I predict that this young fellow has a very bright future. I would give anything to play with Mr. Paul; sure do miss you, Les. I love that that he treated Tallan as an equal. He was very kind to a young musician :)... All the best to you, Tallan; keep rockin'!
I really can't believe this kid was cut from America's Got Talent when so many others went to the next round. I think he's just amazing and it's a joy to watch/listen to him play. Rock on!
Well, none of us played live on stage with Les Paul before age 10. We all feel so safe out here as critics on the interweb, but regardless of how you cut it, this little maestro is truly feeling the blues at a young age, and will be teaching people older than himself before he's old enough to vote. He's truly an inspiration to blues artists and kids everywhere. You GO, BOY !
I watched an interview with him here on UA-cam. His dad states in it that he IS an average kid - except when he's on stage! He said Tallan loves playing at the playground, like any other kid!
Man, you're so lucky, Tallan, to be able to play with a legend like Les Paul before he died. That's something to be proud of for the rest of your life.
Because I know Tallan, I can assure you that he will not turn his back on the Blues. I've seen him play many times and he has thrilled countless people with his skill. Just this past Saturday, I saw him play at an outdoor festival under a tent in very cold. windy and rainy weather. My hands were frozen, but Tallan and his Band played on through it for a good 1 1/2 hours and sounded great doing it. He never ceases to amaze me! I am very glad to call him and his parents, my friends!....Roy
This kid is gonna have soul once in an interview he couldn't describe why he liked to play guitar, so he just played a few riffs as happy as can be, smiling and amazed that the guitar could make such beautiful noises!
Man, this kid is not only awesome, but he got to play with the king of electric guitar. I think I would be silent to, being in such awe of sharing the stage with Les Paul.
He was my classmate in kindergarten and 1st grade. He frequently missed class due to him learning how to play guitar, it was a rare occasion I saw him at school
R.I.P Les Paul your spirit shall live on forever thanks for everything you have doone for music from The Solid Body to the innovations such as multi-tracking
You are a SUPER talented kid and I hope all your hard work pays off and your best dreams come true - just remember that education always comes first - NO MATTER WHAT!!
Dude, something you need to learn about the blues is it's not about pain, it's about expression of the soul. But, that makes people who have experienced pain drawn to the blues, it offers them a chance to let all that out and you can feel it in their music. With Tallan, he may not have had a whole lot of life experiences just yet, but you can really feel what he plays, it's got soul. That's the sure sign that that kid is really playin the blues, he can feel it, and we can.
Les was one of the first to popularize the solid body. Don't think he actually invented it, but had a large hand in its evolution. And yes this kid is amazing. True raw talent. Envy.........
how mant 8 year olds can say they played a jam session with the late and great almighty Les Paul! This kid is amazing! Im not jealous of him im just glad theres someone in the world thats my generation that still can play legitly play the blues once B.B King and others pass away.
I'm 24 and can't even tune my guitar. So, I don't know why there are haters. I know you can't compare the kid to a great like Jimmy Hendrix, but he handles the stage well for a kid that age. And Les Paul looked impressed. And don't say you can learn the pentatonic scale in one afternoon because if it was that easy I'd be up on stage doing what he does. Yeah, he may have trouble finding notes every now and than, but at least he can produce a good sound, and he will keep blues music alive.
Les was one of the first to popularize the solid body. Don't thing he actually invented it, but he definately had a large hand in its evolution. And yes this kid is awesome! True raw talent. Envy......
"I wouldn't hold back if I was able to duel I would melt his face and all it would take is a sg standard, behringer 60x2 watt a bottle of Jim Beam and a grunge pedal" You wouldn't NEED the J.B. and a grunge pedal to compete if you had talent!!! I would SO love to see this person and Tallon on a UA-cam video having a genuine duel: totally acoustic, random song selected by a person who has nothing to gain, and BOTH unfamiliar with the specific guitar used. Bet the 8 year old kid would win!
WOWSER kid! Playing second fiddle to Les Paul in this no less. I mean Les Paul just takes his hands off the guitar and just enjoys listening to this blues prodigy working.
I allready love the little dude he's amazing and has got a great future ahead of him let him ............................................. justing bieber with the old and allways trusted sound of the BLUES
Les is pretty spry (and sharp) for 93... and he doesn't seem to give a Dump... This guy has seen, heard, and experienced it ALL! search for his b/w vid about Revolutionizing Multi-Track (whilst Mary sings)
@GitarStu I think this is what he was getting at In 2008, Latz's father Carl received a letter from the state of Wisconsin informing him that Tallan may not play club venues anymore, as a result of an anonymous e-mail sent to state officials complaining that he was too young to be performing in taverns and nightclubs. His booking agent also received an anonymous letter threatening her with death should she continue booking the 8-year old guitarist.
This kid rocks! I bet he was kinda thrown off by Les Paul asking him what key his song was in. Maybe he doesn't know much about music in that way... but hey, neither did Stevie Ray Vaughan. :D Keep it up, T-Man! Lucky you, getting to play beside the lengendary Les Paul!
Strikes me that this kid played better than the old guys around him. I think if the backing had been better , he'd have launched into some full on lead. Felt like he was just itching to go with it , but the old guys were a bit lame. I can't wait to see what his youtube clips will be like in a few more years

les paul invented the electric guitar itself, he also invented double track recording so you could record 1 instrument and put it alone with other seperatly recorded instruments
ill tell you what! out of all the legends this kid has got to sit in with ONLY Mr. Les Paul is so classy that he let's the kid get his piece in dig? Les aint got a thing to prove EVERYONE knows Les can get down! Way to usher the kid in, just like you would want to brought into the biz.
Nah man forget this, look at the guitar this kid is playing I could only dream of being that fortunate my parents wouldn't buy me that ever. I wouldn't hold back if I was able to duel I would melt his face and all it would take is a sg standard, behringer 60x2 watt a bottle of Jim Beam and a grunge pedal and it would still cost less than his guitar alone.
What an Honor to get to play with Les Paul
I played on stage with this kid, I'm an 11 year old and I also hung out with him before the show. Hes pretty much your average kid, hes cool.
I predict that this young fellow has a very bright future. I would give anything to play with Mr. Paul; sure do miss you, Les. I love that that he treated Tallan as an equal. He was very kind to a young musician :)...

it makes me feel good to see this kid play. i thinks it's because it brings him so much joy.
RIP Les Paul, Vive La Tallan Latz!
This is a once in a lifetime chance to play with someone of Les's caliber! You're one very lucky and talented kid.
I love it at 5:10 when Les kick out a couple of notes and the T-man repalys.
Tooo Kool!!

The State of Wisconsin needs a flood of email and phone calls to change the law. This skid is amazing.
This kid is a fucking boss. I wish I could've played with Les Paul!!!
I think it's ironic that "Tallan Latz" sounds like "Talentless" because he definitely has talent. a ton of it.

The kid was extremely nervous. He was NOT expecting to be asked to do a solo: how would YOU react in his shoes, at age 8 or 9?
wait until this kid is 18...he'll have surpassed the likes of Hendrix, Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan...it's gonna be one hell of a wild ride...
he better win the whole thing
I like how you all came here after reading that yahoo article lol
