Inuyasha was in general deeper than Yashahime. Yashahime feels a bit rushed, sometimes just like a rip-off of Inuyasha when it comes to antagonist demons. The characters experience a lot of stuff, but it barely leaves any real impact. Every episode goes in a different direction. Inuyasha was VERY slow paced. Not everything has to be that slow paced. But I feel like Yashahime should take more time to process the plot and give the characters more room to grow.

but that’s what i don’t understand...why are they rushing this series? do they not have an idea of how long they want this series to run for? like we aren’t expecting 5 seasons of this show because you can’t really do too much more with the 3 girls but every episode seems like it’s rushing and adds new elements that add a sense of hurry. like the fights, never last more than a minute. the villains die with ease. there isn’t any development to gaining strength or obtaining a motive yk? like the creators seem to be fitting what could be 2-3 seasons into just 1, which makes no sense.

Another point I would like to add is that the Inuyasha version was happening in real time. The Setsuna version was a story told by Setsuna to Towa, so it leaves out multiple perspectives you'd get as an objective observer.

    • @z55177

Plus InuYasha was so desperate to be anything but a "weak hanyou", after being bullied and ostracized his whole life.
I don't think Setsuna went through that, having a far better childhood/teenage hood and so she is not hurting/obsessed with power so it doesn't matter to her, and she is treated more kindly too. Not to mention her formative memories wiped made her more of a blank slate, so she is not bothered by a lot/has a lot bothering her.

Inuyasha hands down was better, it caused him to think afterwards if being being a full demon was worth him going inane, or losing his friends. I am looking forward to how towa's demon transformation will be.

    • @Fernandanatac
      @Fernandanatac 3 роки тому +4

I hope Towa’s transformation is going to be wilder. She’s overall more emotional than Setsuna, maybe that can play a part into she loosing her mind more.
Also, she seems to be more powerful than Setsuna, which may also lead to less control.
And, on top of that, maybe, just maybe, they could creat an arc about she wanting to become more powerful to defeat Kirinmaru/Zero/Riku/ idk and recover Sestuna’s memories. So that when she becomes full demon, something similar to Inuyasha happens with her.

    • @Fernandanatac
      @Fernandanatac 3 роки тому +2

Oh oh! Wait! To be a little more different from Inuyasha. Imagine if in her first beserk mode, nobody besides her enemy is around and she defeats them and then faints because of something, and when she wakes up she thinks she’s able to “control” it use that form as she pleases (kinda like Setsuna used against Totestu). Maybe that could happen again in some other episode, idk, just to really passes her the impression that she can in fact use that form as a tool.
HOWEVER, when she gets to face another stronger enemy, THEN her friends are around and she becomes vicious, killing all enemies like Inuyasha did and, different from Inuyasha, she ends up seriously hurting one of her friends (Setsuna, Moroha or Hisui).
She would be completely DEVASTATED after that. It would be amazing!

InuYasha was more violent in the manga than the anime. In the manga, he actually beheads the bandits with his claws, and the three who begs for their lives, even they are killed via beheading. Fluffy does not alive in time to distract him from killing them. The anime was tame by comparison, still graphic in violence, but tame nonetheless. Trying to pace a show with no material like a manga to help it and no certainty on whether the show will get another season can really cause problems. They are trying to pace the show but also fit in the necessary plot to finish it up in one season. That's why you don't see anything being carried over multiple episodes except for one time with Konton because they don't have the episodes and timeframe to do that. If they don't try to set it up to finish the plot in the one season and don't get another we get left hanging but if they do it all in one go and get a second season then they have to scramble to make a whole new plot for the show to keep going.

I can see your perspective. I haven’t watched much anime but I was obsessed with inuyasha as a kid. I became more interested in anime when I re watched it as an adult last year. I loved the characters and series SO much that even though yashahime is referencing old things and sometimes slow, I’m enjoying it bc I feel like I’m continuing one of my favorite universes. I am hoping for at least 2 more seasons. I think season 1 is meant to build and kinda get new and old fans in, eventually I think it would be cool to see the kids (and parents) cross through time and work together omggg. So I’m viewing this 1st season as a building block. I totally get how things right now can seem “lazy” though! (And tbh I’m just geeked that the inuyasha series even got a sequel 😂) do you have any recommendations on good anime’s to watch since inuyasha / yashahime is the only one’s I’ve seen? I can guess, they wanted the sequel to be more kid (early teen to young adults) friendly. So they take out anything that's savage and brutal. That's why Towa is so into not killing anyone. Though they were brutal with the moth demon's death, there was no blood. If this was more like the original, there would've been blood.

Inuyasha, no brainer. Setsuna's transformation was good but it was lack luster and didn't rlly hold any significance while with inuyasha it was anticipated and was in all of our thoughts "If inuyasha became a full demon would still be himself ?". He transformed because it was the only thing he could do, a last resort. Setsuna on the other hand, she just sprung it on us in the same moment. In short it was too sudden and flat.

Both were good, but Inuyasha’s was better for sure. However, for me, comparing the two scenes is weird since both Setsuna and Inuyasha are different characters. With Inuyasha, his whole goal is thrown out the window about wanting to become a full demon. He hated who he became because of his demon blood and never wants to do that ever again in fear of hurting his friends. The thing he thought would bring him happiness ends up leading him to do one of the worst things he’s ever done.
Setsuna, meanwhile, isn’t really scared by her demon blood. She accepts the demon part in her as just being a part of her and something she has to keep in check every now and again. Earlier on, she expresses her feelings of being a half-demon and what that means to Kaede, but she has no goals of wanting to be a full human or full demon. When she goes full demon, we don’t see her reflect on this part of her being monstrous and I think it’s because she’s already come to accept this power she has within. Now could this have been handled with more emotional reflection on Setsuna? Sure, but Setsuna’a not an emotional character. She’s straight forward in her goals and doesn’t stop to deeply think about implications like this. I still think this was the best episode for her. Great episode all around.

I personally think that Inuyasha's demon transformation was better than Setsuna's transformation. Inuyasha's situation was given time to work up to, it was more tense as well as just more devastating, and it had an unforeseen yet satisfying conclusion. As for Setsuna's situation, it answers some questions about Setsuna's while working as a flashback, but when compared to Inuyasha's demon transformation, it doesn't have the same level of tension nor does it have a satisfying conclusion. I also don't think Setsuna's demon transformation was triggered due to her life being in danger, which is supposed to be the catalyst for the demon transformations.

yeah I believe that tree demon sesshomaru talked to explained that it's not Inuyasha Becoming a full demon just his demon blood rising to the surface to protect himself at the cost of his sanity. As a full demon can remain calm in a life or death situation InuYasha can not and because Toga was such a strong demon it overwhelmed and consumed Inuyasha that the Tessaiga was used as a means to protect him from those times so his demon blood didn't need to come to his aid although I doubt inuyasha was never in the same scenario before he was able to wield tessaiga so the logic is a bit of a woops on the creators part probably.

I like Inuyasha's more because I believe that his version has a lot more weight. I mean it's just like you said we spent one episode with him trapped inside of a cocoon but his sword is nor to be found thus increasing the tension to when he does transform into a demon and then the next episode he does transform into a demon and he slaughters everyone. From there it all leads up to the people that he did save and even his own friends being afraid of him and to top it all off him trying to wash away the smell of blood and even try to not look Kagome in the eye. I nearly forgot how powerful that scene was but man that entire 2 episodes arc was brilliant. Meanwhile Setsuna's version was not bad and in fact was also cool but I feel there was no Emotional weight in that version because she just went demon killed a moth demon got stopped and then went to sleep and then a seal was placed on her. After that she doesn't really gain anything or lose anything and she just goes off with a new weapon. It just felt weaker in comparison to her Uncle's version so I have to give the nod to inuyasha. But despite that it is pretty cool to see a version of that scene even if it's not as strong as the other version was so great analysis Axel!

Still, great episode, but this match, and I fear the whole show, won't be a match against Inuyasha. PS don't forget how much the movies added to the series. The dramatic love scenes with Kagome, where Inuyasha's demon side was awakened by that demon in the castle beyond the looking glass. It was horrific that he hurt her with his claws and she bled on him, yet she kissed him to wake up his human side. *sigh* I miss the original show so bad, but I love Yashahime.

I think it mostly comes down to time and intent. Inuyasha had this scene bc it was vital to his story, and therefor it was given the time it needed to breathe because it was a pivotal moment for his character motivations (which, as the title character, is also the motivation for the entire show). it HAD to be perfect. it altered the entire plot of the series and shattered both Inuyasha's world view and his sense of self, his entire belief system, really. everything he thought he wanted was proven to be unattainable in the way he wanted it. he wanted to be a full demon because he wanted to be safe and not regularly hunted by demons who thought themselves superior to him, to protect those he cared about, and to belong, and no longer be this complete societal pariah hated on all sides. it's also what he wanted when he once wanted to become human, because it wasn't actually becoming human or demon that he really wanted in the end, it was only what those ideas represented. and in this moment he's shown that while he could technically attain the goal of being a full demon, it would not grant him the things he actually wanted. and he had to take time to find himself, accept himself as he is and learn of a way to get what he wanted in life another way, which is exactly what he does throughout the rest of the series, while also realizing that he had already gained many of the things he wanted. other than the abilities he would gain later, he already had in that moment what he would have at the end of the series that was his happy ending. he just couldn't quite recognize it because of the proverbial carrot in front of his nose.
on the flip side, we only saw Setsuna turn bc the *audience wanted to see it*. we want all these callbacks and to see the new characters learn the lessons the previous ones learned, and we want to see what they look like when they do things like experience a new moon phase or turn full demon since Inuyasha was really the only one we ever got to see that way, so finally having new half demons to get to know, we want to see it. we want to relive these moments while also seeing the differences between them. like, both Toga and Sesshomaru are full demons, so what does the influence of these fathers' blood have on the full demon forms of the half demon children? we seemed to see Toga's facial markings show up on Inuyasha's face, so likewise it makes one wonder if we'd see Sesshomaru's show up on Towa and Setsuna's faces. it's mostly this information we want to see, while also enjoying seeing our characters basically turn into a Samurai Warriors game and kill 100+ enemies in just a few attacks bc it's epic to watch.
because of that, there's absolutely no character motivation. she doesn't learn anything from this moment, nor does it seem to shake up her world view or...really affect her at all. like, if it weren't for the fact that she's telling this to Towa you could argue she didn't even know that happened to her or what it means, because to her she would have just blacked out and then woke up and everything was fine. nothing about her changed besides she got a shiny new weapon, really. the others weren't even particularly scared of her, unless you interpret her leaving as them really kicking her out bc she was too dangerous, but that would only be a fan interpretation and she already had the seal in place. Shiori shows no real signs of being *scared* of Setsuna, not like the others were of Inuyasha, nor do the other two half demon children that she turned on. at no point did they even seem shocked that that was a thing that could happen to them, or confused as to why she was mindlessly attacking everything that moved. Setsuna herself didn't seem to care, and even Miroku didn't like, take a moment to be sad that she was going to have the same problem as Inuyasha, needing to have a special weapon at her side at all times to keep her father's blood from consuming her very heart and soul and turn her into a violent mindless monster. the most we got was "she inherited demon blood too powerful for her half demon body" which....ain't the same thing. and what gets me is Setsuna seemed very touchy about being half human in the first few eps. she seemed to resent it, feeling that it made her weak and if only her demon father hadn't made the mistake of conceiving her with a human she could be the powerful demon she clearly wants/wanted to be. even if being around Towa and Moroha changed this worldview for the present time this could have been the moment that would have caused her to feel that way when she meets them later. it felt like they were setting up a similar mindset to Inuyasha's, where they COULD have given her the same lesson, that becoming something she isn't will only turn her into a monster who will violently murder all those she cares about, or make this the moment she begins to resent being half demon, but...they didn't. it's not there at all. in fact, she seems perfectly ok with being half because it lead her to that wonderful little village she called home, which could only accept her because of what she was. she...gave not two shits about any of it and it's...weird.
at the end of it all, that's what made this feel a lot emptier than Inuyasha's. the limited time isn't really what hurt it, because it didn't actually need the build up or extreme suspense or overwhelming violence. it needed character motivation; a reason to exist *in the narrative* and to actually affect *all* the characters involved. it needed to use the building blocks it already had in place. the fact that it didn't do any of that is what makes it so frustrating, even though it's otherwise a lovely episode.

That's what I missed most in Yashahime. The scene was great and I like the allusions and the nostalgic feeling they bring, but Inuyasha just seems "deeper" to me. Not just the characters themselves but all so how they influence each other. The impact on Setusuna seems smaller and hardly flows over to her friends, whereas in Inuyasha they all resonate more with the inner torments of their companions. Not just for Inu., but also for example for Sango after meeting "Puppet_kohaku" to a point where even the hanyou acknowledges emotional wounds (where as at the beginning he mocked them. But we all know he matured a lot during the series). Just repeats how great Inuyasha was.

It's less impactful for Setsuna's transformation because... I dunno... she didn't look that scary and it didn't feel like she'll murder everyone around her. Plus Shiori managed to grab her from behind - that shows that Setsuna wasn't THAT threatening in her full demon form. The only thing that changed after her transformation is that Shiori had to nicely ask Setsuna to live on her own because Setsuna's "strong enough" even though Miroku had already sealed her demon form.

I see where you are coming from with the comparison between the two transformation scenes and how similar and not similar they were. However, the emotional impact, I believe, was still there even if the build-up wasn't. Before Setsuna's transformation, even if she didn't necessarily want to become a full demon, she relied on her demonic half more than her human half. That is why, I believe, it shows her allowing those demons to live because it shows that her transformation could have had an impact on her thoughts of reliance. In other words, even though she didn't have the same realization InuYasha did, she did have one that affected her decisions and which half of herself she relied on more.

There’s definitely a lack of emotion and self realization in Yashahime. Would have been nice if the characters were more aware of how their actions can hurt others and also realizing their own struggles. Inuyasha was great because it captured those kinds of feelings in the characters.
I liked episode 20, probably one of my favorite ones in this series with Setsuna’s backstory. But now that you brought up the comparison between the two transformation scenes, there was much more depth to the Inuyasha version.
Setsuna nearly killed her adoptive mother and friends, yet we don’t see her feeling traumatized by it. Maybe it happened off screen but would have love to see her emotions and regret. Even when Rin died, we saw Sesshomaru get heartbroken and he blamed himself for it.
Yashahime, I do enjoy and it definitely has full potential to be a very decent show especially if they decide to make another season. They just need to work on some things.
But I will say, I like Setsuna a lot better now after this episode.

Inuyasha just looked more Ferocious and badass when he had his transformation, he looked like an actual demon.

As much as I like Setsuna as a character but her transformation was so meh... it felt natural, it was not a surprise to see her like that, it was emotionless for me. This series is so rushed to the point that I don't feel some emotions even if some parts are creative and has references. Expections were very high, they're just cutting moments that could be as memorable as Inuyasha, I'm rewatching Inuyasha and wow some episodes are so emotional and comparition to Yashahime is way too flat. Inuyasha's transformation is so memorable and marked me as a viewer to him see that he's dangerous and after that you can see the regret and fear in the character's eyes and actions. Setsuna's was like so boring and even she has less emotions than Inuyasha at least the writers could focus on her thoughts or how she feels.. but nope...

I think the problem is comparing them on the first place. They are just not meant to be the same thing at all. Inuyasha's was a novelty,y a moment of self reflection and a turning point not only of what inuyasha could be but also how his own weakness caused his lack of control. Setsuna's is there to explain her backstory more as a tool that can be dangerous than something she doesn't want to approach, hence why we actually get to see her use this before we get to see how this happened.
Both narrative tools serve a different purpose, in the case of Setsuna is to show something that's dangerous but that she may need to use , in the case of Inuyasha was to showcase something he had to grow beyond and a danger that always lingered.

Inuyasha Is the most dangerous compared to Setsuna since he is closer to his father's bloodline where Setsune is a third generation and less aggressive plus Inuyasha is around 150 years older and has long ago learned to control most of his demon power. Where Setsuna is only 14 years old and not all demons learns to master all their abillities that fast like Sesshumaru and Toga did. So for the three girls it might take more time, years and training before they can even compete with their fathers powers.

To me it's not fair to compare both series as one took several episode to form these dramatic moments while the other squandered on what they had
It's like comparing a rushed meal to a 5 star gourmet it's honestly not fair

InuYasha’s was hands down the better moment. For him, it was a huge slap to the face that if he became demon, he may not be HIM anymore. He realised he could be a real threat to the only people he cared about since his mother and minimally in 50 years since Kikyou first died. Then we have the raw emotion of him coming to the realisation. Of him trying to clean the blood from his hands and fighting the guilt of killing humans (something he had not done until that point. It had always only been demons and THREATS to humans)
Setsuna didn’t really have none of that. She, much like her dear ol’ dad, had no remorse over killing both the bandits that Kiade stopped her from killing, or the demons OR her friends. She has since shown restraint but it is not the same as remorse or guilt over attempting to turn her claws on Shiori who, at that point was the closest thing to a mother the girl had in her life...
    There is just no comparison.

I have to admit from the beginning of Yashahime i thought that the similarities are not just homage to inuyasha but an actual plot point.. not quite sure how but there are just too many of them i think. Im rewatching inuyasha (spoiler to inuyasha ep 135 ahead) and im at the part where the infant is hunting highly spiritual monks to help him see where the place between this world and the next is.. i mean.. it has to be more than just right?😅

Another thing is that some people, if only a few of the viewer base, may never have seen the older scene. In that context Setsuna's transformation is much more shocking, also accented by showing her in control as an adult earlier in the series making her sudden jolt a telling change.

I noticed parallels, but for the time allotted I am pleased with Setsuna's transformation discovery. Comparing the two deeper than that isn't really going to yeild much. I think the purpose of the episode wasn't just her backstory, but to acknowledge that she goes through this too, and this is how it is kept in check. Inuyasha's entire character is based on the idea that he WANTS to be a full demon and when he is shown what that would mean for him it triggered an existential crisis. The entire show is happening because he wants the jewel to become a full demon. For Setsuna the experience isn't so world shaking because her transformation is harnessed to protect people she cares about. Also, after only a short struggle (because Miroku had handled this before and knew exactly what to do) she was held back and didn't go on to slaughter a bunch of innocents. So I can understand it not being such a big deal. She is surrounded by other half youkai, in a secure environment, and now knows she is powerful enough to protect herself and others. She even learned to control and use it at some point considering her mastery of her poison claws. It wasn't an ego shaking situation for her. She has that Sesshomaru chill vibe, so she isn't going to freak out about much of anything. She's a mini half Sesshomaru, not a mini half Inuyasha.

I know I definitely enjoy the allusions between Inuyasha and Yashahime! I get why people are saying it's lazy but I guess I enjoy the nostalgic factor! Additionally, I like to think about how Setsuna and Towa might've really appreciated having Inuyasha around to learn from him about being a half-demon descendent from Toga specifically. But I suppose Sestuna was still able to learn a lot being around other half-demon children

I hate to say...inuyasha because he had been alone for far longer than setsuna. He never got that guidance like she did with like Miroku or even shiori. Inuyasha has that survival edge while setsuna does seem to have some control, he DID murder an bunch of human bandits, as well as some chickens and horses in the third movie. They both have the blood of great demons in them, but I would say it’s down to age and experience as a hanyou. Anyway Love your vids axel! Stay blessed!

I also wonder if Yashahime is geared to a young audience. It would be interesting to get the opinion of a young fan or even a fan who has never watched Inuyasha. As for Setsuna's transformation into demon, I also would have liked to see her eyes red. But I think her transformation came about more from fear of her "family" being killed by the moth demon. Inuyasha was also suffering from the moth demon's poison attack on him so he also had the "protect my life at all costs" as part of the impetus to his going full demon. And as for who the "villain" in Yashahime is, I think it's Riku. He's the one who wants all the pearls, all the power, and to kill Kirinmaru. I think he thinks the pearls are his ultimate weapon to kill Kirinmaru. I also don't think Riku is a human or a demon, but an incarnation like Kagura. If that is so, then him killing Kirinmaru would fit the prophecy. I'm interested in where the dream butterflies fit in Yashahime though. What would Kirinmaru want to do with them? I can't see them just being used to make all half demons "tame" enough so that none of them would want to kill him.

The loonatics was great in my opinion, & they were beginning to improve in season 2. sadly season 3 never happened which i heard tht they were supposed to travel back in time. but i get why people didnt like it. its the same with how people feel about yashahime, it does feel bland or rushed at times but i still enjoy it.

While Inuyashas transformation was way more impactful to his character development that was given a lot of time to build up for impact on the viewers, the yashahime episde was a flashback explaining setsunas backstory in short.
I think both fullfilled their purpose in the narrative of the series. Eventough Inuyashas transformation story is undoubtledly better done, maybe this episode of yashahime will be a reference to setsunas future struggles with her demon blood. I hope we will get to see more about this in future episodes! We still havent seen setsuna with red eyes, so maybe the build up for her going full demon will be even bigger than inuyashas was.

It almost seems like Setsuna can exercise much more control over her demon self compared to InuYasha. Whenever she has transformed she has the ability to keep her self in control long enough to ask Miroku to seal her powers back up.

Dear Axel Beats. I dint know how to use descrd. So I ask my question here. What do you think why Setsuna does not have a full moon night when she looses her demonic powers.. ? Why des Moroha not loose her demonic powers.?
