Gaming has taught me a lot and the most important is to always wait for a sale. Never pre order and if you can only buy games aftr 2 to 3yrs aftr launch bcoz by then its already patched up and on sale.
You're so right about that particular lesson from Cyberpunk 2077. Near the beginning of the game, Misty telling me that as long as I'm alive, there is always hope always stuck to me. I clung to those words throughout my first playthrough and did everything to save myself, which lead me to signing a deal with the devil - Arasaka. Which, in turn made my friends, including Misty, so disappointed at me, and basically me losing my humanity. You brought up Viktor in the end, but Misty I think is also the same. She left Night City but found herself missing the city life and returned. And despite her being unassuming, just living her day to day life in her shop as a tarot card reader, not really having the bombastic personalities of V, Panam, Judy, and others, Misty is doing better than them in terms of living in Night City. And yeah, that may be it. Maybe because she tries to give more to the city and it's people than what she takes that she's able to survive in Night City better than most people in it.
The scene where Geralt discovered Ciri truly changed me. I felt like I got to experience fatherhood as a woman who is not yet a mother. Deeply moving and gave me a lot of respect for fathers.
The BioShock series respectfully explores various philosophical themes, such as objectivism, collectivist ideals, and the concept of sameness. It is one of those games that sparked my interest in philosophy. I am surprised that BioShock is not mentioned here.
I never really thought about what lessons games taught me. Definitely interesting to think about this. I love story driven games because they give me insights into perspectives I would otherwise never see or experience.
Nice to see someone talk about furi, you really nailed them all, a really perfect video, another games could be both The Talos Principle, with its humanism, mortality and transcendence themes and Soma with its consciousness approach.
Talos would be a great one seen some other good suggestions too, can include them in future stuff. Talked about Talos in some of my other videos too. Thanks for the kind words and support!
It was always interesting to me how people perceived Friedrich Nietzsches "God is dead" quote as a triumphant proclamation when in reality its a profound and somber reflection that is saying the world is changing and maybe not for the better.

i really enjoyed the video but i think you should be cautious of spoilers for the games that you talk about. either tell people that youre about to spoil big parts of the game, or try to avoid talking about spoilers at all if possible
Didn't know you could make vids without mentioning Prey 2017 ;) Just kidding, I love your vids (and Prey 2017!). I do think it's a great game for learning about thinking outside the box, so maybe it should have been featured in this vid too. Great vid, thanks!
The Pyramid Song quest in Cyberpunk left with such a mix of emotions I couldn’t do anything until I could process everything and to this day I still think about it
You pointed out all the games I would expect to find in this kind of video and some more. I wanted to give Outher Wilds as an example but you already said all that needs to be said so I will give another example that is more personal to me. In Cyberpunk I somehow manage to make my character look almost exactly like me( I'm bald so this is happening often to me but never at this degree). So at the end of the game I chose to play as Johnny and fight myself. Seeing myself in desperate anger and then in the end in a pitiful state had a profound effect on me. The idea of perception and how other see me was overwhelming. Never felt this before to such an extend
Such Zen content; whenever I watch one of your videos, it's after-work, kids are in bed for the night, and I crack a beer and just chill with the story telling.
From the moment i knew myself and why i play games.. i was for the deeper meaning, philosophy, because the most important reason of playing games for me is learning.. ppl learn from their books or educational videos and movies, but its only imagining things or just watching..you can't do anything else.. But the games are the most complete way of learning.. Cuz you can experience that thing you want to learn.. You can be there and see everything for yourself and have your take on it instead of what narrator is saying..
"What can change the nature of a man?" is a blatantly stolen quote from Planescape: Torment. One of the most philosophical games out there. The game that left such a huge impact on me, that it actually made me study philosophy at university. But it is a great quote, so I'll let it slide.
