As always a great instructional video! But question... are they biting now? I always though that good wahoo season was from September to January? Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Wintertime in the Bahamas is hot, however we catch wahoo along the Southeast coast year round. I caught a couple last week trolling planers, and the week before boats had as many as ten. Right before or after full moon is ideal, especially with outgoing tide. - Capt Mike
Hi Capt. Mike, thank you for all of the videos and the education that you and the crew provide. What type and weight are you using for your shock chord? When setting the lines, you talk about how many seconds you let the lines out. At what speed are you going when you let the lines out? Thank you so much.
We fish 24 oz and 48 oz trolling leads. The heavier one is closer to the boat and deeper, and lighter one further away and higher in water column. The idea with counting is just to be sure you're lines are staggered properly. We usually let them out while increasing speed to 15-16 knots. - Capt Mike
Florida Sport Fishing right now I have Raymarine. I mostly do most of my fishing from 70-200, targeting bottom species in that depth. Along with drifting along the ledge with live baits. I would like to expand on my fishing in deep dropping though.
Im a huge Furuno fan and recommend Furuno, if you decide to go that route call me and we'll discuss exact units, though if you are currently using Raymarine and familiar with the use of their product line and how to interpret returns, you may want to stick w/Raymarine. - Capt Mike
Florida Sport Fishing appreciate the advice. You also helped me with the line to fill on my sinning reels. You mentioned adding topshot to some. How much topshot do you recommend putting on them?
Is it a good day to go fishing when waves are 3-4 ft tall when trolling or fishing in general
Yes. Often when its choppy the bite is hot! - Capt Mike
Beautiful fish!...congrats!
Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike
Dig those board shorts capt.

Hey mike i am going to get new electronics on my boat. I know you are a furuno guy.
What would you rank others such as garmin, Simrad, Ray marine?
All three are excellent options. What are you using now? What depth/species/venues will you most ly be doing? - Capt Mike

Florida Sport Fishing I do most of my fishing in Jupiter, and twice a year in the Florida keys
