Wow I’m taking lessons and we bought a kit to start landscaping and I have spent almost $300 for a few brushes this is very helpful because I am just learning and I am looking to exploring with portraits and knowing now that I don’t need to spend $300 is great. Thank you!

I have Rosemary & Co. Pochade Box set which consists all ivory brushes with different shapes and sizes and I really love them. Never tried their bristles, hope I can give it a go someday.

I have used Silver Grand Prix, Princeton ., Escoda and Rosemary. With that said there are wholesale brush distributors who buy left overs. When the California Art Institute was operating in Thousand Oaks a guy would come out from Los Angles with literally thousands of brushes lay them out on floor for people to pick through.
The Escodas arnt holding up. The Silver grandprix they hold up the best. Just started using Rosemary.

You should always check what the brushes are intended for so that you don't waste money on brushes you'll end up ruining.

. You get what you pay for. I'm not a fan of Rosemary brushes. They get too fluffy at the ends, eventually. Good quality hog's hair brushes aren't cheap. I like sable brushes for fine detail.
