      This Europe-only Explorer EV is unrelated to the bloated American Explorer, it's based off Volkswagen's MEB platform. Its length is 4,460 mm (175.6 in) vs. 5,050 mm (198.8 in), USA is almost 2 feet longer.
      And the Ford Expedition is even bigger! Europe hasn't gone full-on "I'll kill anyone who gets in the way of my 3-ton tank while I get a few bags of groceries" like the USA, though they're heading that way with more and bigger three-row SUVs.

    Massive improvement over the fiesta/focus. We need this in the states.

    • @garydavis1528
      @garydavis1528 Рік тому

      That is such a stupid thing to say, they aren’t comparable size and audience vehicles. Without the Fiesta and Focus (and Mondeo gone) Ford has no cars it can sell or of any interest across Europe so they can’t get smaller EV’s out quick enough to replace Fiesta Focus if they are to survive in Europe at all. And most people simply don’t want an EV especially at extortionate charges.

    • @themidnighttavern6784
      @themidnighttavern6784 Рік тому

      @@garydavis1528 It's a sustainable vehicle that Ford can make a decent profit on that looks better than the old focus, and especially the fiesta, has more features and utility, is more environmentally friendly, will almost certainly require fewer repairs, and with a very low center of gravity, and RWD, should drive just as well, if not better than non-performance versions of those cars.
      Sure, it's more expensive, but you seem to think I'm saying this replaces the focus/fiesta in terms of price. I'm not saying that in the slightest. It replaces them in terms of plant capacity.
      Brands tried making super affordable cars, and sure, you'll sell more of them. But if it's not profitable, selling more of them is actually a bad thing. The more you sell, the more money you lose.

    • @themidnighttavern6784
      @themidnighttavern6784 Рік тому

    Why did you give the Explorer name to a vehicle smaller than an Escape/Kuga? Do you have to shrink all vehicles during electrification? You are doing the same mistake you have done with the Mustang Mach-E. Every person I showed it tells me the same thing: 'It is not a Mustang!'. It is a good car but definitely not a Mustang. If they are seriously targeting just a female audience at least give it a ride height that matches the previous generation for anticipating whats ahead and crash survivability. Last thing you wanna be is squished with an explosive lithium battery between two bigger vehicles at a red light by someone who fails to hit the brakes. Ford needs to introduce an everest that the aussies have been enjoying but as a hybrid and those will sell like crazy globally. 45k for a Ford I’ve owned only Fords all bar 2 cars and if I had 45k to spend on a car it damn sure wouldn’t be a Ford electric suv especially when the f150 lightning is a massive joke because of its battery issues and I have seen some customers of Mach-Es are not happy because of battery issues. Now if I understand correctly it is on a VAG platform so it might not be terrible because of it German parts but it begs the question why pay 45k for a Ford suv when you can get a VAG car that uses the same platform in a hatchback saloon or estate and will likely have a better level of build quality. You know Fords accounts will get involved and save money on things and ruin it anyway

      So far other than the Id Buzz I’m not impress at all with the VAG EVs and think this explorer not only looks better externally with its Land Rover looks but internally as well with an infortainmemt system that looks like it actually works. As for the price, all EVs are expensive and when I recently looked at an ID 3 that was nearly £40k for something that is nothing more than a very cheap looking golf then I personally think the explorer is very reasonably priced in todays EV market.

      Not terrible because it will have German parts - European Fords are designed at Merkenich Cologne, most are built in Cologne or Saarlouis in the Rhineland. Those assembled in Spain or Romania use parts sourced from Germany. European Fords are already German!

      @@rickerbyct 😂 I am aware that Fords have been designed and built I. Germany for years I’ve owned mk1/2/3 Mondeo mk5/6 Escort and mk2/3 Focus and it was a observation that because parts are coming from the vag group it might not suck and be awful like the F150 lightning with its battery issues even some Mach E have had issues. More importantly Ford are allegedly not going to be building any hatchback saloon or estate cars in the future in favour of suv and crossover and I don’t need or want that so I will likely move to a Skoda next or something from the Vag group
