Not quite, Proof by contradiction takes the opposite proposition for example 'There is a finite number of primes' when proving infinitude of primes and proving some contradiction along the way, however disproof by counter example just finds one example to prove the whole sequence/proof doesn't hold
not really contradiction is when you assume the opposite. however counterexample is when you give one example of the qs. that makes it wrong. for example root 25 is rational. if your doing contradiction then you assume 25 is irrational and then do that stuff. but counterexample is when you find one exampke of it being false/true etc.
