Amphian Mutineet Ruling: Any forced combat is optional if the defending player has an effects that require a cost like Ghostly Prison. Rule 508.1d: The active player checks each creature he or she controls to see whether it's affected by any requirements (effects that say a creature attacks if able, or that it attacks if some condition is met). If the number of requirements that are being obeyed is fewer than the maximum possible number of requirements that could be obeyed without disobeying any restrictions, the declaration of attackers is illegal. If a creature can't attack unless a player pays a cost, that player is not required to pay that cost, even if attacking with that creature would increase the number of requirements being obeyed.
kitchen table it made sense that the attack became optional. That really upset 1 player at the table and insisted I had to pay the cost because I had available mana. It made it so I couldn't stop him from comboing off on his turn. Wish I had known the rule number since he bragged about how good his decks/he was.
@14:50 you could wait for the rakdos charm effect to resolve to exile your yard, then holding priority while reclamation is still on the stack, trigger zur's orb 7 times to sacrifice all of your lands to gain 14 life, and create 7 5/3 tokens. They would each trigger separately of course due to the stack but then in total you would draw an additional 14 cards. After all of this reclamation would resolve and bring back all of your 7 lands to the battlefield. Just mentioning because you probably hadn't thought of that but I don't blame you as that game seemed like it would've been an hour+. Edit: Saw someone already posted.
I'm shocked you didn't get the ghostly prison ruling after running this channel for so long! There really is always more to learn about magic for everyone
4:05 Max tapping to activate Obeka's ability confused me partly because it gives "Target player" the option of "you may end the turn" of which Martin casting Wrath of God will choose to NOT end his turn allowing Wrath of God to successfully cast where then it is countered by Nick.
When you cast Splendid Reclamation and the Rakdos Charm was cast in response, why didn’t you let it resolve and then sacrifice your lands with the Reclamation still on the stack? You would have gotten back the 6 lands you had in play after the Charm resolved.
I agree. This was a really great game and I was entertained the entire time. It was super close and drawing out is an unusual way to lose a game. Ghen wins by attrition and default basically! I hope muddstah sees this comment. Definitely a very very entertaining and captivating matchup. Thanks!!!
As a Titania player, i learned to make tokens on the end of the last player's turn, because the field all the time was destroyed if i make all the tokens that i can in my turn XD
I really enjoyed this game. Everyone seemed to be able to play out their deck as it was designed. I laughed every time mono green flexed with those tokens.
This morning I lost track of time and checked youtube way too early, didnt see an update and temporarily freaked out. Long story short (too late), yay, new Muddstah content!
One year later, but Sundial says nothing about being sorcery-speed only, just that it must be your own turn (commenting for anyone else who might be confused)
Thanks for the video muddstah! So sad that the game was sort of uneventful though, the obeka player didn't really do much and the rest of the table was surprisingly controlling. Loved the titania deck over all!
Encore doesn't create the copies "tapped and attacking" like other abilities(e.g. myriad or najeela). Since they only attack if able, they don't attack if the 2 isn't paid for ghostly prison. Its different than najeela's warriors or myriad on a creature since those tokens ETB and are already attacking. So those don't have to pay to attack since they are past that already.
i am confused why Martin countered his own WoG by ending the turn? does max think his commander just timestops anyones turn when he wants? it's whoever's turn it is get's the CHOICE if they want to end the turn.
The reason why amphin mutineer didn't attack Martin is because it attacks "if able" (that's literally how it's written in reminder text), and ghostly prison made him unable. Max still could have paid 2 and attack Martin tho.
Having both of those ETB draw enchantments can sometimes be really limiting to this deck. I find it's necessary to kill them at some point. You should probably run a Gaea's Cradle or at least and Itlimoc in the deck. When you draw that many cards, it's nice to have to mana to cast a bunch of them.
If a creature "attacks if able" but there is a cost attached to attacking such as paying mana, life, or anything else, the "attacks if able" doesnt matter.
I think why it couldn't attack is because the card says, "attacks that opponent this turn if able," and since you cannot pay the 2 for ghostly prison before the token attacks, it just can't attack that opponent. Which is kinda weird
Not quite, the controller of the token is allowed to pay so that the creature can still attack, but the "must attack if able" clause can't force you to pay any costs needed to declare creatures as attackers.
Ghostly Prison stops all declared attacker's unless its controller pay's the 2. The Encore tokens aren't being declared as attacker's. They are just attacking, therefore you cannot pay the 2 for the attacking token
There are many other comments commenting the correct rulings, so I just reply to yours: I just looked at the Encore reminder text, and from that, it's pretty obvious that the tokens DO get declared as attackers. You can only Encore at sorcery speed, so you have the tokens during the declare attackers step. They have haste and they are required to attack the player they were created for. You declare them. What you think of is tokens getting created or creatures put onto the battlefield attacking, like with Myriad.
What would have countering Obeka done, really? Obeka has synergies, but at that point in the game, she didn't do anything but being a 3/4 body. On the other hand, the Necromancer, while he would only deal 2 damage, is much easier to get value from, e.g. just a single loot effect, which blue and red excel in, or some discard cost, which black has, so getting him dead with a surprise blocker seemed worth it to Nick.
It's better if the opening hands are not shown on video. Andrew can get an advantage just by being able to see his opponent's hands before the game starts.
geez dude forgetting hands a lot lately and now this video just ended abruptly without the outro after the game review. If you have a lot going on man take some time to figure it out than come back, don’t let the quality slip nobody’s gonna blame you for having to get things in order
What the heck your cat is so chatty I love her.
Muddstah, your cat sounds exactly like mine! What kind is she?
fun fact: the turn player chooses if Obeka ends the turn, not the owner.
Good to know! I think Martin was just done his turn at that point anyway.
Glad someone else caught that
@@huemungus5535 i borrowed a Obeka deck. the blowout of being reminded it is a may ability is soul crushing.
I was about to say the same thing, but someone beat me to it lol
Why not thake you out with kaervek? You were the biggest treat
The key term is "IF ABLE".
If Max refuses to pay for Ghostly Prison's tax, his Mutineer token is not able to attack Martin, so it doesn't.

This its been the worst showing I've seen for an Obeka deck... while at the same time an awesome performance by the Titania deck
Can we all take a moment to appreciate Martin's drawing skills? :)
I read this before watching and was pleasantly surprised

Reading the card explains the card. Max should do that with Obeka
Crashing Drawbridge seems like a card that should exist in a Titania deck.
Yes please
Drawbridge, to me…is a staple!

I don't understand why he would tap obeka here either. Maybe because it was going to otherwise die and why not?

Good catch! I didn't even think of that line.
was a long match xD
Would Muddstah receive priority after Charm resolves?
@@ImJustHereToWatch14 yep. After a spell resolves a new round of priority starts with the active player.
@@danriemer9724 or ability
im at the 10min mark ang the Obeka does hasnt done anything yet.
I laughed my ass off when you drew yourself out. This is one of my favorite games on your channel
It's the dream for many players I know. Personally I'd only do it out of spite

Much appreciated showing who is playing what commander!
I really enjoyed this game. Everyone seemed to be able to play out their deck as it was designed. I laughed every time mono green flexed with those tokens.
would love to see the Ghen and Obeka lists since I run both! :)
Awesome video as always! Great work man. Loved the plays. I enjoyed Martin's artistic renditions. Clever idea for a webcam game.
This morning I lost track of time and checked youtube way too early, didnt see an update and temporarily freaked out. Long story short (too late), yay, new Muddstah content!
With things like Goad or Encore, you aren't forced to attack a player if there is a required cost associated with attacking them (ie Ghostly Prison).
At 5:23 you play a Rec Sage. Why didn't you decide for the Greaves or the Enchantment? But pick the Solemn.
I'm guessing cuz he wanted the Monarchy, but still that was one of the poorest Rec sages i've ever seen in my life.
Sacrificing and searching für Springbloom Druid is one ability. The Elemental comes into play after that ability resolves.
(around 10:15)
Thank you for pronouncing "Marchesa" correctly.
i really need that obeka decklist, didn't realize that you can use bouncelands without bounce in that strategy, such a dumbass myself hahah
Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think Max can use sundial to stop the bounce trigger at 1:51 because sundial can only be used at sorcery speed
When the board wipe was cast by Martin, nykthos should have been destroyed as nissa made it into a creature
2:23 - Martin draws - full stop.
Your Titania deck is very resilient and great! Love the game today
This was such a fun and interesting game! I'm so glad to see people lose in three different ways!
Obeka, interesting. Thanks for the video, Muddstah.
I feel like you need some more wincons in that titania deck if you can't win after drawing your whole deck that's a big issue
Do you guys play at different power levels? I've seen some strong decks in the past but these were all pretty low powered.
Why did he use the rec sage on the solumn and not the grieves? I don’t get it
From now on you should just say 'i chose not to get opening hands'
Yes please daddy
Well Andrew you may have lost, but you did so in a way that would make the Commander clash crew jealous drawing cards.
Really like that Titania deck, it always seems to do bonkers stuff
Am I the only one that was way more into what Martin was drawing at the beginning of the game that I had restart the video to see what I missed lol
Encore doesn't create the copies "tapped and attacking" like other abilities(e.g. myriad or najeela).

Hey Nick, did you make that playmat bag? I dig it.
Does craterhoof not exist in that titania deck? Never seen it if so

Love this game, and chance we’ll see the Obeka and Ghen deck lists?
Games like this are amazing. I mainly play budget brews against my friends though haha
I thought obeka was a may ability..cant i choose not to end the turn?
The reason why amphin mutineer didn't attack Martin is because it attacks "if able" (that's literally how it's written in reminder text), and ghostly prison made him unable. Max still could have paid 2 and attack Martin tho.
Ghen or lynde for curses?

Itlimoc is one I've considered putting in often. Cradle, on the other hand, is outside of my price range.
Obeka looks pretty much like the troll I used to play in World of Warcraft many years ago.
You should listen more to Matilda, it sounds like she knows what she's saying
If a creature "attacks if able" but there is a cost attached to attacking such as paying mana, life, or anything else, the "attacks if able" doesnt matter.
Love dance macabre in the back
Can we get Martins list ?
I don't understand, does obeka end a player's turn? So in one on one my opponent has no hope?
I think why it couldn't attack is because the card says, "attacks that opponent this turn if able," and since you cannot pay the 2 for ghostly prison before the token attacks, it just can't attack that opponent. Which is kinda weird

18:00 coulda just sacced all your lands and swung out to win right??
What a workhorse Kaervek was
Damn the titania deck really went off, unlucky in not winning but very very nice
Big respect to martian for going all out with glorious end!!!
What a slog! GGs boys
Why Obeka was not countered by Grestshark?🤔 It was casted after to block.

Probably put a coin on top of the monitor just so you won't forget to record the opening hands
Just like how you forget your Rhystic Study triggers :>
So Matilda is the one who calls te shots!
I don't understand what you were digging for that you couldn't win going through you're whole deck.
Well that video ended abruptly.
So I went to alter sleeves to buy one for my Mayael and.....uh...the gave her some very big assets. O.o
Great content but how are you not tired of the same music?
Love Ghen!!!!
It was in fact a glorious end lol
If one unmatching island upset you we really should never play as all my lands do not match.
I need your cat. My friends are too chicken to strike early to mid game
Revised lands, best lands ever printed.
Was hoping for a spicy ghen deck. Havoc festival and Wound reflection. This was not it
Why not sac all your lands and go for the kill?
I just realized you would've killed yourself to draw if you did that lol
Max worked really hard to make sure the Mardu deck won.
I see geralf, I click
The best :)
You could have sacrificed the lands after the Rakdos Charm and before your reclamation went off, yes? Online games are hard...
Should have listened to Matilda
fun game : ]
It's better if the opening hands are not shown on video.
Andrew can get an advantage just by being able to see his opponent's hands before the game starts.
Can someone please play Yannick and Nikara dual partner commanders? Always wanted to see them on Muddstah
