It's not only a desperation thing. Sometimes there are points about the job that are extremely sketchy that were not outlined in the description at the agency or on the advertising website ala Indeed/LinkedIn. Things like being paid into crypto currency or something similarly sketchy.
I was hired after a 10 minute interview. Not only did they hire me on the spot but they processed my paperwork in 15 minutes. I went for the drug test 20 minutes later and started working the very next day. I was suspicious as HELL, but figured I'd work for a few weeks, get a couple of paychecks, then quit. Guess what happened? Eight months later and I'm still there and I love it. Best job I've ever had.
Same for the last 2 jobs I've had. Hired on the Spot. Last one I stayed at 10 years, this one it's been a couple of years. He has a point, however I know all these jobs are the same, pros and cons. Don't walk away if you need money. Take the job, you can always quit when something better comes along.
You don't know what kind of job he is talking about and it's also not said here if that is actually a permanent job. There are so many open questions here. So that's not even a red flag because he hasn't told you the whole story.
I had a 5 minute interview 4 years ago for a customer service job. Hired immediately, started 1 week later. 5 promotions later, I now run my own team of research analysts. I LOVE the company I work for. it's not always a bad thing when you are hired quickly.
What company do you work for and how does one become a research analyst? Researching and studying information is a passion of mine and I'd love to make a career out of it.
my third job, one i’m at now, hired me pretty much on the spot. they’ve treated me with so much respect and given me enough shifts to properly live. they also looked after me when my dad passed and helped me out in every way possible. sometimes a good job is just a good job
My 1st job out of college I ended up in a room with 4 departments. The interview was more of an argument on who got me. Sometimes a business is just growing fast and have so much work to fill that they are not picky. It's only the stagnate businesses that you have to watch out for fast hires from.
Funny story - I sent my resume to a local company (I'm an electrical technician), and the owner called me and was just like, 'bring your tools you could start tomorrow' and I did. That company owner taught me more about the right way to do things than anyone else I ever run into. We're still friends, 26 years later. We're getting ready for this years holiday party next week. Life is a trip. Ya never know. Trust your instincts, but don't be afraid to take chances. Sometimes things work out, and when it comes to companies...well, they might look good on paper but treat their employees like shit. Or they might be kind of a mess and fly by the seat of their pants on a daily basis, but they care for the people that earn them their money. Ya never know.
@@gradoisx2348 It's kinda like the difference between a mechanic and an automotive technician. Two very different things, if you are in the field. Ya know, actually working in that field, and not just disparaging people on UA-cam.
Interviews just suck and rarely can you actually get anything from them. Most of the time neither of you know about each other until you actually start working there. Very few jobs legitimately need an interview, some only need proof of skill and ability. Unless you there to negotiate something it's just a waste of time
I serendipitously met a friend in the lobby of one of these places who was also on unemployment. They used a fake name in the ad. My friend just quietly said, "We do NOT want to, we CANNOT work here." We physically fought with each other, shoulder checked each other by walking through doorways at the same time, shoved each other into walls, called each other names, threatened to murder each other, swore, openly interferred with and cheated on each other's typing tests including physically pulling each other scross the room and removing chairs. We also tried to fail the typing tests. I used random mixed case and inserted numbers for vowels like passwords and passed it! They just typed only vowels and spaces so slowly (because they chanted something like their high school pledge song inbetween fingerstrikes) that they only entered 1-3 taps before the end and they actually failed. They still offered to hire both of us - on the spot and gave us each private 2nd interviews. Without asking permission, and while doing a decent Pinky Pie impression, I unwrapped the decorative presents their decorative X-mas tree because I *thought* they were all gifts for me. I was extremely disappointed they were empty and then rewrapped random office items inside the empty boxes (again without asking and just grabbing things, including tape, off desks) while making zero eye contact and mumbling, through my second interview. My friend violently shook the interview table durring his entire private interview. They should really have called the police on us! I demanded a six figure salary but they couldn't meet it. It was for a call center. I just told unemployment they couldn't meet my base salary requirements. I think my friend told them they had a bunch of contradictory, serious medical issues (while shaking a conference table) and demanded a year of PTO upfront first before starting training and told unemployment they were unable to make accommodations for them. The interviewer left the room and checked with supervisor to determine they couldn't meet each of our bizarre employment demands. My friend was someone I knew from large get-togethers - like 40 to 60 or more people. I never had their phone number. Turned out we both played "Chaotic Good" characters in D&D but never in the same campaigns. We just both naturally just turned up the chaos with each other. I have no idea how I kept a straight face durring that entire thing but we would have definately had the cops called on us if we acted that way at Wal-mart or the ER or just on a public sidewalk even as nicely dressed customers. It worries me to this day that they offerred both of us jobs. We both found decent jobs in the next few weeks.
Yep. I always say I can start immediately and have open availability because I’m usually so desperate for a job and I want to be hired as much as possible lol. Once I’ve been there for awhile I tell them I can’t work on weekends because I “go out of town to see family, sorry” and they usually comply. It’s funny being hired for my flexibility and then slowly having like no flexibility available
@@scarakatorza That happens. A job agency is making money for far less work just arranging the meeting of employer and employee. After that they have an automatic cut of your wages (unless you get upgraded to a company staff job) for very little effort beyond managing your taxes etc. So it's in their best interest to bend over backwards and hook you up with the employer ASAP. Because if you aren't making money, they aren't either.
I applied to a job online, was called an hour later and asked to come in for a 3PM interview that same day. My job interview was hellish. Even though I was super qualified for it, I was basically stripped of all confidence and dignity by the end of it, each question was basically posed as a “trap” of “this will prove to yourself you don’t have what it takes for this job.” I was interviewed by two managers back to back and the second manager was the scariest and most intense person I’ve ever met. Not to mention the way she handled telling me my hourly rate was lowkey boarder line illegal. So, after all this, and sitting through an interview that was set up to convince me why I didn’t want the job nor could I handle it (and a job interview I wanted to run out of by the halfway mark), THEY OFFERED THE JOB ON THE SPOT AS I SAT THERE. I had been so excited for the job before I walked into the building. It shocked me how much I immediately knew I didn’t want it. If I’m gonna feel this unwelcome during a job interview, I have no interest in being part of your staff. Edit five months later: forgot to describe how she told me my hourly, she wrote it on the corner of her clipboard’s paper, ripped it off, folded it, handed it to me, and TOLD ME TO DESTROY IT. This was David’s Bridal in Burbank
Had this SAME exact experience and I tuned out of the interview after a while because I was so uncomfortable. I didn’t get the job obviously (and celebrated LOL), but the person who did get the job was eventually fired automatically because she was caught stealing from them 🙃 She didn’t even have that job for 6 months. I thought it was funny aaaand the office no longer exists.
Lol same!! I interviewed at 10am, was called back at 11am to come in at 1pm to get drug test and background. Got the job by 3pm and it was a love hate relationship for almost 7 years.
Well, to be fair you can't get an interview at Walmart unless you pass the quiz to submit your application. They won't even let you apply unless you prove you know the basics of the job and customer service. Actually not a bad way to weed out the candidates who wouldn't be a good match... but Walmart is always hiring because they, or at least the one I worked at, threat their people as expendable. And some managers expect you to put the company above your family and your religion. "Working on Sunday is against my religion" should be the end of the conversation.
No cuz why did I go to my interview and the guy walked me around the store explaining what the job was. He asked me 3 questions and said I'd be a good fit 😂😂 Luckily- it's temporary
My 16 year old brother was hired on the spot because no one applies at walgreens, only old people and they needed a young male so bad. I have never seen the shelves so stocked and the store so full before. For his first job, I’m so proud!
just don't let them abuse the fact he is 16, theres been alot of problems with stores doing that lately. just make sure he knows when to much work is to much. otherwise have as much fun as possible stocking its a hella lot easier than registers.
@@Suno-ta-sei oh okay, he’s having trouble with working times, he currently can only work 28 hours and some overtime if he wants. He’s trained for everything cause no one does anything specific. But he says registers suck too. He likes working there, just trying to work too much. Thanks for the advice!
@@natk4017 well my mom spoke to the manager directly about having a job for my brother and I, I don’t work cause of college and school. His classes are easier than mine. But my mom gets a feel of them. And the manager stopped us while we were shopping to meet the rest of our family and say how much she enjoys my brother. So I hope that means they like him and treat him well. My brother talked about working at another store and the manager looked offended. They love to have him there!
My favorite is; "We're looking to make a decision by Friday. We will definitely give you a call by Monday to let you know either way whether you got the job" and then you never hear from them again.
I had a place call me an hour before the interview to cancel it because the position had been filled already. I was walking out of my class to leave early to get there and got that call. :[
Happened to me once. Their air conditioning was broken the entire year. No heat in the winter. No air in the summer. And the coworkers were so nosey. I was being asked constantly about my diet. They kept trying to make me eat more. I told them several times I am eating as my nutritionist told me and tracking my food accordingly but they kept insisting I eat sweets almost daily. I eventually left for my own health.

I took 2 jobs where I was hired almost immediately. The 1st one was Cracker Barrel. I had an interview and halfway through she stopped asking questions and said "you know what, your resume is great. You're more than qualified and you seem like you have a good work ethic. I'm gonna go ahead and hire you." And I thoroughly enjoyed working there. My 2nd job was I had applied to be a nanny. I met with the mom of one of the families at Starbucks and we had a casual interview. She told me she'd call me by the end of the week because she had 2 more interviews lined up later in the week. She called me about 3 hours later saying she really liked me and wanted to hire me. I ended up working for her for over 2 years. She and her family became like a second family to me and even now that I'm married and have kids of my own, they are still such a special people to me. But I definitely followed my gut when I made the decisions to take those jobs. If you get a bad feeling, listen to your intuition.
You need money before you can search for an ideal job. Emergency funds are crucial. 6 months to a year of absolute necessities. No leisure, until you find the ideal job. If you don't like that or need a job faster than that, then you'll have to take the quick hiring jobs just to get by.
@@RyotaKen-n3qI hate almost all entry level jobs, but now I deliver food with ubereats. If you need money fast and have a car, delivery apps will definitely help
I love when they say I have a few more interviews lined up this week and we will make a decision then they call you same day. I'm like y'all already lying
I think it depends the thing you really need to watch out for is when they say “we’re like family working here” that just means they finna use you and abuse your work ethic till you snap😅😂
True that, I have a story. My bf got hired by a husband/wife owned bakery. Used that tagline, and yet they really treated their employees poorly from what I saw. All minimum wage (even though it’s extremely expensive “high end” bakery and the owners live in a giant fancy house) and one employee was told she was NOT allowed to take off to attend a family funeral, they make everyone work on family holidays like thanksgiving and Christmas 7 days a week, my bf who only applied and was hired to be a dishwasher - they made him do their plumbing (instead of hiring an actual plumber) and helping them create the complicated bakery items (while obviously not trained or compensated for it). No employee discount, insurance or any other benefits lol
started plumbing almost a year ago and at the end of my interview, he said “when would you be able to start? tomorrow would be best.” needless to say, i started the day after then interview and have absolutely loved it since. needed the job and i just stuck with it. i’ve learned so much in such little time and am already working on my plumbing license
He isn't talking about a trades job. You'll notice everyone's "whataboutisms" are the trades because you are dying for people. (Hint: Trades needs women and immigrants, and to actually pay them well but we're still ten years from that). Working in restaurants and retail of all types, I can tell you that immediate hiring is not a good sign. Almost never is there a time when it is a good sign.
@@Polareon thats the point, trade job people are saying that this could be a good thing- but if a place like lets say tjmax hires you on the spot you best not fucking take that job unless your about to go broke cus they are gonna fuck ur mental to high heaven.
@@cathedral1375 thats fair i was just noting the point where it said women and immigrants need to be hired for trades but a trade job will literally hire anyone willing to work. But i do agree if a Walmart hires you on the spot its probably not a good idea
Okay I was literally hired on the spot during my interview. I walked out jumping with joy, so excited and optimistic. Its been a month. I want to quit. I cry almost every shift. I want to leave so bad.
Yeah I don't agree with this man's statement, I also hit my job within 3 hours of doing my interview, it was just a regular retail job at the time but it was a nice place to work at, with decent benefits.
Listen to this man. I’ve had two instances where I was hired on the spot where I didn’t have time to finish filling out the application. I was gone from those places within 2-7 months. Listen to this man. He speaks with wisdom beyond his years.
That moment when I realized that in all of my past jobs I was hired in the spot, but I ended up leaving everytime knowing exactly why people leave these places. They made me feel special by the way they spoke about my skills compared to others so they wanted me to start immediately everytime. That comparison is also a huge red flag because they literally compared me to people who worked for them for years when they just met me...
oh my god... now i realise how my last manager did the exact same thing. kept saying i worked quicker and learned better than everyone else. i realise now they just wanted me to work even harder to meet the standards and expectations they'd set by 'complimenting' my work like that. they ended up suddenly taking me off the rota without warning, a month before i was going to move out and needed to save up for uni. after promising me full time work for that whole month. they also paid me £4.80/hr. only the 2nd worst job i've had
My first job was like that. I thought I was coming into an interview and an hour in I was like "damn why are they showing me how to do everything already? This interview is thorough as hell."
Exactly ,you apply for jobs ,never hear anything , or you have a good interview and have a positive feeling about getting the position and they say they we will get back too me and I never heard from them again.
@Jcat24 that happened with a new bakery opening in town I got the interview she said she would get in touch ...never happened here I am still looking for a job.....😢
i feel relieved im not the only one, i recently applied for a grocery store being a merchandiser and its been 2 (almost 3) months since the interview. Ima keep applying for other places i want to work at
debatable because i was hired on the spot after an interview and that job ended up being such a rarity with genuinely good people & a strong team. it’s one of my most beloved experiences, i miss it & i never thought i’d say that about a job. everything is situational.
I would like to share that there was a time in my life where I was completely broken. I didn't know where to turn. I tried crying out to family members and friends, that did not work. I finally cried out to Jesus, and he heard my cry. When the bible says God is near to the brokenhearted it is very true. I cried out to God in tears, and He eventually turned my sorrow to joy. I thank God for the gift of salvation that He gave me. Now I have a wife and 3 kids that God has blessed me with. Please stick in there and give God a chance to transform your life. Cry out to God no matter how broken you are.
Same, I think he’s right 90% but my current job hired only an hour later. They really needed people since they had more orders than the last decade or so and many were staffed were getting to retirement age.
Loool! I spoke the main man of the place and he simply said: ‘ you willing to work nights?’ I said: ‘yeah!’ And he said: ‘see you on Monday!’ Now I’m planning my escape and looking for another job 😂
I would say that if you are willing to work nights then it is likely the reason why they hired you on the spot. So if you are not prepared to have only night shifts, then look for another job. If however, you don't mind. Go ahead. Negotiate for a higher salary, they probably need you and might be willing to pay more. You would be surprised how few people are willing to work night.
it’s depends on a person if they willing to do so , for me i’m ashamed for myself, seeing immigrants workers from poor country work very hard and got a well pay no matter what kind of work as long they got pay it’s worth for them.
An underrated fact... This guy is a master in this his style of videography. I don't think anyone can beat him in it. The way he moves the camera fluidy, focuses on objects of his choice, zoom seamlessly, etc... Masterpiece ❤.
I'm a manager, had a kid who worked for me, really nice guy and he enjoyed the job. One day before his shift he texts me saying he won't be returning, he had to take care of his grandma, and mentioned that I was one of the best bosses he's ever had. But that was the worst timing, because the holidays were upon us. So, I had to hire asap the 1st person I liked. So, hiring on the spot isn't inherently a red flag. Edit: Before any more of y'all pull a muscle from doing all this reaching trying to find SOME kind of red flag. I was VERY transparent during the interview. They applied knowing the holidays were coming up, and they agreed to work holidays if necessary. We even conducted a working interview so they can see what the job entails on a daily basis. I sent an offer letter a day after our initial meeting, and now they're thriving! A position for our social media ambassador opened up, which they applied, got the position and even got a raise! Y'all are gonna miss out on a lot of great opportunities trying look for these "red flags". 🙄🙄🙄
Same here! We had two people leave for better job opportunities, leaving us with about 6 people who could run the store, but then a month later three leave at the same time all for better paying jobs except for one who was going to school still and had to focus on studies. My boss immediately had me interviewing people and hiring who I thought would fit on the spot because we were approaching holiday season and we were severely short staffed Lol
I’m a supervisor for a company that provides medical & housing aide to our disabled & homeless population. Keeping a full staff, that is flexible regarding task. Is difficult when so many ppl think they’re better than my clients, so at times I must do phone interviews and hire quickly. But majority of my staff have been with me for yrs🤷🏽♀️
Bro if he doesn't think about returning, if only for telling you he's quitting, you might have been one of the best bosses, but definetly not the best. Therefore yes, that is indeed a red flag.
So freaking true!!!! They always say we're family when Making you do extra work and helping out more making them look good without giving you compensation or credit but all business when enforcing rules or unreasonable deadlines.
Similar situation back in '06. They offered me the job during the 1st interview. No walk through, no meeting my direct supervisor. I'm pretty sure I was qualified for it since I've been in the same field since '87. It was just off putting to be offered a job in the 1st interview. It was a bit of a drive from my house so, I told them I wanted to think about it. They even offered to put me up in a motel during the work week to save on travel time. I passed. It was probably a good job but the sense of urgency gave me pause.
I was straight out of college when I went on a job interview. I knew the boss was desperate, with her only other employee going on maternity leave just 2 days later. During the interview she actually started giving me work to do. I ended up staying there for 2 hours. I didn't know this was a big red flag, since I'd never had a job before. It ended up being the worst 3 years of my life. The boss was belittling, demeaning, and just an overall bully. What made it worse was that I was the only employee, so she focused on me 9 to 5. And because I was shy and had no self esteem, I suffered in silence for the 3 years, before finally she had to shut the business down due to low sales. Unfortunately the damage was already done, physically and mentally. I was scared to get another job, knowing the trauma and abuse could happen again. I developed permanent heart and digestion problems. I ended up on disability, which honestly was a big relief, knowing I'd never have to work again. That's right, I'm actually happy I have medical problems, just so I never have to work again. That's how bad this job was. If I could go back and tell myself not to take that job, I would have. But I was desperate too, getting rejected from so many places, feeling worthless, so I jumped at the chance to be normal and tell people I finally got a job. Hopefully my story can be a warning to others. It may end up being a great job, but just be careful. Don't be dumb like me and get out if you have to. Your wellbeing is worth more than becoming someone's punching bag.
My first job outside of babysitting was working at a daycare. I have extra PTSD because of it, and it's because of the owner. I'm trying to get disability for various reasons. But I worked at that job for over two years, I believe. Horrible.
“What’s your staff turn out?” “What are the expectations you have of me for this role?” “Will I be required to undergo activities that require personal vehicle use?” “What is the work/life balance like?” - this is why it’s important to ask questions during your interview.
A job interview is not like a normal interview. in a job interview you both want to know each other, he wants to know you and you want to know what job are you gonna do there. So yes, you definitely have to “interview the interviewer”. Also people asking for information are well seen because they look genuinely interested at the job. So don t just go there, answer what they ask and then just leave.
It’s okay to ask questions but just be mindful it’s like if I were to answer them. I don’t need to say something verbatim, just enough for things to slide easy. Usually this is enough to convince a percentage to work. Those that were too smart, like yourself for asking questions, don’t matter.
I had this happen, hardly said anything, I said I didn't know much about the position and I got the job on the spot. It sounded too good to be true.. I had resigned from the job I had for 10 years for this position... day 2 I was like I have made a terrible mistake, no-one knows what we are meant to be doing, theyre acting busy while doing absolutley nothing and hating their jobs, acting hostile and saying I wasn't working hard enough while simultaneously not doing anything!!.. for perspective I showed someone how to stack a shelf and the feedback was " oh! You do know what you're doing you're not just a pretty face..." i rang my old boss I told them what was going on and they offered me a new position. I went back no questions asked. It may have been chaotic at my old job but fuck I knew what was needed to be done and they have been nothing but supportive no matter how chaotic it is. Sometimes the grass is not greener.
I was hired on the spot once. It was on of the best jobs a teenager could ask for. My manager was extremely kind and understanding, they always made accommodation for me if I needed a quick change in schedule. In return, I offered the best I could. Then I had to leave and I asked if it was possible to come back after everything I’m dealing with is over. They said yes and I’ll be returning to the store in early January
Don't listen to the assholes in the comment section. If you're kind, caring and put effort into what you do than most companies would go out of their way to assist.
Yeah because you’re a teenager and it’s probably a low paying shit job (no offense). Even if you worked the same job but were 10yrs older, it won’t be like that lol
For me, always trust your gut feeling. Ive had multiple jobs that look so professional on the outside and hiring process but the work was so shit. My current job, I literally just handed my CV and got the job at the same day. 2 years now and Im still happy with my current work
you ever apply for a job, get an interview, do good in the interview then start second guessing if you really want the job or not and get nervous that they might actually hire you 💀
I didn't even get an interview for my job. All I did was apply and right after that got a call saying that I was hired. No orientation or anything. Big mistake because I hate it there.
I got hired the day of my interview while doing my interview, went in for training the next day. The place constantly had new employees, everyone was quitting. My first week there all the employees are like " We're quitting come with us lil dude! " I haven't even gotten my first paychecks-
UPS is the same way. But I actually liked working for ups though. Loading the trucks and unloading the trucks is fast paste. They described it as a paid workout. UPS is actually the best job to have if you're looking to lose weight and have a part time job.
Highkey though. When i interviewed with Chipotle. They hired me on the spot. And it was pretty awesome. I loved working with everyone, management was great. And i didnt feel over worked or feel rushed to fill an empty spot.
My first job was at a grocery store near me. They asked me your average minimum wage questions and hired me basically immediately. It didn't take me long to realize why every department was full besides the one I signed up for...
I got hired like that in my last one, my big boss ran out after me to tell me they don’t need to wait couple of days. If it wasn’t for family issues, I’d still be there. Absolutely loved the people
Yeah not sure why he's so adamant on this being a red flag. Many places just need workers ASAP and especially minimum wage type work are not looking for skilled workers, so why would they not hire you.
Great advice. I interviewed and told the manager interviewing me that I had one other interview and would make a decision after that interview. She said.. "No". In aww.. I asked; why? She said "Either I take the position now or not bother." Come to find out they insist that overtime accumulated on Saturdays does not count as "overtime pay". 96 hours, one employee worked... was not paid overtime. That's just one of the many reasons not to work there. I left quickly. Lesson learned.
I thought I almost had a situation like that but apparently the reason everyone left was because most of them got fired for stealing stuff from the store
In my country minors can only take summer jobs, but I couldn't do that, so I got my first job at 21 because of uni and then corona. It is a small family owned bakery(they had a small stand on the market before it) that opened a week after. The last thing my boss asked on the phone was if I really wanted to work. They were on a time crunch and the last girl they employed on the stand was an awful employee
I got hired on the spot and I FREAKING LOVE MY JOB. They created this position so no one has ever had it but me. Hiring in the spot does not mean a bad thing.
Glad that you were lucky enough to find a job that you love. However, your experience may not reflect the experience of others. Majority of the time, hiring on the spot means that the job is looking to quickly replace others that have left. Sometimes that can be a good thing (like in your case) but sometimes it's not and can be a sign of poor management.
People confusing when you're hired on the spot (I got a nice job like that), it's different when they do this drama "we'll call you later" and calls you on the same day.
I got called on the same day~ they literally called my references once the interview was over and within the hour called me to give me the job. Its one of the best jobs I’ve ever had and its been a real blessing to work there 🥰💕 they’re even giving me more training so i can work internationally~ its a serious blessing! So it really does vary.
Yassss. Dropped off my job application to my boss and he instantly did an interview and hired me. 2 hours later has me come in and start first day. After 5 minutes with him showing me around and what the cleaning requirements were, he gave me the key and left me alone the rest the night. Almost everyone has left here now. bout to do the same!
Same at my job! Only worked for a month but ZERO training. Showed me how to do one transaction on their registers and left me alone for the rest of the day/days/month. I like the leniency but it’s completely disorganized. Didn’t realize this was a thing

Sounds like the type of company to always need someone to pick something up or cover for other sites (but it wasn’t in the job description), thus needing a car
Ironically, it is ILLEGAL in the United States for an employer to ask if you have a car during the hiring process unless driving is an essential job duty. They may, however, ask you if you have reliable transportation.
Yeah, same. But I could read the signs though. They had reasons for the quick hire. They explained that HR had refused to give them the assistance my supervisor needed for her job and she was severely overworked for a couple years. They finally got the green light to hire someone "temporarily". So they really just needed someone that could fit in and was trainable. 4.5 years later, I'm still there! Great company.
Yeah same. After the interview, I was taking a shuttle to the airport to fly back home and the entire interview team came out to tell me I got the job. It was a great experience. I can see how offering a job immediately maybe a red flag, but it’s not always the case with certain companies.
I agree. It definitely depends on the situation & the “read”. To me, one red flag doesn’t mean it’s an automatic “no”. It has served me to know which RFs to spot & where it stacks up to my boundaries (like any relationship). This video does a nice job showcasing one folks might not consider. :)
It kinda depends on the kind of job. Very niche with known shortages of experienced people in the field, if you got the right credentials the job could be offered at the end of the interview. If the job has lots of people with the right skills available, either your interview is stellar, you are renown in the field, or it is suspicious. And sometimes there are exceptional circumstances, like expanding the team to meet a greater workload.
Yeah mine was also a quick hire, just some basic questions about my experience in serving, asking my best and worst and past work experience, then gave me the job. The reason for the quick turn around was cause the store was opening in about month from the interview
I'm a musician and went for an interview to teach voice at a school and me and the head of music vibed so good she hired me before I even left. Been there coming up 3 years and they treat me so good! Harry & David was that one for me my 5k commission check while getting to wfh was lovely but I have never felt so mentally defeated and had such incompetent old styled management that I had to deal with.
Basically this exact thing happened to me for my first job. Applied online, was emailed about an interview and went ahead with that. They essentially asked me if I could drive, and if I could deal with flexible hours. It was a summer job so I was cool with all of it. Got hired on the spot. Showed up for the job and very quickly realized why. The whole thing was basically one giant OSHA violation and I ended quitting after 2 weeks with them.
@@Someone-wo4zj the job required working from heights, they never gave us proper safety equipment even though we were way above the safe limit. We also have essentially zero ladder safety and no proper breaks lol. It was a house painting company.
So true. I'm a graphic designer and jobs are hard to come by, so when I actually got a job interview, I was delighted. I went there, the boss barely let me speak and started quizzing me really weirdly on print production. All whilst trying to teach me how to work there... It was the first time we spoke. Then he asked about my skills which were all listed in my cv. He obviously hadn't read it. He kept me for 1,5 hours and I agreed to come back to try work there for a week. I started there and was really excited... Til I actually started. The place was so dirty and grimy it was unbelievable. The toilet actually scared me and there was no soap. Eventually I found a pack from the 90s... Which says everything. At my desk the calculator and phone were full of finger grease, like, layers. I brought desinfectant cloths the next day but it was hopeless. The whole place was cold and empty, they must have been thriving a while ago but were down to 3 employees plus the boss's Mom. The biggest red flag was when I saw how he treated his print specialist: I walked into the printing room to ask a question about the newspaper I was designing, when I saw the boss yell at the employee and say the nastiest things to him. Things that made me get sick to my stomach. I walked backwards and shut the doors quietly and sat down again. Like a minute later the boss walked in with the angriest face, but dropped it and looked extremely charming in a milisecond and talked to me as if nothing happened. I was like, hell no. I'm not working here. I went into my break and went as far away as possible to eat bc it was so toxic in there and the break room was freezing. I came back and the print specialist comes up to me and yells at me. For listening to music outside off the clock. Yeah, I wasn't going to work in such a toxic environment. I left in the evening and called the next morning and said I'm not coming back.

I’m usually really good at interviewing; I’m honest, personable, and communicate what I expect and what’s expected of me. The last job I had, the manager said the last person didn’t last two weeks, which was weird to me. Until I met the coworker they use to train everyone. I only lasted a bit over a month. The last two months have been hard to get a job. Seems like managers are either desperate, stringing you along and hoping for someone better, or expecting 8 years of experience and don’t want to train someone new. My current job which I love so much I went on an interview didn't hear from them for 2 weeks then another 3 weeks till training started. Good companies know good things take time
That’s not always the case though. I’ve hired people on the spot for new positions because of the lack of applicants & knowledge that I can train a person in a week tops. No one I’ve hired on the spot ever quit unless the job served it’s purpose (part time work during college or an extra gig for holiday expenses). Best thing to do is ask the question “who held this position before me” and the question “why are they no longer in this position” and “how long did it take someone in this position to rise up.”
I was always worried to ask those questions in an interview, any advice when they come with a negative response to those questions? I feel it should be obvious, but I get caught in their net until I realize it's too late.
You have to be observant when you enter the interview. I know it’s a good place if the front desk staff is happy, if they’re rude, burnt out, traumatized or whatever then I know that the place is unhealthy. If you hear other employees cracking jokes laughing and the place is also clean, organized, and everything seems to be working, then I take that as a good place to work on top of my interaction with the supervisor.
Mmm nope, did that mistake, never again, they were told to smile and fake it towards the customer then the whole place was depression and people shouting at each other
I wish I had of known that before working at my last job. Was there six yrs tolerated toxicity. The walk through didn't see to many people the vibe was off but I needed employment. First night working dealt with drama of people sleeping around a hot mess on first night.
Man I had a job interview where they asked me if I had kids. They got hella excited when I said I didn't. I obviously don't know what country you're in, but it's literally illegal to ask that question in an interview in the UK. You definitely dodged a bullet.

Dude same, and this dude was apparently the store director and not some of the HR interviewers

I was once hired as soon as they walked into our interview and I began the shift right after we shook hands... Walmart is a different kind of hell.
Yup this is standard Walmart treatment, I worked there 6 years. If you got the interview then you got the job, they don't call you to come otherwise.
Huh, a blessing in disguise
No cuz why did I go to my interview and the guy walked me around the store explaining what the job was. He asked me 3 questions and said I'd be a good fit 😂😂 Luckily- it's temporary
Dollar tree be like
My 16 year old brother was hired on the spot because no one applies at walgreens, only old people and they needed a young male so bad.
If parents knew how managers speak to their children in 99.999% of entry level jobs they would not allow their children to work.
That makes you proud? What a low standard hahaah
I love the "we'll let you know in a few days, and then you get an email the next 30 minutes, sorry were not taking anyone at this time"
That's the one. Sucks
Nice quoting didn't even stop them to do your little comment 😂
My favorite is;
"We're looking to make a decision by Friday. We will definitely give you a call by Monday to let you know either way whether you got the job" and then you never hear from them again.
Well, at least they give you a quick answer. Some never call back...

@@GovilGirl What a story, Mark

No employee discount, insurance or any other benefits lol

debatable because i was hired on the spot after an interview and that job ended up being such a rarity with genuinely good people & a strong team. it’s one of my most beloved experiences, i miss it & i never thought i’d say that about a job. everything is situational.

Horrible.

I got hired on the spot and I FREAKING LOVE MY JOB. They created this position so no one has ever had it but me. Hiring in the spot does not mean a bad thing.
For you.
literally same. lucky us ig
Oh you got suckered, you need to ask for a raise immediately
@@TheHuskyK9 yeah it's almost like this is all anecdotal and not based on any statistics and therefore meaningless
People confusing when you're hired on the spot (I got a nice job like that), it's different when they do this drama "we'll call you later" and calls you on the same day.
It can very well be on the spot without "drama" and be shitty
Mine did that. And it’s not bad it’s decent ❤
I got called on the same day and I really like my job lol. Sometimes its not always bad.
I got called on the same day~ they literally called my references once the interview was over and within the hour called me to give me the job. Its one of the best jobs I’ve ever had and its been a real blessing to work there 🥰💕 they’re even giving me more training so i can work internationally~ its a serious blessing!
So it really does vary.
the random paper towel pull is sending me 😭😂🤣
The random paper towel tear is killing me for some reason.
Yeah, like why?
Same lmao
Yeah, it was more like a wave of the white flag, than a sign of a red flag 😅😅
Lmao...I’ve been searching for this comment.
Yeah wtf is that shit about
I guess they're looking for self starters. I don't mind being left alone, don't want to be monitored.

@@MaryJane-zw5pv you're right, I wasn't thinking from those points of view.
That company has a history of hiring people who were late to work because they didn't have a car
Or who called out because they couldn't get a ride.
Sounds like the type of company to always need someone to pick something up or cover for other sites (but it wasn’t in the job description), thus needing a car
Or it was one of those places that wants you to do door-to-door sales and needs you to have your own transportation to do so.
Ironically, it is ILLEGAL in the United States for an employer to ask if you have a car during the hiring process unless driving is an essential job duty. They may, however, ask you if you have reliable transportation.
@@Limitedonathiosmost likely just wanting people with reliable transportation.
So True 💯💯✨✨✨ Not even after a month I had to leave. They called ke immediately 😅😅
I was hired immediately and still working here for 6 years☺️
Love it there still! :)
Edit: btw I agree with this video though! Should always be suss if they're too desperate, just wanted to share my happy opposite experience! ✌🏻
Well i guess, it depends on what type of job you're taking
The reason they hired you is completely different from the reason this guy is implying

This was a job that was listed for a long time. No wonder.

It’s weird how demanding and desperate at the same time some companies can be

@@emilydickinson5422 There was one entry level job I tried to apply for. Granted, I didn't have the best portfolio and was just quickly put but i tried anyways. No surprise I didn't get the job. But honestly looking back, with how jam packed the responsibilities are with meager pay. I'm not surprised it hasn't been filled yet. It was a Voice Over job, but that automatically includes knowing audio editing. They added that you have script writing and for some reason a bit of video editing skills as well. That's like 3 jobs into one with only a salary of 320$ monthly. The people they're trying to find either have better jobs, only know some of the skills, or don't exist.
tldr - Companies have crazy expectations now than they did before. For low pay and high returns.
The biggest red flag is a high turnover rate. Just walk out when they start saying how “the last person only lasted…”.

Great advice.
I hope you can hire me at this point
I never thought to ask those questions, thanks 👍

You have to be observant when you enter the interview. I know it’s a good place if the front desk staff is happy, if they’re rude, burnt out, traumatized or whatever then I know that the place is unhealthy. If you hear other employees cracking jokes laughing and the place is also clean, organized, and everything seems to be working, then I take that as a good place to work on top of my interaction with the supervisor.
Absolutely
