

    • @TwoBrosRC

      The 7th channel should be assignable to the thrust reverse channel which isn't a physical port. Chat with us on Discord about it and it'll be easier to understand: bit.ly/TBRCDiscord

    I have both of these jets. I would ad that in thier stock configuration neither stall that easy. But I have them both set up by the book. I have to really be in a bad spot to get any kinda stall. But compared to military edf jets these two jets are ultra forgiving. To highlight that fact . I've only been flying rc for 5 months.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому

      They both stall rather easily if airspeed drops in a banked turn where elevator is applied. The 70 much more so than the 90. That's one reason why we recommend it as a trainer jet. It teaches stall recovery that other beginner jets won't.

    • @ladyhawk7408
      @ladyhawk7408 Рік тому +1

      @@TwoBrosRC well yeah, but that is just basic airmenship 101, if you take enough energy out of a apprentice and jerk the stick back. it will easily stall. I am speaking more to being with in a stable flight envelope. which is what I meant by being in a bad spot. Low slow and aggressive inputs have ended more than a few GA pilots on final approaches and traffic pattern stalls. Bringing my GA experience to RC not only saves my life in a real airplane but has saved my RC airplanes on the ground. ;)

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому

      @@ladyhawk7408 It's unfortunately not basic airmanship because many RC pilots don't understand what we just mentioned. It's basic airmanship for *you* because you've got full scale experience. A lot of RC pilots don't know much more about aircraft other than "it goes fast so it must fly" - the level of aerodynamic understanding is sorely lacking. Apologies if it came off like we were talking down to you at all.

  • @madsloper

    I recently purchased a viper V2 70mm and I couldn't get it to stall with flaps, crow and full elevator into the wind. Although, my throws are less than the recommended by the manual it still has a good roll rate. Maybe, you guys have too high a rates for the 70 mm and this is what's causing it to stall. Great video very helpful and entertaining.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  6 місяців тому +1

      Not having enough travel is bad in its own way. Not being able to stall a model means you have very limited control authority and can easily crash into obstacles that you won't be able to avoid.

    • @madsloper
      @madsloper 6 місяців тому

      @@TwoBrosRC I've never personally had a situation where I crashed into something caused by too little control, usually most people crash because of over control in my 42 years of experience flying RC. Something you might want to inform pilots in your videos is that the plane will stall with the recommended control throws but you the pilot could reduce the control throws and possibly avoid stalling the aircraft. Just a thought.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому +1

      Manual recommendations are great for CG on this jet, but we'd recommend maxing out travels (150% rates) and using innermost control horn holes on the surfaces to make the jet more responsive, especially during landings.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 роки тому +1

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 роки тому +4

      There's not much of a comparison. The F-16 isn't as fast or as agile as the 90 Viper. It's also not as capable of alpha passes. It does excel in scale appearance though. I prefer the Viper 90 - it's really just one of the best jets on the market right now.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 роки тому +1

      I haven't fudged with the CG much - honestly there isn't much you can do besides adding weight under the rudder to get it to balance neutral, and I didn't want to add weight because it'll reduce the jet's ability to perform some of the maneuvers on display here. The furthest point of recommended CG in the manual is about where I balance it. 6k packs get shoved all the way to the back, same with 5200 packs. If I'm planning alpha, though, it flies with less wing rocking if the 5200 pack is moved to the center of the middle battery strap.
