This might be the most impressive performance of GSP's career tbh. Yeah finishing Hughes 2x and the revenge on Serra was great, but this was an absolute 25 minute domination of a very game top contender in Jon Fitch who had all but cleaned out Welterweight, and GSP made him look like an amateur in there.
we can all agree GSP is the most complete fighter of all time, a wrestler that has proper striking and can utilize all of his weapons without taking much damage
Well, he was a striker first who somehow developed top of the line wrestling far faster than he should have been able to. Remember, he came to the ring in a karate gi for a reason.

Fitch might be the most underrated fighter in UFC history. If GSP wasn't so damn good Fitch would have been champion.
@PJ Rivera entertaining you is not his job..his job is winning the fight and taking the least amount of damage. Clearly you've never been to any martial arts gym in your life.
@PJ Rivera It's that kind of thrash logic that gets us forced to watch guys that are clearly washed up getting beat up for the sake of 'entertainment' .
Olympics counts as entertainement too and still results are everything. Call me a purist or w.e but your kind of reasoning is what ruined boxing.
If you think the fights are boring then change the rules accordingly.
@PJ Rivera And your point? I said change them accordingly, boxing is dying. Do you understand what accordingly means?
@PJ Rivera Boxing is not dying look ! We have a youtuber and an old man past his prime ! The mere fact that you have to mention them prove how low boxing has become. You can't kid anyone, the days of quality boxing where the top guys would actually fight eachothers is long gone. It's a cash grab for casuals now.
@PJ Rivera Pacquiao is washed lmfao, Canelo vs Saunders made 900k ppv, Fury vs Wilder did 850k meanwhile Mayweather used to make 2 and a half million back in 07.#notdyingtho
By the way 99% of boxers and mma fighters make shit money, everybody knows that. In MMA the belt allows you to promote your image as the best in the world and then market yourself as such, fighters under UFC contract aren't allowed to fight outside of it and that's a good thing.
No amount of boxing belts lead by garbage orgs will ever compare. When the UFC copies boxing and does huge mistakes like kicking or blaming someone for being boring without really good reasons it's a massive mistake.

Then you get mauled like you're not even in his league. Young MMA fans likely don't even know who Fitch is, history only remembers the winners. RIP Jon Fitch, an extraordinary fighter forever in the shadow of a legend.
I love GSPs superman jab and leg kick combo.
Real talk Jon Fitch was one of my first ever favorite fighters in MMA, Dude was a beast and honestly looked unbeatable for awhile, It was unheard of back then for a fighter to go on such a huge win streak, By the time he had won 5 in a row it was wild he hadn't got the title shot yet. Was truly the dark horse of the sport. Dude was so dominant but not exciting by any means, Imagine Khabib without the ground and pound lol "Embrace The Grind" lol that was the story of every Fitch fight. I remember when he fought GSP I honestly thought Fitch would push him to the limit, This was the fight that made me never bet against George again, Absolute masterclass by GSP. But also great display of toughness by Fitch. Also, Nothing gave me goosebumps quite like Fitch coming out to Johnny Cash's Rusty Cage and timing his walk into the octagon exactly when the switch up happened in the song.
This was such a one-sided fight
Should have been stopped
I watched this live, great fight.
GSP is my absolute favorite fighter ever. I truly believe if he was in his prime in 2021 he would still be champ.
Easily. If people knew their MMA history, they would truly know that MMA hasn't evolved as much as they think it has since 2010. An argument can be made that the top 5-10 guys in the 2010-2013 Era are better than today's Era of fighters. Humans didn't suddenly evolve to the next level the last 5 to 7 years. GSP would be just as dominant in today's MMA, if not, more dominant.
@@one0onelion248 yeah cause people have been fighting for thousands of years but we just figured out how to do it in the last 5 years! like these guys in 2012 clearly had no clue what a jab or a left hook is. they just want to hype up current fighters saying they are all on a different level and it works, sadly.

As a hard core GSP fan I always feared Fitch for his elite MMA game. However, watching this fight prove to me just how great GSP was. I was so impressed with Georges' speed and his ability to use a mix bag of mixed martial arts to get the win. This was a fantastic win especially after all of the questions that he isn't a true champion unless his defends. Well he definitely did and then went on to destroy Penn in the next fight. Great vid man.
Fitch wasn't dangerous, but incredibly good at control. GSP's ability to crush people at their own game is unmatched, even today. The jab is the key to all striking IMHO.
And people still think Khabib can defeat GSP
From Quebec George was at the beginning better known in USA and Japan than he was in Canada!!!
We are really Proud of the supers athlete and perfect gentleman, as opposite at Matt Huges Georges is humble like a real leader is.

How did George become such a good wrestler he didn't even grow up wrestling to take down all Americans and stuff their takedowns with ease it's crazy
His black belt in bjj might’ve helped
His fight IQ was extremely ahead of the mma curve at the time. Allowed him to dictate his takedowns like a master chess player.
he spoke about it a few times... he credits his karate background. his take downs and sprawls are based on the timing he used to get in and out of range in karate competition.
He trained with Canadian Olympic wrestlers
His wrestling coach was Russian!!
