I work across the street from the Agco facility on Trimble Road in Edgewood, Md. They have some gorgeous rigs going in there to pick up ag equipment. Most days they’re lined up in middle of Trimble road from Magnolia up to route 24 waiting to get in there to get loaded.
Great video Steve really enjoy all the camera angles and your commentary. Thanks for explaining the load tie down procedure for your load. Love the sound of Orwell pulling the hills and going down the hills stay safe Steve.
I have REALLY enjoyed your video time over the road, when the POV is from a forward facing camera, mounted high enough to provide a sweeping L>R view of the roadway at any moment of your drive. Near center in the lower portion of the screen, always belongs to Orwell. Your control of Orwell, is integral to these videos. TO BE CLEAR: I enjoy your videos in their entirety. That's why I love my old school trucks my man they will take you cross country and back home safely and get the job done as long as you keep the repairs on them up they'll keep going and going keep up the good work keep doing these good video catch you on the next one
Your video and your commentary are the best in the Vlog genre. Keep up the great work and keep rolling safe. Know that you have a devoted fan in Central Illinois.
Ah, Greencastle. As you were driving in, I noticed the radio station a friend of mine works at on the left at the end of the access road. BOB 101.5. Great rock station! I used to live in the cesspool that is Hagerstown, MD to the south. Glad I moved to NC when I did.
Great video! Love the old two lanes and the back-country scenery. That cat sounds great uphill and on the Jake. My computer is hooked up to SQUIRREL a 1976 Pioneer stereo system.
After watching this, it dawned on me that I never ran that stretch of 16 out to 522. So I did the right thing, and jumped on Google maps to see it for myself 😂. At first I thought it was 30, which wondered me. Keep up the good videos!
Almost a grand for fuel. This is BS! It’s starting to remind me of the late 70’s early 80’s, when fuel was way up, loads and rates were in the toilet, and I was scratching and clawing for anything just to stay above water. Felt like I never got out of that seat, and still barely made it. I hope that’s not what’s coming for you guys. Glad I’m retired right now.
Midwest hits $4.99 - 5.26 for diesel, preparemeat price going up. I haul lots of meat from packing plants. Prepare people. I think the energy States need to just pass laws and take over the production of there own States energy and push the Feds out of control. So the States can drill, produce, refine, and sell oil, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Alaska, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana. Also bring jobs back to these States. Forget these idiots in Washington DC.
Yep, you did a good job strapping that crane boom down. They definitely like to walk and move. They had an accident at Grove a few years back that killed some people. Loading those big heavy cranes is dangerous. Be well!
It's cool seeing areas that I know through Orwell's windshield. That T/A that you stopped at after going to Grove is across 81 from the apartment complex that I used to live in. And I used to work at the John Wayne truck wash. Now I live about 30 mins. east of there but I 've got friends that still live in the area so I still get out there quite a bit.
...nice videos -Steve- showing the life of a trucker with an old school truck=cab over. I am sure, U can buy a used modern truck n make it road worthy in your shop a little by little. Pennsylvania is pretty country but the turnpike at night with trucks is a scary ride. A little car passed me I heard the air brakes snap on the semi behind him I got off at the next exit with a hotel.
Very nice, an explanation of why you secured like you did. $5.59 a gallon and the engine is running? That’s old time trucking thought, when diesel was always cheaper than gas. I always got a fuel surcharge when the price spiked. It more than covered the actual fuel price.
10% grade. Downhill for 3 miles. T-intersection at end. It raining. At least its daylight. Good thing you didn't miss a shift and the 'jakes' are working.
Today I saw what appeared to be two large New Holland farm tractors being delivered to a local dealer in a basic dry box. (Bakersville. Ohio) They were packed in there tight, side to side top to bottom. Unfortunately my phone was dead so I could not get a photo. All I know is it was a Canadian carrier. I wanted to turn around to see how they could possibly be secured in a basic dry van, but I did not want to be a nuisance. Besides the guys looked fairly perplexed when I went around them anyway. (I basically started my driving career hauling construction equipment for a Case dealer with an old gasoline small engine powered detachable back in the '80s.) Anyway, what is your opinion about hauling big tractors in in a dry van? How do you suppose they could be safely secured?
what's the highest you ever pay to fuel Orwell Steve maybe about $1200? lol i do love that Karen joke its too funny...and your caterpillar engine sounds good always 😁
McDonald's 3 little pig's and coffee. If you see a schlotskys, they have a great orchard chicken salad. Sometimes a Safeway or other chain markets have decent salads.
Its for one raining and they may be light. They may have liquid doing the cha cha slosh. You dont want your trailer outta control up or down hill light load or heavy. They may just be being cautious as a big wind gust may put you into a bad situtation. Skate boards and low boys arent as prone to the wind causing a huge problem. Dry vans and conestogas get serious push and lift from winds. Drive to your ability and dont get bullied to go faster than your experience.
Steve. I hear the gear shifts and see you move the shifter. But I do not ever see your leg engaging the clutch. Is this through your experience that you can match the revs? I did see it at a stop sign.
