Hoyt GMX 3 Series Scoring at 70 Meters for a 72 arrow round

  • How well does the GMX 3 Series from Hoyt Archery shoot at 70 meters? I shoot a 72 arrow scoring round at 70M with my GMX 3 series riser and run into a few concerns with the geometry that may need more time spent on stabilizer setup than in the past. The GMX 3 Series riser is very stable at full draw but was not very responsive in regards to the aiming pattern and user input.

    High-lows and string humming combined with the lower grip position leads me to believe that setting the bow to an even or at least less positive tiller would be beneficial.

      Thinking along the same lines…. This is when companies posting data along with their bow releases to help guide the public in initial setup or changes from “standard” may be beneficial.
      I aim to change this.

    Don’t you love that you can tell where the arrow lands by how it sounds? Especially the woodpecker.

    Absolutely love these videos with shooting to score and in depth analysis. Probably my cognitive confirmation bias but I thought there was some correlation between good shots and the bow jumping out of the hand a little better?? Maybe the sound feedback too. Fantastic content. Many thanks.

    I've been expirimnting bare finger shooting. Painful for sure. Finger tension settles itself. A few bare finger shots have been about the best shots I ever had. It's hard switching back and forth. 60 lb. recurve. Can't do much more than 30 shots but feeling how the string rolls on the draw helped me stop clutching the string improving my hook. Learning the slow and painful way.

    Very cool! What weight are the the limbs? Axia coming in same weight? Great video to watch btw!

    Please compare the NS to the Axia when you get them in. That would be interesting to hear your opinion on the two traditional profile limbs shot in the same bow. NS legends vs. the new Axias.

  • @ZephrusPrime
    @ZephrusPrime 9 місяців тому

    I noticed that many Korean shooters opted to leave the new XD and go back to the Exceed with ILF Axias instead (including Kim Woo-Jin). I wonder if that new grip geometry had anything to do with that and the way they like to keep the balance of their set ups.

    When I was shooting mine I noticed it was unruly when I had a med or low grip on it I think cause of the grip placement.

  • @jeffreyburr4294
    @jeffreyburr4294 9 місяців тому

    What do you think about this low grip geometry for stringwalking? As far as I know the Gillo G1 is longer under the grip, and that is touted as a benefit for stringwalking. I’m not sure that makes sense to me

    how do you avoid adding torque to the bow when you draw back but out of line with the bow but then bring the string back in line is the grip rotating in your hand or are you resisting the rotation with your fingers?

    is 40 pound limbs is good for 70 meter archer or 50 ?

    • @dario9107
      @dario9107 9 місяців тому +2

      Yes most women recurve archers shoot around about 40 lbs and shoot up to 690 on 70 meters. More lbs is potentially better but you have to be able to control it and most non professional archers shoot to much lbs and struggle. The rule is technique>draw weight.

    652 for an out of shooting shape archer is fantastic! A lot of people in great shooting condition still struggle to reach 640 at 70m, let alone 650.

    in europe this riser is at an awful pricepoint really. From you description only it sounds like you're shooting a fivics argon x riser. The problem being that riser is about 300$ cheaper, and the new skadi tx is on par price wise (wich is the better riser of the 2). I don't understand the reasoning behind the huge price difference between europe & usa for fivics, unless there's some weird import taxes somewhere.
    You might want to check their new barebow tab though. Or stick with the yost and get the backing plate from jager, wich seems to work for a lot of people.
