One of the clearest explanations for compression I have found mate. I am only now staring to really get to grips with this essential but difficult to master effect. I wish I had found this video ages ago. cheers
guys just a heads up most of the kicks from the drumkits of popular youtuber/producers that is known for hipho, trap genres and the likes are already compressed to add punch. compressing it again this way may ruin the dynamics and character of the said kick. but if your making or using your own synthesized kick or recorded kick sound, this is very useful.
@@SpaceGhostPercc have u tried a fast sidechain ?? sidechain the kick from the bass or low end of the song and even in some cases you can try sidechaining it to the whole song...
Best explanation on planet 🥰🥰 I confused for long time that why compression can addd punch and low end because the sound is compressed, volume should be lower than uncompressed signal Finally, we add gain to compensate the compression, you rock on🤘🤘.
I startet making music a while ago and my Problem was, that my kick and Bass Sounds ... well think and flat and All Things IT should Not... i try this Out and hopefulky that will also Help with that sidechainthingy... i still learn that stuff... but thank you for that tipp
Yoooooo I fucking called that shit!! This whole time the past year I never touched the attack because everyone always says not to. What a bunch of fucking jokes
@@anthonycourey A limiter IS a compressor, just with a high ratio. You can see him switch to "comp" which is the compressor. It does the exact same thing as any other compressor
For the love of God unless you are wanting to be an engineer DO NOT WASTE TIME ON THIS! Buy decent kick sample packs for your genre and do not fcuk around!

i swear

Good point. Splice is full of horrible sounding ultra-compressed noise.
This is a life saving advice bro...thank u🙏
Okay but how do I get those kicks to hit through my mix? Alot of videos don't really help much. My kicks always sound dull and stupid.

@@jrvinwav can I side chain my my kick to the 808 and my melody at the same time from the same kick channel?
I too have a problem understanding attack and release.
It's definitely something that trips a lot of people up so you're not alone!
You explained ratio better than anyone! Thank you!
The most clear explaination why compressor adds punch
On Point !! No science study needed... Thanks
Damn man seeing this in a visual way rather than looking at numbers and graphs is so much better, thank you!
3:47 You said the release time is how long it takes the sound to go from compressed back to the originally compressed sound, please explain
that pickled my mind too. I think it was meant to say "back to the original UNcompressed sound" 👍
This really mean a lot some of us best so far

this guy makes sense, every video i have watched
Best explanation on UA-cam
Bro this is the most straight to the point video 🔥🔥🔥🔥 thank you
wow:) that was informative:) thank you

For me, it's very good explained❤
Very helpful video thank you!
Thanks bro you explained it very well and easy to learn. I've subscribed jus now.
What a intuitive tutorial!! 👍🏼
Bro! So clear bro...Cuz of u, from now on, my mixes will be more punchy...liked and subbed
The myth, the legend! Thank you so much for this explanation!
Literally cant hear the difference but the info sounds good! Thanks for video!☺
So fast attack slow release??
Fantastic explanation! ❤
Great video thank you so much, I subbed
Bruh! The best compression vid 🙏
Thanks so much!
Nice clean and simple 🤛🏻
Bro i need this kick please
Thx buddy nice 👍
Ur a clever teacher
I am using headphones I can't seem to hear the difference is something wrong or is it just me
I literally did not understand how to use compression properly until now
Great
gems always🔥🔥

what's your compressor ?

Haha, I can't hear it at all.
this is great for beginners. 10 years later youll wish you never learned this.
Hm... I don't hear any difference between compressed and uncompressed kick.
like and subscripted
I thought you said that you were going to "show" the difference between the two...🤔🤔🤔
he did...

This is exactly what engineers are thinking of making those samples, no fuckin around 👌🖕 75% of sample packs are unusable garbage anyway
No difference
