If Fallout got some representation in Smash, then Vault Boy is *THE* quintessential rep. He'll fit in with the more cartoony characters like Mario and Sonic. He can easily use laser and plasma weapons, as well as rockets and bombs in his moveset. Might make him seem similar to Samus and Mega Man, but designing his moveset properties can be made to feel more distinct.
In the next game they should have a perk that gives a great beneficial effect, but has a side effect where occasionally you hallucinate Vault Boy and shenannigans ensue. Like, boom, turn the corner and hes chillin on a bench with a bunch of raiders, or you stumble through the swamp and find him getting eaten by a Mirelurk Queen.
I was at the DC Daily Studio for a contest, and they had a Vault Boy statue in the conference room we used as a green room (DC Daily used to be Machinima before it was bought by Time Warner).
Made me think how many NPC's out there are symbols of their games, one I can think of is guide from Terraria, although not nearly as much of a symbol as vault boy
I love channels that take seriously the art inside the videogames. I'm lately not interested in gameplays, but the art and finding this channel was amusing

I always used to think that vault boy was actually called pip boy. So I thought that both the personal computer and the mascot were called “pip-boy”.
Well actually the RobCo mascot on the pip-boy 2000 is actually called pip-boy (or alternatively vault boy 2000) so you’re not entirely wrong.

Obsidian created that moon-faced mascot for Outer World, and I think that works relatively well just like Vault Boy.
