EDF 6 M131 The Hellish and Depressing still sucks Revelation Ranger Inferno ( Earth Defense Force )

  • As I've said in other videos of Mission 131, this is it, nastiness at its peak. If this mission is difficult for other classes, it's on steroids for Ranger. You can also understand why Sandlot has given Ranger turrets. I did not find a way to do it without them. It's not the only mission where he would be with his trousers down anyway. As much as they buffed him and gave him new weapons and possibilities that he could be "The Man", this mission still shows that on some of them, he still sucks.
The mission has 4 waves (or 3 if you don't separate the bees one). The enemy mix on the 3 waves is very different, so it's hard to have weapons that will work for any class. If Air Raider saves his ass once he has a vehicle, none of the Ranger vehicles work well here. The only likely viable one is the HU04 but it can be trashed in a snap, because its movement is crappy, and its armor is low.
His movement isn't good enough to save his ass either. Even Wing Diver and Fencer have terrible problems here and their movement is way better than Ranger's one.
The weapons I used were the level 77 MEX5 Emerald, the 80 X900 Orchid, the 79 ZEXR-GUN and the 82 Hybrid Protector E9, all within the mission limits.
Missiles are essential here like in many EDF 6 missions. The number of enemies is overwhelming and you need something that will annoy and stop them, and if it kills them too great. Sadly you can't use the EX Radar enhancement. Emerald does have the issue of NPCs collateral damage, but not as big as Fencer's FGX missiles.
The X900 Orchid is the best assault rifle in 6. Although TZ Stork specs are similar, X900 just feels and works better. I tried shotguns and blazers, their reload times did not work here.
ZEXR-GUN is the most versatile turret, and works well with flyers and ground enemies. Tried all others, MX was second best by miles.
Hybrid Protector E9 here is better than Under Assist E3. Walking speed is very important here.
    Mission flow is difficult.
Capture WDs and Rangers and advance to handle incoming enemies, and to save the NPC Nyxes. Focus on haze and ants, you'll have to ignore the queen ant and hope that she doesn't one-shot you. You can't handle both. When possible kill the first Queen ant, and then the most important enemy is the Blue Kraken. X900 is not ideal to handle him, but you have no other choice. The second Queen Ant is also important. Once only the 2 Red Krakens are alive, rebuild ZEXR, capture NPC Fencers, feed your troops and relocate to the right of the NPC vehicles.
When the second wave starts there will be 3 groups of androids falling from the mothership. Install ZEXRs. The main problem is that the group that falls near the NPC vehicles never falls on the same place. If they trash the vehicles you're in trouble. Once this near group is trashed, try to kill androids from the others. Ignore the 2 Krakens for now. Once bees spawn, as stupid as it may sound it's important to advance to them, and don't waste time shooting them. If the NPC Nyxes are still ok they will trash the bees, as you move back towards them. It will be your job to handle the Queen Bee and one of the Blue Krakens. Then stall, rebuild ZEXRs again and feed your troops. Proceed to the left, map border, just slightly in front of the NPC vehicles.
When the 4 shielded pylons drop, it's very important that you take down one of them, before it even spawns Haze. Haze will be your nightmare on the last wave. If you have any vehicles alive they will be trashed by Haze in a snap. Your lifeline will be the NPCs. The Rangers will be trashed next, so Fencers and WDs will be your life savers.
Try to get rid of the 3 Imperial Drones and the 3 King Spiders when possible, but yes Haze is more important. Always reduce their numbers.
The key here is to kill all enemies so that the surely dead Rangers will respawn and give you some breath. All Rangers have revive ability, but only one WD and one Fencer share that trait.
Once you have NPCs again under control, start to move towards the back left pylon. Don't advance too much, or Haze will crush you. Wait for the NPCs help. Destroy that pylon, and handle the 2 Red Drones Type 3.
Next repeat and go for the front right pylon. Handle the Red Drone.
At this point things are a piece of cake.
I did try to do this mission with 1k armor, but there's a ton of luck involved in this one. The amount and mix of enemies is so bad that no accident or not getting hit is difficult to happen, only with a lot of luck you can get this done with low armor with Ranger.
Ranger sucks badly here. The life of the other classes can also be troublesome, but he isn't good at all on this mission. As much as Sandlot wanted to improve his chances on all missions, he's still below the other 3 on many. Except on missions designed specifically for him. And this one clearly isn't.
    Good luck. Have fun ????😋,

I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues with this mission. It's like they don't want you to beat the game or something.

Hi. Unless they're lying or using a ton of armor, everyone will have trouble doing this mission solo, and Ranger suffers the most here. I don't know what difficulty you're trying it on, but on Inferno this mission is hellish.
I put some extra information here, perhaps it can help:

As much as you can do, there's a reasonable amount of luck involved in success here.

Hi. 😋 Reducing your armor is the best thing you can do to improve your gameplay quality on Sandlot EDF games. It's not that difficult anyway. But yes, this is the hardest mission in the campaign for R
The key here is NPCs and know what to focus on. And where to be before the next wave spawns. Read the video description, I have additional information on this mission in my blog, in the mission data page.
BTW the mission is slightly different on hard and below.

Say, what are some of the strongest weapons we get for each class in each of the DLC’s?

Hi. I don't care much about strongest weapons, the ones I care are the ones that solve missions. The rest is just mindless junk. Like Rule of God was.
I have 2 videos of Ranger using a very powerful weapon, one for obvious reasons because the weapon and mission were CLEARLY created for each other (2-35). Both Ranger and AR get some interesting new vehicles, which were added anyway as the classes had nearly 0 chance of doing some missions without them.
WD gets a new long range weapon that is good. Fencer gets a lot of new toys on DLC, because he desperately needed them anyway... Huge damage missiles that no longer need guidance, a very powerful long cannon which I don't use because I find them a bore, and really powerful versions of the Spine Driver and Flashing Spear, even more fantastic and powerful FGX and a ton of exoskeletons which the best feature are walking like a maniac.
      There's some interesting new stuff.
