Just had your vid come up - very interesting. I went to Carlisle recently (Nov '22) and drove around but could not find anywhere proper to park, like a car park, so I did what I usually do and just parked on a residential street - I've got a Transit van which just looks like a white builders van, and as long as you park where it's not going to annoy anybody, like near a drive - then I don't really get any trouble. I understand that this might be difficult with your van as it's quite large and very obviously a camper/MH.
I don't think you should 'have a word' with people just because they turn their engine on and off ! YOU parked next to him. The car park was very large, so YOU should have moved. The idea is NOT to draw attention to yourselves, and be polite and respect others. He probably was trying to keep warm by turning the cab heater on. It is winter after all. I think it was exceptionally kind of him to move !

Thanks for watching and for the feedback, much appreciated. With regards to the coach, we had a very polite word with him to check on his plans for the evening, after he sat with the engine on and off for hours. He arrived after us (the coach you see initially on the video was a different one and left) He could of parked anywhere in the massive area but chose to come next to us. We offered to move but the nice old chap moved and joined the numerous other coaches that had arrived in another area.
The car park is an official overnight stop over, with marked bays for Motorhomes so not an issue trying to stealth camp or not draw attention to yourself as you are supposed to be there and are encouraged to use it, we are always very respectful, I hope this video reflects that.
      Thanks again

Loving the series on places to stay. As a motorhomer of over ten years I agree it’s not just about the price/facilities now but more about the location, especially as the vans are so luxurious and self sufficient. How do you find most of your locations and do you book much in advance?

Hi Paul, thanks for the kind words. We rarely book anything in advance, the day before at the most, however it is winter so not many people out and about, I feel sure it will be trickier in summer. We use the Camping and Caravan Club app (Site Seeker, which is quite poor in how it works), we found the Carlisle stop on the local authority web site(s). We also use Facebook, in particular a group for UK Pub Stopovers, and of course Park4Night (we used this app in Europe too and found it very good, we also paid the subscription for the full features).
We are currently looking at wild/off grid park ups, around South Cumbria, hopefully generating some content for our next vlog 🤞
How about you, what kind of sites do you use and do you book in advance? Any hints and tips for us novices?
      Regards
      Andrew, Jane & Buddy
