  • "I had a little singing career going there... but I never met anybody like Jesus."
    - Rev. Bishop Al Green
Al Green founded Memphis' Full Gospel Tabernacle Church (787 Hale Road) in 1976, just a year after his "Greatest Hits" album was released. It was part of his evolution from a secular singer to a minister (read about his transformation in the interview linked below).
Full Gospel welcomes visitors from all over the world, and is an excellent way to experience the music and spirit of a Southern Christian church... the institution at the root of so many amazing styles of music.
This full sermon was given on December 30th, 2018. I hope you enjoy it.
The Full Gospel church service begins at 11:30 am Sundays if you'd like to attend. The address is listed above.

Ministry is his calling and the music was just part of that calling. He always was singing about Love and God is love 💕

Music was a part of him but his Ministry will always be his calling. People go to his church looking a show and just get a sermon and church.

What did you think of the sermon? Was there a moment that was your favorite?
Mine was how he he went back and forth from preaching to singing... most of the time the band followed his lead, but it also seemed like they coaxed him into singing...

REGII RECORDS Yes I was moved by how he flows in the Spirit. It is rare to see that today. He intersperses scripture, preaching with his singing. He speaks from his heart. That is truly wonderful. Wow. Praise God.

Marigold Carter Yes, he does speak straight from his heart! And after so much time in the pulpit and on stage, he knows how to to give the folks exactly what they need.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your feedback. 😊
