I've lived and worked in Anchorage most of my 70 years. My last work location was just across the road from Lake Hood. Incredibly busy place in the summer. Working outdoors all the time meant hearing and seeing the planes take off and land. My mother enjoyed going out to Lake Hood on Sunday afternoons just to watch the planes come and go.
Lake Hood is my family’s favorite place to go in Anchorage. Great memories made here watching our favorite planes. Beautiful footage. My son is a huge fan of Bush Planes, he’s three years old, and loves your videos. We watch Deja Vu before he goes to sleep almost nightly.
I worked at ANC back in 1968. I always remembered the lake with the float planes "docked" around the shores. As you would expect alot of changes since then.
Great video! This is EXACTLY what I do every time I fly out of Stevens. Absolutely love it! Especially the little shacks that have been painted to match their planes.
Hey! The Beaver actually made it off safely this time! Not like the guy who flew into the ground a few years ago..... Pretty sure that was at Lake Hood. Could be wrong, though.
I'm still alive, thanks. Going through a tough patch with work/kids/no free time. I AM editing a new video though. Check Instagram @backcountrypilot ✌️
The quality of filming, sounds and editing is top level, thank you very much !

That slip at the end. Then the pontoon bounce... I let out a little woohoo. Haha. Great shots of awesome pilots and airplanes.
Enjoyed that. Didn't notice the heavy breathing until you mentioned it. Always look forward to your videos. Swirly Girl is my favourite.
Beavers really look perfect. Just a perfect machine.
Beautiful sights and beautiful sounds!
so windy !!! great job!
I miss walking around Lake Hood during my airline layovers. Hope to get back to Alaska after I finish my Bearhawk Patrol. Thanks for the video.

It was a privately owned Beaver right in that channel, in a crosswind. Wicked crash.
I would love to fly the 185 on floats to see the difference on flying characteristics
What are you pulling focus with? DSLR? Just really wide aperture?
Not really pulling focus at all in this situation. Lens approx 300mm. High F number, focus pretty much infinity.
Thanks!
Also, who voted a thumbs down? This is awesome footage!
Whoever it was took it back after a second watch!
Its been a long time since you uploaded.... you okay?
