I agree with most of it, but honestly I think the Olympic win just hurts Yuto’s chances to win. Thrasher wants to please the core skaters and that just brings the hate. Also the fact that his part is not on thrasher channel is not ideal.
I think John Dilo is a very strong contender. He had 4 parts this year already with “516”, Flora II, a venture part and the almost “Rosarito” video and he had clips in the “MV and AK” video too and he’s set to drop another part soon. He’s been on a kill spree since 2020.

Kinda surprised not to see Clay Kreiner edge out some of the bottom guys for his Delusional part. It was just BARELY in 2021, but I thought it was insane in terms of stylish transition skating, and a lot of the random Instagram/ads that he’s been in this year were crazy as well. Other than that, I think the list is super solid. That top 3 is so hard for me to personally sort, but I feel like those 3 are in a totally different tier than the rest of the list.

Im assuming nunez put his arm out just to get some leverage over his board when you think about it we are much taller and able to lean our weight over the board in a different way, for ex just sit on your board like he does with one hand on the nose and try and lean back.. either nothing or you fall straight back but if you use your other hand to counter balance it really makes a difference

Dashawn’s part is crazy good, every single trick is dope/line in that part is amazing, but the trick selection in yuto’s part with the technical grinds on the rails, mixed with his style is like watching an alien or something I’ve never seen before because I can’t really recall anybody really having a bag of 270’s/ 180’s tricks on handrails before. Maybe a 180 nosegrind, 5.0, boardslide/ lip slide, lazy bs 180 crook, but not into candy grinds, Bennett grinds, feebles/smiths. The tricks he’s doing is on some Skater xl, Skate, video game type level.

Felipe Nunes get a pass on the manuals for one simple reason, his lack of feet. I say that with no disrespect. He does not have the same balance capacity. He does have the luxury of lower center of gravity though.
On one hand Yuto had a great part and got gold at Olympics. On the other you got Evan Smith who got arrested for that amazing cover, and I think that energy is something to consider.

Kyle Walkers part was massive and I feel that was why it got lowered on your list. To me SOTY is the one usually who goes the gnarliest or hardest as a skater. I also don't see how that can lead to basically calling his part boring. Just an example, but Chris Cole has made questionable wardrobe choices but we watched the trick. Its like breaking down how he was feeling that day. I don't care what he wore because I never noticed it until it was pointed out. Same with shirt. If worst part of someone's skating part is their wardrobe, then we have no issues with part. We are skaters, outcasts make up a large part of our community and we celebrate their differences as expressions of themselves. NONE of us are fashion police for sure. ✌🏾
I completely forgot about both Dashawn and Yuto's parts. I think it's easy to dismiss contest skaters because if you ever watch contests it's easy to get fatigued by their trick selection, but they are definitely contenders. My favorite parts so far is either Jack O'Grady's or Tom Schaar, I was blown away by Tom's switch back three over the mega.
