- A quick tutorial on how to attach shot to your line for float fishing without damaging your line and potentially costing you a fish. Also learn how to easily remove shot so you can reuse them later.
I have a lot of used lead shot..hopefully this works...or centerpin angling gets that remover tool back in stock..thanks for the tip man
As long as the shot has a straight channel it will work, you just need a screw driver with a thin enough blade.
I just got the new version of Centerpin Angling's shot removing tool but haven't used it yet . I've got a bunch of used and tangled shot lines , going to try to salvage as many shot as I can for re-use.
They're so expensive nowadays, re-using them is the only way to go. I've heard that tool works well, but I'm still using the old screwdriver 👍
Thanks!
This was helpful, thanks!
I usually run slightly heavier line to a swivel, and then run the lighter line to the hook. The shot gets placed just above the swivel. Granted this setup isn't for float rigs. Too many times my shot gets stuck and pulled to the hook during a drift, leaving the line looking frayed and milky.
That's a good tip, we run a similar rig on the Niagara River where there are a ton of snags. Easier to tie a new hook and leader on then to lose your whole rig. Thanks 👍
