Excellent! A few plot holes.but hey, Hollywood has 'em too! Strong, steady pacing, good soundtrack, and fine cinematography. I really was immersed in this!
Let me just say that every single frame of this film was shot beautifully.Big props to everyone involved specifically the DP. I am extremely happy I got to see this film!
Excellent repro of the fabulous film noir Age.....beautifully and skilfully shot, well-acted with a great voice-over.The lighting was superb. In short, production values of high professional standard.
This was such an incredible film. Loved the choice of film-noir and the plot-twist. The cinematography, editing, sound and directing were just some of the highlights! Well done and can't wait to see more of your work. :)
This is so fantastic. Every shot and every line is on point and delivers exactly what it intends to. Compare this to some of the Hollywood movies they are throwing out now, and the genius of this short is clear.
I agree with many other commentators - this is one of the most well-crafted short films I've ever seen. Acting, writing, direction, design, editing, music.... while I personally don't like dark endings very much, this film still turned out excellent.
That was just perfect. The lighting, cinematography, characters and especially the dark story were really honest to the film noir genre. I've seen a bunch of short films in my life, like Nolan's Doodlebug, and Imperfect knocked them all right out of the park. 10/10 for sure. I would like to see some behind the scenes clips just to know how u guys did it :)
I rarely comment on anything, But WOW!!! Outstanding story, acting, directing and terrific scenery (the girl). Keep putting out this kind of movies. I'll keep watching... Al.
This was very much worth watching. Also, although this probably wasn't the writer's intent, it's a fine piece of feminist allegory as well. It shows the dangers of men idealizing women and of wanting them to be perfect. Women are human beings first and, as such, have imperfections. The only time that stops is when women stop being human. If the photographer and Emma had lived, but he still found out what she really was, I wonder if he would have stayed with her?
Hey Kimberly! Thanks for watching! Also, as the writer/director, I'd also like to say thank you for your comment! It was absolutely my intent for the piece to be as you said a "feminist allegory," but I think many people miss that aspect of the story. Some people have even thought my goal was the exact opposite (it's a hard balance to find-conveying a message but not being heavy-handed). But I always intended for Holloway to be a flawed protagonist, whose obsession with "perfection" had gotten so twisted and influenced that it was beyond something even physically possible. And unfortunately that idealization is really not far from our reality. And that's a very interesting question you pose... :) So anyway, thank you for your comment! As a creator, it's very nice when people value what you've done and see your intent. :) -MT
This is good work. Stylish, thought-provoking, insightful, and relevant. Shades of Michael Crichton's "Looker" and Fritz Lieber's "The Girl with the Hungry Eyes."
I....I don’t know what to say... Half an hour ago I was watching “Fantastic Beasts 2” And I have to say this is A MILLION TIMES BETTER! congratulations! You did better than Warner Bros.!
one of the best short films I saw... realy great work.. love the noir mood...well done with the hard striplight.. nice shadow work... go on like that..
Very nice - and thank you for filming it in black and white ; for all the fancy tricks they come up with , nothing cuts through all the bullshit and gets to the real cold , hard truth of the matter like black and white
I recently discovered you guys, and instantly fell in love with your short films. I've been watching them on and off over the last couple of weeks, and this has been the last one for me. It's sad to be at the end now :( Still though, your videos are awesome!
Aw! Thank you so much for watching all of them! And thank you for the sweet comment :) We're really glad you enjoyed...and we will hopefully keep creating new things to share with you in the future. Thanks again :D -MT
Well done. The only thing that didn't fit in was the knife at the end. Imperfect Emma was shot, so Perfect Emma's tale of "He killed her and I shot him" wouldn't work.
Since the story is the Emma 2.0 shot him in self defence, so therefore neither Emma gets killed (in the story Emma 2.0 plans to tell the police). So I guess Emma 2.0 plans to hide Emma 1.0's body before the police arrive.
Your movies are just perfect, you are really doing a great job. I really can't wait for your new series. Hope we hear from you soon, keep the good work comming!
Oh my god, like I want to buy this. I was just wandering around on UA-cam watching a few short films when I saw this. Visually beautiful, easily one of my new favorites, amazing job on everyone's part! But if there is someway to purchase it i would be very interested.
Great film and effects. Only thing that really killed it for me was that you could've simply used a black sharpie to color in the "Canon" logo on your camera; for they OBVIOUSLY wouldn't have had such a modern camera with such a brand back then.
Great movie! Among the new ones you will make in future, please do historical genre (Like in Victorian or Elizabethan times). Probably will be expensive due to picking the setting or finding good costumes. But if you will do it, it will be great!
Thanks! We'll give the whole historical genre thing some thought...cost may be a little bit of an issue. But we are working on a project that is a *little* bit of a period piece...doesn't take place in present day, anyway.
finitefilms Sounds great! There are some other genres also left which you could try: fairy tale, psychological thriller (Silence of the Lamb style) and horror (with haunted houses and possession). Whatever genre you will pick in future, keep up with a good work! You are doing some reaaally good stuff here.
That was probably the best short film I have ever seen. OMG I"m freaking out that was so good wow.....just wow.
Wow, thank you so much. That means a lot to me. :) - Michael
No problem! Great Work!
Excellent!

Let me just say that every single frame of this film was shot beautifully.Big props to everyone involved specifically the DP. I am extremely happy I got to see this film!
Incredibly stylish and well executed! You've got a big fan here!
Somehow, black and white allows for more viewers to imagine details that did not have to be spelled out in color. I liked this. Bravo.
Thank you! I really enjoyed shooting this film in B&W...there is something special about B&W and how it affects us. -MT
Staggering and insanely beautiful! To me, this movie was perfect, all in all one of the best neo noirs I've seen. Just love it!
Wow. The best short film. I became a fan of this channel after seeing stealing time. Even the BGM is superb. Who disliked this
One of the best short films I have ever. Loved the the prestige like plot twist!!!!

Out of curiosity, how'd you find the short film?
pretty much new she was a synthetic the minute he said she was perfect
Excellent writing and excellent casting. Well done.
Awesome! It constantly had this 'Max Payne' feel to it. The monologue, 50-ish vibe, everything! :)
This is so brilliant. I never thought that you could make a great film noir with just under 30 mins. Excellent job!
Thank you!
Definately one of the best short films i´ve ever watched!! Such perfect!!! The Score was amazing!
This is so fantastic. Every shot and every line is on point and delivers exactly what it intends to. Compare this to some of the Hollywood movies they are throwing out now, and the genius of this short is clear.
Fantastic work. Really captured the noir genre!
I was on the edge of my seat for this film, and I loved it from start to finish.
Great film, I truly loved the transitions and the acting. Nice work!
Fantastic work guys :) the 40's noir style constraint in particular was really consistent and well done.
Seen this shirt before, but wow does it need many viewings! Excellent storyline, beautiful actress in Marisa. Thank you.

So good it kept me watching all the way! I’ve got a real short attention span so that’s impressive!👍👍👍
Well done! You pulled classic noir in a modern context very well! My fedora off to you.
I recently discovered you guys, and instantly fell in love with your short films. I've been watching them on and off over the last couple of weeks, and this has been the last one for me. It's sad to be at the end now :( Still though, your videos are awesome!

Does she spell her name "E.M.M.A."? That Emma was a robot as well, and, a VERY good sci-fi short on UA-cam as well.
Fucking spoilers?!!!
