Amazing!
You can download it from the provided link and watch it real time on your system. It's much better that way.
@BloodyRory
This video is a 100MB download (720p). Anyone could have created that in some 3D/post processing software. But the code that runs this show is a 134 kilobyte executable (7mb with all the data as a zip file), and it's 'rendered' in real time as you watch it. This is a culture that is about maximizing the coolness of the show and at the same time have the resources needed to run it as low as possible.
@BloodyRory
The demo scene is a form of digital art. It's a culture.
What you see in these videos, is recordings of real time code, graphics and music, put together by very capable groups or individuals, that showcase their imagination and abilities.
The "Assembly 2011" you see on the title, is one of the many parties that take place every year. Demos are released in these parties and not only demos.
I'd suggest to read some more about the demo scene in wikipedia! It's magical! :)
oldschool cool msx and propper codding.. szacun! cool!!
fantastic msx!
The resources needed to run it being as low as possible is of necessity when you have more than a million particles onscreen at once!
@blade004 What really impresses me is some of the demos that I've seen here on UA-cam that run on an unexpanded VIC-20! Not because of the quality of the demo, but because of the limitations of the VIC... only 5k of RAM, 3 tone generators, 8 colors, limited resolution (176 x 184 without using special tricks), and so on. Do a search for 'Robotic Liberation by PWP' if you're curious.
The second sentence is false, since Demoscene has different categorys, so a digital artist can do gfx, music, or a wild demo (aka. animated short). But it really started with coding, and thats why there are still categories like 64k, where the size of the code still matters, and the people who do 64k or less size demos are really pros. I have to mention that there are compilers or tools which let us non-coders direct a short animation and then simply compile it into a 64k executable.
@blade004 Yep, you're right... Can't expect younger people to expect to know what "the scene" is, I guess. It just got to me because I am a scener, enter these competitions and stuff and have done since I started in 1991.

It's just not fair when you're up against ASD who released Spin, which is just about the most awesome demo I've seen in ages!!! Yeah I know the ASD guys well. So... @BloodyRory, go and check out Spin by ASD and then you'll see what the demoscene is all about.
Kewlers, fucking good group, maybe the best!!
damn , amazing demo.
this is coded, right.
not an animation.
Great Demo Work.
But it is sad that there are no more good musicans in the scene today. Compare it with musics from the 80s or 90s on Amiga and C64....
Nowadays Music is very lame...
Nice. any chance to view the source code for that? I want to learn.
No i whant that too - Litttle Bitchard said on twitter Curly Brace dont touch this code again.
At the machine level, the kids of today, just don't appreciate it.
OMG cant run it smoth on a Gforce 525M @ Core-i5 2410M! :O
@BloodyRory2: If you don't know what the demoscene is, then you should probably be elsewhere. Go back to playing GT5 in your basement or something. You're probably only like 12, so it's all a bit beyond you and before your time.
Anonymous?
I disagree. This is a very interesting combinaiton of engineering and culture, but not the "pinacle of humanity's intelligence", that would be science.
Watcher, Lamer, whatever, from the 80's. Coding pisses me off and the maths. Time to go back to school.
Unfortunately, a lot of people are very ignorant.
