Things we've learnt:
Ian loves natural light, Hafeez loves travelators, and Jerald loves Woodleigh.
When i go woodleigh i just buy the old chang kee snacks and go school
"Orchard station is small"
The 13 exits in orchard: am I a joke to you?
They mean the North south line
Its cramped.
@@superpogs go check it out for yourself. Last time it was small. But with the TEL now it has 13 exits in the station.
Nobody takes the TEL bro. Only Woodlands people.
@@superpogs me who sees people boarding from the central area in tel
At first I was like...rating MRT stations??? What's interesting about that...but the 3 of them made it so fun to watch 😆Please have Ian on more!!
I love the edits here. Despite being a potentially dull topic, the talents and the editors performed so well that this video is unexpectedly wonderful to watch!
Justice for Punggol 😭😭😭
I love how they broke down the functionality and spatial planning of the stations :”) More of these semi-nerdy analyses please!! e.g. rating public toilets / malls / cinemas lol
Didn't know I needed a video rating MRT Stations, but hey this trio made it fun to watch.
Their knowledge of mrt stations 🤯 wasn’t expecting that
I have to disagree with Serangoon MRT because of the peak hour crowd, and some of their signs directing people to exits are so confusing.
Bayfront MRT literally follows the same layout as Raffles Place, just that the lines are operated by different companies and it really isn't as complicated as it seems (just open your eyes and follow what the signs say)
Orchard MRT isn't small lol, it literally has 13 exits.
P.s. not jereld getting triggered by Pasir Ris MRT because of NS lol
orchard mrt platform before u go up is rly small and crowded
Orchard mrt is a maze to me
nooo what is this punggol slander :( punggol is really very modernised now, got a lot of parks and new malls
It is one of the modern looking towns in SG. Glad I live there.
I used to live there till 2021
Then I went to my grandpas house
Then I moved to Tampines On 2022
Serangoon having an A is definitely a mystery.. the purple line platform is too small to cater to the peak period crowd tbh
serangoon is full of sweaty kids that just finished their PE Classes
Lol Newton station unlinked exit is not because they’re run by different stations. It’s because of space constraints. LTA couldn’t find space to make a paid linkway. Outram Park is serves 3 lines and they have paid linkways within the EW line, NE line and TE line. So it’s not about it being run by different companies.
*different companies
exactly
They could have made a paid linkway below instead of above the NSL platforms, but probably that's more expensive, & in Singapore I guess its done only when you don't have a choice e.g. BIshan (where Junction 8 would get in the way of a connecting passageway above instead of below the NSL platforms), Orchard (which is surrounded by ION Orchard above it), Outram Pk (for its EWL-NEL linkway) (whose concourse above the EWL platforms was tiny & surrounded by emergency stairs & M&E rooms, until we bit the bullet & remodeled them to expand the concourse to accommodate TEL)
I think Bayfront should get a higher rank because it’s design can let passengers need to transfer between two lines don’t need to get up or down and can just go across to the other side is quite convenient.
Like S or A!
@@lowsimlim9299 Yeah!!!!!!!!
'Tampines MRT is like a mini jurong.'
Westies: Rejoice! The man says the truth.
Easties: Oi! Jurong follow us nia....
Ian, you want start war or something?
Tampines does feel more crowded probably as its malls & roads are physically smaller, & is home to more residents that Jurong E
Simei MRT station always smell like durian 🤢

Guess rating on bus terminals will be coming soon?
No we are mrt gang
Waterway Point is a solid mall! 😢
i have a slight debate about bayfront actually. if you realised, both platforms at the very bottom floor accommodates to people heading towards promenade station (to access suntec). so if you think about it, it’s not that dumb of a layout as you think.
why no boon keng 😨😅 thought it will be one that alot of the tsl folks will be very familiar with 😏
Tapping out and back in at Newton is simply a matter of station design... not because of the different companies. If that was the reason you'd need to tap out and in at Macpherson since CC and DT lines are SMRT and SBS correspondingly. Same with Expo.
Anyway don't anyhow hantam... Changi station was opened only in 2002 and City Hall 1987... 😅
Yea exactly, was about to say lol. Could have done better research before saying like fact. If his argument held true then Dhoby Ghaut wouldn’t be able to connect NE (SBS) and NS (SMRT) line lol.
Agree serangoon is damn bad. The crowd is crazy, made me realize how many Malaysians are in Singapore
Ian and his Ian world 😂😂 I this trio is golden ❤️
Ian adds flavour to this trio
The tapping out from mrt station at the intercharge is not entirely factually accurate? Botanic gardens - circle line is operated by smrt and downtown line is operated by sbs transit yet it is not necessary to tap out to change the 2 lines
Nope, need to tap in and out NOT due to different company.
Bugis - Green line by SMRT, Blue line by SBST.
Serangoon - Yellow line SMRT, Purple line SBST.
And Outram station.
Just a few examples that don't have to tap out and in again.
It just that LTA not able to build and dig a connecting link way due to spare around the area. So have to tap out and in again.
If not wrong, all lines are builded by LTA.
Yeah it's just the design. Newton also same (need to tap out and tap in).
Yea such is the case with BP LRT and MRT too due to the land and existing infrastructure, end up have to tap and walk from underground to above ground to transfer.
I cannot believe you rated city hall that high. Idk why but I hate that place with a burning passion. I would go the extra mile to alight at Raffles place instead of City hall to change lines.
And Harbourfront. TOP. S tier. What more can you want from an MRT? You go up to see such a big place, the mall is there right at your face, got some food stalls like 7/11 there also. Bonus points with the sky train or the long extended underground walkways to the bus-stop’s and to the other mall. Op in my opinion. Plus the crowd doesn’t feel stuffy because of the wide space, only after the Mrt you will see all the ah boys and girls waiting for their friends/lovers, THEN it feels stuffy and crowded.
With better foreword planning HarbourFront station could've been more convenient, with cross-platform interchange between NEL & CCL. Without that, its escalators now get snaking queues with people needing to use them to transfer between lines
Not true that newton the reason need to tap out. Bugis is run by SMRT and SBS and dont need to tap out. Any reason? Don’t spread falsehood thanks
could be how the station is constructed. i’m also not sure
The Punggol/Sengkang LRT is a design not for the simple brain😅
I would put dhoby ghaut at max A cause there is no straight bridge to the mall. i need to go down the long escalator then go up the small escalator, very mafan. stadium C cause if u get off at the wrong side, u must walk outdoors, why no indoor corridor? bishan C cause only 1 train on some platforms and the passage way is quite small. outram park D cause the escalators from green to purple line is at 2 far ends. and then one of the ends only got escalator going in 1 direction. so to go down, u need take stairs. and the stairs damn small
I agree with you on Dhoby Ghaut!
For Stadium, there is an indoor corridor along the edge of the station building, but it's very easy to miss it.
& you have to go up, down, & then up again to transfer between NEL & TEL & Outram Pk station. With more forward planning perhaps it could have had cross platform interchange between EWL & TEL
Dang it I can never get the Bayfront escalators right
HarbourFront?
Botanic Gardens?
Bugis?
Paya Lebar?
Yishun?
Little India?
MacPherson?
Choa Chu Kang?
Bukit Panjang?

Me hearing ‘I hate nex’ when Serangoon is one of the nearest MRTs to my house and I used to go there a lot 😢
Also, same Jerald, I live a few bus stops away from Woodleigh
Rate all old block hawker the whole team PD know including the intent also know
Like bedok 85, 115, ABC hawker for example ...
justice for punggol 😭
Same, I don't think they visit Punggol often.
i expected better from sengkang but fr there’s nth much there but it has 3 malls (cp1,rivervale plaza & rivervale mall)
the “welcome to kaki bukit” handwritten note deserves a bump up !!!!!
jur east station the platforms really confusing... and the last time i went there in 2019 damn hot compared to other non aircon stations like paya lebar ewl, yishun, amk etc. wld say one of the worst stations imo.
side note why do they even call braddell mrt braddell when braddell road is so far up and bishan ya i also feel the station layout messed up and the crazy crowds both peak and offpeak really jialat but i appreciate they renovate the nsl station la unlike other interchange stations
speaking of buses should try reviewing crowded buses also. toa payoh bus 145 and 238 the queue longer than michellin star hawker queue liao, 145 even weekend also jialat that i sometimes better take 143 and walk to my destination
I thought this video gonna be boring talking about MRT stations but this 3 plus the editing, i just can't stop laughing 😂😂😂
lol mrt need to rate ? alight walk off already , only gripe is need to walk so much within the changing of mrt
I had a friend who would always roast Woodleigh because literally no one gets on or off woodleigh except international school students, so he was always complaining that it was a waste of time.
And based on this video ah it proves my long-held belief that purple line is best line.
Now quite a lot of people alight at that station to transfer to 100/155 to get to Joo Seng neighbourhood & industrial estate though, as well as to go to Bidadari town & Woodleigh Mall
to ian: pls visit jurong east during peak hour. IT IS FCKING CROWDED
Somerset has to be my lifetime favourite
Because of peak hour crowd in Serangoon I would rate D. Haha
"im starting to like you ian" 😭😂😂😂
Wow I stay at Canberra too!
They miss out the Bishan smell.
Im offended that Punggol got ranked lower than Sengkang
Fair points for us being at the end but heck, Punggol mrt is definitely better than Sengkang mrt
"jurong has the first ikea out of tampines" is queenstown a joke?
The first IKEA is at Alexandra!
The info about Newton Downtown line not being linked with the NSL is wrong. Its not because they are run by different companies. If that was the case they would have to tap out at stations such as Dhoby Ghaut or Suntec too. Its because building a link is very complicated in the Newton area that they shelved the plan. Just a feedback haha.
You wouldn't have needed to tap out I think if the underpass between NSL & DTL was beneath the NSL platforms instead of above, but I think a proposed S'pore Underground Road System (SURS) tunnel got in the way (SURS was officially cancelled 2 yrs after the DTL platforms opened though)
JUSTICE FOR PUNGGOL
Some MRT walk very long distance walk up & down to other line give you tired and exhausted some more very confusing place give you headache, dizzy and angry or laughing for your self😂because you may go wrong side without know anything
Not to mention when a tourist asks you for directions and you’re like ????? 🙂 ????
@@TheSmartLocal I will tell them I was confused too
TEL to NSL in Woodlands is a bit tiring.
Pls upgrade Junction 8 so old looking
maybe rate Stevens next time...
"the design is a sandwich!
DTL
TEL (both directions)
DTL"
Who takes the mrt everyday
⬇️
nope
Wheres woodlandssas
lol was waiting for yishun 😭😭
yishun condem la , alight there must buy bomb insurance
The 1st guy mentioned about if 2 lines if manage by difference company so have to tap out and tap in... what about Outram ? Is both SBS and SMRT manage and don't have to tap out and tap in.. Is just poorly design by the Architect .. the Blue line is the most poorly plan and design line
I agree with the right guy, the east side LRT is completely confusing, cck lrt is a riding torture
I agree w hafeez!! BUSSES R A MUST!
I was looking forward to see Bukit Panjang MRT but you didn't do it 😢
Part 2 pls!,! With brown line aso!!❤❤
I guess one thing about Kaki Bukit is that it's DT line, also relatively new and more modern looking design. Plus point is that the buses from the bus stops nearby connects between the East & the Northern Central part of Singapore (ie. From Tampines transitting to Toa Payoh). Tried and tested.
I love City Hall, Raffles, Clarke Quay.
Heavy rain will always kena spray at JE 😢
Y'all should try ranking the different mrt lines
NEL might not do so well, with its trains having more hunting oscillation compared to other lines, so its less steady when you're standing
part 2 please
I think you guys should've used categories to rate the stations not just personal opinions. Also, would've been nice to mention which stations these guys always take so we can understand their perspective when they are judging each station. Just my two cents. Love the video tho, watched the whole thing.
Were is yishun
hafeez to rate bus models
What's the point of rating MRT stations if all the rides are noisy with surplus announcements that are too loud & chimes that are too long?
You don't get a peaceful ride. You cant relax.
i am a punggol person theres wwp the lrt got plaza like coral edge got punggol plaza oasis got oasis terrace sam kee got one punggol
(Orchard so small)
Me: there is 1interchanges in orchard are can you use your brain
Be prepared to be triggered people
KAKI BUKIT FTW
I don’t like stadium there is like crowded and circle line is broken (a lot of times)
Why didnt include the brown line that just opened?
Or mentioned
Honestly I'm surprised that they didn't review Paya Lebar MRT. It's literally connected to like 3 shopping malls and has two lines. It's so convenient and there are a ton of bus routes.
Because of this station's name I bet we now have a generation of S'poreans who think Paya Lebar refers to the region around this MRT station, instead of around Paya Lebar Air Base & Tai Seng's Paya Lebar iPark. The same is happening with Yio Chu Kang MRT station vs Yio Chu Kang Rd I think, & next time will likely happen with Upp Thomson MRT station & Upp Thomson Rd too
wah how they know so much about all the mrt stations. some i dont even go sia
Lack ah , punggol safra now got wingstop relax ok?
Braddell MRT is the most challenging station to be built among the 5 original MRT stations that opened in 1987. Why it has side platforms is because there was simply no space for the tracks to split to accommodate an island platform - the tunnel had to squeeze through 2 pairs of HDB blocks and then underneath another block, which involved temporary relocations of 8 families living directly above the tunnel during construction of the MRT as they had to partially demolish and rebuild the first 3 floors of the block. For a long time until the DTL was completed, Blk 206 TPY North was the only HDB block in Singapore to have an MRT tunnel passing underneath it. Braddell MRT is an engineering feat for the 80s that could be its own video.
The platforms feel a bit too confined as there's a dividing wall between them. Same goes with Bishan (NSL), Downtown, Telok Ayer, Chinatown (DTL) & MacPherson (DTL) platforms also
Braddell MRT and Toa Payoh MRT both only got escalator on one side at certain exits, going up but commuters have to go down the super long staircase to get to the station. Toa Payoh is now installing another escalator by next year. Finally.
Meanwhile Kt Ridge MRT station could benefit with both escalators in the upward direction during morning peak, unless you want to climb the 80 steps from platform to concourse level
Oi punggol the best got university here
Around 2025.
Highly offended by the fact that I live in punggol
This was surprisingly entertaining 💗
3:27 HEADSHOT! +50 Points
Don't forget katong PARK
Outram park is the best mrt station in Singapore
More of this trio please!!!!
Chinatown isnt DT 9 its DT 19
Don’t forget Woodlands
Chinatown is DT19 not DT9 🤦🏻♂️😅
Saw that too 😂
NS12 is good
KAKI BUKIT-IANS' UNITE
TEL TEAM
Good news that Punggol will have the cross island line! More accessible
the bayfront why cant they jus put like DTL 2 level A&B
then the lowest level for circleA&B?
If you raced from Bukit panjang to pasir ris via bugis it's downtown line and east west line
For bugis, the line transfer doesn't require tap in tap out and at bayfront, it's just crossover
