@@zozika I disagree. I own a GR86 and mine sounded like that before I unplugged the ASC fake sound module. The real engine sounds better than the fake sound, especially with a K&N intake and UEL headers.
They put fake engine noise this time, first thing to do is unplug this thing. Although this engine always sounds like it’s about to burst, there is a certain charm to it I must admit.
Agreed. It's almost perfect as is but just a tiny bit more power, maybe 300WHP with it's weight and it's perfect for the street. That can easily be done with mods and it will still be reliable at that power level. I'm going to get one, myself, soon. It was between this or a used C6 Corvette but with the Corvette, by the time you hit redline in 2nd gear, you're already going 80MPH/128KPH.. you can't have fun, rowing through the gears on the street with that, without risking the car being impounded or a hefty ticket.
@@hhaste I don't know where you live, but @TheTopher has a great little rally spec on his Subaru BRZ inluding a lift kit, mudflaps, adaptible springs and a cool wing plus a nice exhaust. Still very fun for sporty road use. He has good video's that go into detail. First tip he gives: Remove the Artificial sound module. Sounds way better without.

No need for talk. Just driving, handling and acceleration. The car could bang out a higher top end speed easily. This is a pure drivers car for the masses. Problem is the masses don’t appreciate what it delivers in the low boxer engine. Weight dispersion and handling. I think back to the early 80’s GTI. Oh what this car will be remembered as in fifteen years.
There's an interesting vid by "car and driver" about the BRZ having higher quality suspension components. Also, the Throttle response is said to be a little more sensible there.
I got a brz and ill say that it is was worth it. They are the same car but with different front ends. The brz seems pretty stable idk how it is against the gr86 but I like it. Also the gr86 tends to get marked up more at dealers from what I hear.

Topspeed was just as good as in the 20 year old Celica TS with 192hp. (~ 225kph) They didn´t manage to make it faster through the years, and that´s a pity. They should have improved the gear ratio in 6th to have a higher topspeed, there are almost 2.000 rpm left while achiving topspeed.
The car is drag limited, by design it cannot go faster, on a dyno it goes 270 km/h, which the 2zz Celica cannot do as its limited by engine. Also, my 1zz Celica's top speed is 200-205 which is very close to the TS and there is 50 HP difference.

The chassis and peripheral equipment are not designed for the 3-cylinder Toyota. To receive this engine the purchase price would be higher, and the dashboards would also have been revised to better match the asking price. The total price would then have exceeded 40,000 euros.... At this price it is no longer a descendant of the GT 86. And then I'm sorry but I love this engine, a real engine in the clutch, a real sports engine sound, and enough pickup for an engine that picks up the revs... I'm fed up with Turbos! If I had the means I would take this vehicle, even if the first 5 gears are too short.

Dyno's show it has more power to the wheels than they claim, which is good.
Dynos show around 250hp. Also, the car in the video seems to still have the fake sound generator active.
