Thank you for sharing! Your information has been very helpful to my husband and I. We have been contemplating about moving to Orlando. We go to Disney when we can and love shopping and dining at the Disney Springs. Thank you for doing what you do!
Moved to Orlando in 2017. Left in 2021 and moved to north Georgia. Way better and we’re only a 6 hour drive to Disney. We leave at 5am and roll into disney by noon.
Thanks Dan & Leslie for being transparent with your moving expenses. We just booked the UHAUL from NY to FL & its about $3200 for a 20 foot truck & trailer for our vehicle. We are budgeting about $1,000 for gas & tolls for the UHAUL & our personal vehicle. Hope this helps anyone who is moving from the Northeast.
We sold our home in Sept 2021 to become full time campers in our 5th wheel. Sold tons of stuff from our house on Facebook! I would never want to buy a house again, love the camping life! So, if we move again, we just bring our house with us!! After living in our camper for over a year, you really don't think of it as a camper, just a smaller version of a house, and much easier to take care of too! Have more time to do other things! We are in our mid fiftys, so our two daughters have been out of the house for years now! We just have two dogs. One truck is all we need since my husband has a company vehicle. I am hoping my husband gets tired of this coming winter so we can move south!! In fact, there are a few people here that live in Florida for the winter then come back here to PA in the summer, of course they are retired!!
I really appreciate how indeapth you went on expenses. I am planning on moving from Ohio to Haines City early next year and this video had the most helpful information about moving costs. Thank you
Thanks for posting this! We’re making the move from Massachusetts to Minneola 6 weeks from tomorrow! Just booked a 26-foot UHaul with a wheel dolly to tow one of our cars. $3200 for 7 days. We can’t wait to start our new adventure!!
Both my neighbors had semi trucks & watched & micro managed their movers as they moved boxes into their house. One of the trucks was a connecting semi truck. Never seen anything like it.
Sounds like a military move. We’re a military family and every move has been like that. One of us is required to stand outside and mark off the inventory sheet. It might look like micromanaging but it’s just how those moves are done. Even on the civilian side, you still have an inventory sheet that needs verified as the boxes come off the truck.
I so agree about the moving. By the time you paid to move and then we had to store some stuff. Yes, there was some family hand me downs....there's that emotional attachment. But cost wise, I'm thinking we should have sold/given away more of the stuff so we wouldn't have to move as much stuff. It actually would have been cheaper just to scrap most everything and just by new. Plus, we couldn't donate our sleeper sofa...we actually had to pay for them to get rid of it.
As a fellow swamp resident I would recommend keeping your flood insurance 😉. Even if you get lucky for a couple years all it takes is that one time or "perfect storm" and 💰 🤑. I've known too many people who were lulled by a couple "slow hurricane 🌀 seasons" only to get a very bad surprise of the flooding kind.
Hi Dan & Leslie. My wife and I are moving down soon as we just purchased in central Florida. I was thinking of getting a generator as well. Did you have a whole house generator and what size and did you go with Generac. Do you have cable or something like UA-cam TV. Your videos are extremely informative and helpful. Thanks so much. Always look forward to these videos from you.
Do not underestimate the value of a full service company. If you have seriously heavy items like a full sized safe it can be worth it. I've used full service companies in the past and I'll be doing it again for our upcoming move. They come in and they pack without sentimentality, they pack to reduce the odds of damage. So it's done in 1-2 days. You label everything well and they put it all away for you. You're done within a few days and ready to start living life. I'll have a newborn in September and someone else can do the packing. I'll be in my bed until they carry it away...
WOW! you guys new meticulous with record keeping. Do you want to be my accountant? :-) I've been considering buying a 2nd home in Orlando, thank you for the clarification on unseen/unexpected costs. I think I may to save a little more first.
Lol, it changes depending on our mood. Sometimes we want to see family vlogs of people enjoying life, we always watch news vlogs to make sure we haven’t missed anything, we love food reviews, and are always up for the latest “best of” or “top ten” video.
“Nitty Gritty”? Language🤣….Thanks for sharing guys enjoying the videos and the podcast👍🏻…..didn’t y’all do the amazon echo smart home thing too? Or am I remembering wrong? I though you mentioned that before?

Great idea with the Uhauls! May have to do that!
Really enjoyed this video! I’m a numbers person and it was really interesting to hear the breakdown.
Thanks 🙏

That’s very cool! I don’t think I could do it long-term, but it sounds fun to spend a few months in an RV on the road.
Thanks for sharing!! I LOVE the numbers aspect. It helps put into perspective the actual items that we need to consider.
Great video! Thanks for the details and insight into all the expenses :)
this was extremely helpful, thanks!

No, we had a generac on our first home in Oklahoma and literally never used it. We got a Champion 7500 watt dual fuel. Cheaper and portable

Lol, trust us, if we could have afforded it on top of everything else…
Please put the podcast on UA-cam 🏰

We got a moving quote from Massachusetts to Clermont from United Van lines for $22388 plus $6000 for shipping 4 cars 😂
Worth every penny to escape MA!
@@tomg3323 I agree can’t wait to get out of Massachusetts, weather is awful and everything is expensive here.

😂 We do use Alexa, but mainly just for timers or to tell her to play something on the speaker we have.
