“No practice means… NOT GOOD” ProZD’s mom 2024❤
Sounds like something on a twoset violin t-shirt
And no more voice acting. Kinda glad won't be hearing this racist sob
Ling Ling approves
Vocal buray
This on a tee 😂❤
Jay inserting himself in fluent Korean is the greatest flex on SungWon
Hahahahaha so true!
That made my day! If I hadn't subscribed to Jay already, I would've done so.
I feel like the family resemblence between their faces is most evident when Mrs. Cho is visibly disappointed or unimpressed, which I guess shouldn't be a surprise lmao
'How about Cho?'
"We are Chos."
Peak comedy, no edits necessary
As a Korean learner I find this extremely useful
What are you using to study?
@@tobic7230 Duolingo and KoreanLessons101
LOL plz take care bc some of the subs have inaccurate grammar 😅
It was encouraging because I knew words he didn't 😂 not that I could understand anything she said, I am at the point where I understand 20% of a sentence and just guess the rest from the context. And sometimes I'm right 😂
@@danisky14people always take liberties with subs in general. If you start learning Korean and then watch kdrama it's maddening how much is wrong or changed for no reason, sometimes to the point where the meaning is changed. And that's on top of the fact most subs remove honorifics which can affect tone and even confuse viewers (if the honorifics are the only indication of relationship why would they not translate them, WHY???)
Most hilarious thing is when they translate borrowed English words into different English words 😭 like "style" is usually translated into "type" (like "he's not my type".) Makes no sense.
One night, alone in a Korean hospital, SungWon desperately tries to tell the doctors that he has concussion and also needs a blood transfusion
Unless he's in the boonies, most seoul hospitals will have english speakers😂😂😂
Your mom has such a good laugh and I love hearing her laugh at you. 💙
6:02 😂
@@hellosabrinachaneyThe most devious laugh
They have similar laughs!!
@@afreen5058 Totally!
I love these videos because they remind me that it’s pretty normal to have a specific understanding of a second language when you grow up with it but don’t use it everyday.
Ik they’re joking around in this video but knowing a second language when you aren’t living in a country that speaks that language is not easy! You lose the immersion needed to fully be fluent and aren’t going to come across many new words in daily life. It makes sense that Sungwon only knows extremely common words
I don't agree. It's easy if you speak it at home AND if you make an effort to watch / read media in that language.
@@TheAmazingHoho576
So basically if you have the ability to be fully immersed lol
@@Bubble-FoamThat's not full immersion. Full immersion would be living in Korea.
What I am saying is a good substitute for it though, and REALLY helps maintain it.
You can just tell Jay had so much fun with this 😂
His mom immediately jumping to “transfusion” when going for more difficult words killed me
In Swedish "Concussion" literally translates to "Brain-shake". Always liked that.
Likewise, in Japanese, it's "brain shock".
Same in German
I think we borrowed that to Finnish from Swedish.
Same in Danish
@@thomasakagi7545 It's the same in Chinese as well...
Your mom is the most wholesome yet stereotypical Korean mom and I love it.
"What is Cho?"
"Us, we are Chos"
I love how much attention went into the editing of this video. Thanks Jay!
After he did well on the previous "Korean Vocabulary" video, SungWon's mother decided to strike him down for his arrogance.
"'Turn off' the candles," makes sense idiomatically, and whether it was initially a literal translation or a mistake, I love when languages have little things like that. Apparently the Finnish language is almost nothing but nouns made up of 2 other words smashed together that loosely describe the thing, and I think that's so interesting.
Yeah Planet in Finnish is Dirt Ball haha.
@@Jabadamazo I didn't know that one! One of my internet best friends is Finnish and they've told me tons of examples of it. There's a word for languages that function by smashing words together to make new words, but I can't remember the term.
In French (or at least Canadian French) you don't turn the light off or out, you close it, like closing a door. My partner says "close the light" all the time
@@ScarlettTheViewer agglutinative
It's similar in Spanish, "apagar las velas", lit. "to turn of the candles"
5:13 haha it’s really sweet n funny how they laugh the same way
I also laugh exactly like my mother, it's good to know it happens to other people too.
성원씨, 한국어 공부 열심히 해서 근사하게 한국어 실력 자랑해주세요. 당신은 한국의 자랑스러운 대표입니다. 응원해요!
hey, the word for library around 7:33 sounds remarkably like the Chinese word for it too! It made me jump up in my chair to hear a word in Korean that I could connect to mandarin!
It comes from the Chinese. Actually, approximately 70% of modern Korean comes from Chinese. If you can read hanzi, the hanja for Korean words will probably be interesting to you. I actually think it would be nearly impossible, as an adult learning Korean, to learn it to fluency without studying the hanja because it makes it way easier to remember Korean vocabulary when you can remember the hanja. But since there are no tones, there are LOOOOTTS of homophones 😭
It's really similar in Japanese too. It happens a lot. I like hearing these words in the three languages. It's so interesting
THAI KWAN DOUGH(EAGLE CRY) LOL that was great
It is funny how much you learn from osmosis. Even not using Korean at all Sungwon still knows a lot.
사모님 이렇게 뵈니 넘 반가워요♡♡♡항상 늙지도 않으시고 그대로 활기차셔서 넘 보기 좋아요^^ 한국어 연습도 너무 재미있구요 ㅋ
this editing is absolutely amazing; i love seeing jay do new/different things and how they fit each style of vid- this one's killing me with how funny it is
It's my favorite editing he's done so far! Incredible. Really adds to the experience!
It's super off putting for me personally. To each their own I guess....
@@Facino yeah I personally found it super jarring and interrupting to the flow of the video
I'm sorry idk why but reading the little mistakes in the Korean spelling is so endearing
The editing here is so chaotic, it's very Japanese variety show 😂
It's why I love it.
considering jay is also gyopo i think he meant to mimic Korean variety in this video instead actually ^-^ we use a lot of grayed-out/dramatic SFX in editing too! the clip he edited in (2:47) is from "infinite challenge" was our most famous variety show it's super funny!! this isn't meant to be like a strict correction since it makes sense that ppl not familar w Korean media would think of Japan first--but we do have our own robust entertainment culture as well! i hope more ppl can know abt it
어머님이 밝으셔서 형님도 성격이 좋으신거 같아요 ㅋㅋㅋ 두분이 웃는거만 봐도 같이 기분이 좋아짐 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Your mom has such a nice voice to practice listening to, as someone learning Korean as a 3rd language this video was both fun and helpful, I hope to see more this again.
He looks like his mom when he crosses his arms but we also haven't seen his dad so I really don't know if I can compare him to his father cuz we've not seen him. But he really does look like his mom
Your laughs are so similar and you guys crossing your arms in much the same way, idk, it's just cute honestly
I love seeing Sungwon's mom personality when she's speaking he own native language. I could tell before but she's really funny and smart. Thanks for the subtitles, Jay.
Being raised bilingual is a superpower.
Note to the editor: I wanna play along too, so it would be fun if you just put up the korean word (with the phonetics) in the subtitles and don't reveal the answer until Sungwon's mom reveals it herself!
sungwon looks just like his mom! 🥺🥺 she is so beautiful 🫶🏼 also Jay did an amazing job editing this video 🙏🏼
Man I can't believe UA-cam allowed footage of such a graphic murder like that. And a mother taking out her son, no less. 😔 What a world we live in.
You and your mom have the same face and the same laugh. Glorious XD.
So dang adorable. I got caught up in this. It was a lot of fun. I hope to see this again sometime. You both have a cool dynamic. Had to like this one. Keep practicing, bro!
4:28 JAY YOUR EDITING IS DESTROYING ME KEEP IT UP!!
6:59 KJAHSDF
The editing is so good~ jay did very well! It’s a blend of Western and Korean edit lol! Hope you can visit Korea soon with your mom and do a Korean-speaking only challenge 🤣
My level of Korean is slightly under yours. Was following along trying not to look at the screen hehe. Numbers are a huge one that gets me hung up especially with two ways to count things or telling time.
oh my, you two sure do look similar
almost like as if you're related...
Listening to all these Korean words is very interesting. They don't necessarily sound close to mandarin, but they do have some similarities in some instances with other dialects, like Cantonese and Teochow
"Gun... face... fuck..."
I relate to the struggle of only kind of speaking your parents' language, and not really wanting to practice. You feel like you ought to know more, but learning a language to proficiency or fluency takes a lot of practice, and heritage doesn't automatically give you enough motivation.
your mom is so sweet, i can't take it 🥰💓
the look of disappointment on her face when he gets one wrong lol
Stationery stores are amazing. My students and I spent close to twenty minutes discussing different stationery we had and which ones we were planning on buying next just this week. Very common to go to one here in Korea it feels like, especially for older students and teachers.
As a Bulgarian immigrant who moved to the UK when I was super young and had no formal education in my mother tongue, I LOVED this video. It's so hard to keep up with the language, so sometimes it takes us relying on our parents/family to teach us in ways like this! I'd love to see more content with your mum or family and your heritage :)
The "wolf" edit 😂😂😂 Sungwon's mom for Smash announcer!
문방구ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ방구ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ못참지😂😂~ 어머님 유쾌하시고 재밌으셔요~~ 편집도 재밌고, 잘 봤어요~
She gives the perfect mom energy xD
I've read a few stories about people visiting in countries where they don't speak the language, and how scary and difficult being sick is in those situations because you just don't have the specialized vocabulary for medical stuff. Like even if you use Duolingo or whatever learning app every day, you aren't going to learn the translation for things like "pulmonary embolism" or "deep vein thrombosis" in your conversational language learning! I just thought of this since Sung Won doesn't know concussion and those kinds of words, that's very common for anyone with a second language.
Stuff like this is why it's great that translation sites/apps exist - you could look it up and seek help, whereas if you didn't have any good method of translating stuff back in the day (like a person that knows both your and target language or a good enough dictionary) you were not likely to receive relevant help.
PS If you know the language well enough, the alternative of explaining what you feel is always an option, though a subpar one still
It's why classification and categorization of fluency is helpful. There's a lot of levels to how much someone knows a language
Yeeeey! Been looking forward to a new episode 😄 your mom is hilarious
"How 'bout cho?"
"...we are Chos"
"You're much smarter than me."
"Ok, but your brain is much younger than mine." Lol as someone who has done many things where teachers have chastised me for not practicing she's not wrong, if you don't practice, you don't learn it.. I love these videos with your mom.
I love when Jay (I assume) edits these
8:48 killed me😂 she sounds exactly like the announcer
No thank you NBC chime freaking killed me
Top tier editing. Well done, Jay. 😂
Lol loved the editing bits so funny XD Always love seeing ProMom! 새해 복 많이 받으세요~
I love these videos. So wholesome 😀❤
The beginning edit was so good! Jay killed it editing! Loved the whole video! 😂😂
much love as always but the sound effects are very loud but the audio is quiet!
Best video to start 2024. A fun family video. This was special.
Love the normally chill vibes of this channel
But love the way this super chill video is edited to the extreme it’s great
JAY APPEARANCE
I appreciate your gender neutral snow being. 😂
lol love how she is barking the questions at him.
Edit was very funny!
Awww I miss Jay, happy to see him again
2:48 WHAT IS THIS SONG I CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE
edit: also love you jay your editing is so good :))))
bro 2:34 made me laugh so hard, amazing jay
Her mirthless, closed mouth laugh brings me life.
I was surprised to hear Jay say "감사합니다" for "thank you;" back when I did 태권도, we/students would use that term to thank a 사분님 (very loosely translated as "master," 4th degree black belt or above). I was under the impression that "감사합니다" was so polite you only really hear it in the military or in martial arts. Also, SungWon's "THAI-KWAN-DOUGH" pronunciation of "태권도" hurt me in my soul because I did 태권도 in college with someone who outranked me--she was a 3rd-degree black belt, and I was 2nd-degree at the time--but who made no effort to pronounce her Korean correctly, and it drove me fucking bananas that I couldn't correct her.
This was so entertaining and wholesome. I can see where SungWon gets the funny gene.
Also, the splicing in of the volleyball anime skit had me howling. Well done, Jay.
Thanks for sharing the story!
Just a slight correction - it's 사부님.
FYI - It uses the same Chinese characters for the word shifu.
@@ManBitter Ahhh okay, I had always seen the transliteration with two N's ("sabunnim"), so I assumed it was "사분님." Thanks!
As a German, the concept of _not being allowed to correct someone_ is somehow fascinating and absolutely maddening.
The French are already rage eating their béret at the suggestion they might not be able to correct someone.
(i'm a learner not a native speaker) 감사합니다 does have a particularly polite ending, but it's the most common way to thank people in basically any situation (i guess because thanking someone is an inherently polite thing to do lol). another more casual way would be 고마워요
Sungwon’s mother’s laughter is infectious
The way she said happy new year is so sweet!
I funny that I'm not Korean but I can somewhat understand "saeng-il" means birthday
Jay had fun editing this one
Note to the editor: please reduce the volume of the "da-ding!" sound for each word next time so I can hear her pronounce them.
because the word "fart" is funny regardless of any language.
tbh i didnt like the editing here that much. the 'wasted' part in the beginning especially went on for too long.
still, this is a nice video.
Your mom is so pretty!! I love these videos theyre so comforting and fun to watch yall are so awesome!!!
15 seconds in and already disappointed. Lovely.
I'm only at 0:54 and I'm already laughing! Your mom is great
The editing seems too high energy for the more laid-back vibe
This is adorable, but you should practice your Korean for your mom. Absolutely love your work. And Jay, you're killing it with the edits.
i was just watching another one of your videos and when i refreshed my youtube homepage after, this was the first thumbnail!! your mom is so funny, i love these kind of videos from you. also, i watched the first episode of dungeon meshi recently! i'm a huge fan of the manga and you did great as senshi! so excited to watch more
These are my favorite sung won videos
This is actually making me die laughing. Send help
6:01 there's a lot of good laughs in this vid but this one is particularly choice
eta: not a laugh but 9:51 is also Very Good
I love how he shows absolutely 0 interest in learning korean as his mother just: *smh...*
Always great to see more AjummaZD :)
The editing MAKES this one
Damn we getting a part 2. Hell yeah
Ooh, Jay is doing a great job!
your mom's laugh is adorable haha similar to yours but not as evil
Hahahahahahaha 3:23 You're kind of thinking, that's alright 🤷🏻♀️
Meanwhile, on his mom's channel:
"My Son Ranks Korean Vocabulary"
I wanna see you battle markiplier in a Korean off lmao
Ahhh my mom is always so disappointed in my Korean 😔
