You realize how blessed we were to have lived through the 1980’s with so many great Southern Gospel groups …. Gold City, Cathedrals, Kingsmen, Bishops, Easter’s, Hoppers, Talleys, Imperials, Inspirations, Mid-South, Quinton Mills … the list goes on and on.
I have a brother that’s in the hospital fighting for his life he has the carona virus and has pneumonia and sugar keep my brother Chris in prayer
Praying for your brother sister
Nineteen year old Brian Free! Wow! Best tenor ever!
Great music from back on the days. The tenor has a great voice the musicians are the best.
Beautyful music beautyful harmony beautyful songs
That tenor singer is Brian Free of Brian Free and Assurance. I'd recommend giving them a listen. And check out the old video for Robe Of White with Brian on the lead.
Brian Free is a legend!! Always have loved his singing.
Not the only legend to have been a part of Gold City. For a quarter to be successful you need the best of the best to fill the most important part, which of course as you know Gary - the bass singer.
Praying for Tim Riley’s full recovery from his recent strokes.
With a quality bass singer , let’s face it. The other vocalist are quite dispensable.
Imperative to have one of the worlds finest keyboardist. Maybe one with a name that rhymes with the other Commenting Gary’s name. Doesn’t even have to be American. Times have changed and I’m trying to remember how to spell PC but I’m thinking of a piano player who is celebrated around many Americans dinner tables every Tuesday.
That piano player with the name that rhymes with “Gary Jones” is a true legend himself who has never received the level of accolades he so truly deserves. They had a nickname for him though. What was it? 😝

I absolutely love this Group I have loved them since the first time I heard them back in the early 1980s they are one of my absolute favorites aside from The Kingsmen
Luv you brian free , you are the best!!!❤❤
BRIAN FREE...WHAT A VOICE...BLESSINGS TO YOU, GOLD CITY MINISTERY!!!!
Alexis Godoy Do you know who the rest of the group was back then from left to right?
Brian Free, Jerry Ritchie, Ken Trussell, Tim Riley
@@zzyzx1947 Not Ken
First time I seen Gold City was in Northeast Texas slightly after this when the lead and baritone were replaced with Ivan Parker and Mike Lefevere. Eith mike or Mark I’m sure was his first name and I may have spelt his last name wrong but it sounds right in my head.
@@kensingtonssI can't be absolutely sure...but I think that the Lead Singer shown here, was Bill Crittenden. Sometime after this video was made, he was replaced by Ivan Parker, who had previously been singing Lead for The Singing Americans.
You just can’t beat gospel music
Gospel music nothing could be compared to
Brings back some great memories. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely groop ,lovely song god bless u guys
Just weeks before Ivan Parker would leave The Singing Americans to join the group ... the rest is history.
Brian Free, and Ivan Parker...what a crazy, fun-loving couple of guys! Those two got into more trouble, fun-wise, than you can shake the proverbial stick at!
Thank you so much for prayers he passed away a few weeks ago
Estaba muy joven Brian. Tremendo 1 tenor!!
The sound is different from what I used to hear when watching this weeks ago
What a great lineup!
THANK YOU ❤
I first heard this song from Jimmy Swaggart "What a lovely name "
“What A Lovely Name” was made famous by the Happy Goodman Family.
Brian Free looks like he's about 15 here! :D
He was, I'm guessing, 18 or 19 years old here.

Doesn't look like Brian was even shaving when this was made.
is the Brian Free the tenor ?? I love Brian 😁😁😁
HALLELUJAH!!!👑😄🎶🌟✨💖💕
Who is in between Brian Free and Tim Riley those two sound incredible my favourite Tenor And Bass ♥️❤️
That'd be Bill Crittendon at Lead, standing to Brian's left. To Bill's left is Jerry Ritchie singing Baritone.
Mike who?
This is before I discovered Southern Gospel, by about 5 years I never saw this Gold City lineup, I thought Ivan and Mike Lefever were original members, thanks for the piece of history and great singing
@@adventurelover76Oops! My bad. I'll go back, and correct that.
I promise!
Ivan Parker and Mike LeFevre look so different!😅
Thais ia reliquia
Anyone know the name of the baritone and lead singer ?
Was Landy Ewing playing bass on this? Whoever he was, he was great.
Phillip Pasteur Ken Bennett
Thanks for posting this. Who sang the lead and baritone parts?
Clyde Radel That is jerry Ritchie next to Tim. Not sure if that is Ken Trussell next to Brian or not
Brian Free, Jerry Ritchie, Ken Trussell, Tim Riley
@@zzyzx1947 Actually, that's not Ken Trussels standing in between Brian Free and Jerry Ritchie. Ken had departed the group by this time. The guy singing between Brian and Jerry is a gentleman named Bill Crittendon. He sang Lead vocals on this, but was replaced by Ivan Parker in 1983.
@@MemphisMike901No. That was a Lead Singer named Bill Crittenden. He was later replaced by Ivan Parker, later that year (1983).
@@ronaldshank7589ahh. So how long did Ken Trussell actually sing with them? And was jerry replaced by Mike Lefevere?
He passed away at age 45
Who passed away?!?
What are their names?
Tenor- Brian Free
Lead- Jerry Ritchie
Baritone- Ken Trussell
Bass- Tim Riley
From Left to Right
He sounds like Ernie Hasee and Danny Funderburk in the Cathedrals group
@@landonkodman6327 Jerry is 3rd from the left. My aunt was married to him later in life
Jerry Ritchie was the baritone. Not sure of the Lead
looks like Mike English
It was a gentleman named Bill Crittendon. This was recorded in 1983, earlier in that year. Later on, in 1983, Mike was replaced by Ivan Parker.
It’s funny that the band is wearing red velvet color pants and the singers

I love this group but the sound engineer must have been tone deaf. That bass guitar is
blowing my ears off
