  • Daryle Lamont Jenkins is not only our old friend from our early days in New Brunswick but also an activist working on the front lines of fighting racism and fascism. We thought now was a good time to catch up with Daryle. We encourage everyone to get a glimpse into Daryle’s activism by watching the documentary on Netflix: Alt Right- The Age of Rage and the feature film based on him, Skin. In this video we reminisce a bit with Daryle about our very early days and find out more details about his activism at the One People's Project. www.onepeoplesproject.com

I'm loving watching this..a lot of times I don't remember things until someone else with a better memory sets it straight, and then it all comes back and it makes me smile..

I grew up in Highland Park and skated. A lot of times, my skating nights would end up at 174 Commercial Ave. Love those days. Love all of it.

That was a great lesson in the NJ / NY scene / the Bouncing Souls always had great lineups ! I agree our country is in a mess even before this (also the world) The only negative I would say no matter what Covid 19 is even more pressing !

Love the Bouncing Souls, love my friend Daryle Lamont Jenkins, but I gotta say that increasing police salary isn't the way to go. The point of defunding is to be proactive, not reactive. Poverty is the leading indicator of crime. Invest in housing, health care, food security, employment, education. Remove those stresses from people's lives and there won't be as much need for police. And to be brutality honest, we'll never address all those issues under capitalism because poverty, homelessness, and the threat of incarceration, is how capitalism motivates workers to sell their labor and lives for less than they're worth.
