Thanks for the feedback Evie, much appreciated. We like a range of stopovers from free to full on campsites (although more towards the free end!!💰) Whilst we do a lot of wild camps, we always stay where we are allowed, and that helps us feel comfortable overnight. We’re far to old to be getting “the knock” in the middle of the night 😂😂 Thanks for watching Andrew, Jane and Buddy 🐶
Thanks Gareth, much appreciated. We love Cumbria after living there for 15 years, and Barrow always seems to be in he shadow of the more “popular” parts of the Lakes. Great to promote it 👍
We really enjoyed it, and will definitely be back, it always seems to be in the shadow of Windermere etc. we had to leave earlier than planned due to a technical issue with the van (in the next video) which was a shame. Andrew, Jane & Buddy 🐶
Love your videos and all the stop overs you go to especially the off grid one's. Can i ask have you ever thought of putting CCTV cameras outside on your van .We do a lot of wild camping off grid and not to sure on whether to pay out for some cameras. many thanks . Billy . Ps . Hope you keep on showing us the cheap or free park ups they come in very handy for us .
Hi Billy and thanks for your kind words 😊 The short answer is yes, have thought of cctv and would really like it. Not investigated it much beyond that though. Money is tight and my skill level for electronics is very low 😭 so makes it even more expensive 💸 Thanks for watching 👀 Andrew, Jane & Buddy 🐶
really surprised but happy you visited barrow. we also have roanhead as a beauty spot but currently decelopers are trying to gain permission for a holiday complex there, which many are against as it would ruin the tranquility and home of the natterjack toad, although we were not against visitors. i never really appreciated the park since i was a child. back then there was boating on the lake etc however it is better for the ducks and swans and geese that boating is stopped and i do agree. it wasnt until i visited Londons Hyde Park that i actually gained some real appreciation for just how much effort the gardners put in to it. we might not have the fountains and grand architecture but we do have a lovely park. if youre ever here again and use the park, there are toilets open withing during the daytime hours. past the lake through the second childrens park from where you were. piel island that you saw also has boats that run over from roa island. this is on the actual barrow peninsula itself, where the RNLI station is. not from walney. they allow camping on there for anyone interested. the castle usually has a king. i know they were electing a new one a year or so ago. i think they serve for 10 years amd are responsible for the upkeep of the island and the running of the pub. if you come again, be sure to also visit the hoad and birkrigg common in ulverston. if you do go to roa island for any reason, you can just drive down the coast road (the scenic route) until you get to bardsea to get to birkrigg amd if you just stay on that road it will get you to ulverston. also doen this road is the manjushri centre (buddhist) and conishead priory and woods, aldingham (one of the earliest places in the area mentioned in the doomsday book) it has a pretty little church called st cuthberts and an opening onto the beach. be sure to grab a Roys ices too.
@@Eurosully absolutely. try also to pay a visit to the queens arms at bigger village for a pint. the place has tons of history dating back to the 1600s. it was first licenced as a public house back then by some guy called John. its been houses, its been a court, the barn is built with a beam from the boats of the spanish armada. im sure it had hangings. i dont know if they still do but they used to out on a 12 hour live music festival at the beginning of july called noon til midnight where many local bands would come and play. going into the history of that will tie you into the history of the abbey and the first dwellings or cotes they established in furness, about the trade and the areas they owned and managed including piel and places as such near ambleside. im sure theres a story in some woods in the lakes related to a friar from the abbey. we have alot of history here but it has become buried kind of in the decline of the town centre. anyway. i hope you visit again.
Finally a channel that shows the nice safe places to park , thankyou

Thank you for a positive review of Barrow in Furness. Doesn't happen often.

Thanks for your comment and info- looks like there’s plenty more to see so we’ll be back to explore a bit more.
