If a toy line EVER begged for a re-release? My money would be on the Adventure People line. The most thoughtful, imaginative toy line ever.

The memory of that Marine Search Team set is buried so deep into my childhood memories I can literally smell it. Had the boat with the shark, too. Bath time was never boring.

I grew up about a half hour away from the Fisher Price factory so I had so many of these sets and I think they're fantastic. So simple, yet so much fun.

My younger brothers had quite a few of these figures and vehicles. They were really well made and provided quite a lot of accessories for the time. I remember seeing all of the nautical sets being used in the pool during the summer months. Such a simpler time with the term digital not even being a gleam in anyone's eye yet.

I would LOVE to see a re-release of these toys. They are timeless. Back in the day I only had the Parachute Stuntman and the Motorcross Team and also Clawtron (who I miss terribly!) I love it that the toys were based on a child's imagination more than an IP. Yeah, Star Wars is great and all, but did your kid ever make their own stories????

It's funny, I was sure I never owned any of this line, then Tony showed X-Ray Man & Woman. Yep, I had those 2, my kid self would gravitate to anything Sci fi looking like them, and translucent was also hard to resist, loved my Crystar dudes. Thanks for jogging my memory Tony!

These must have also been relatively inexpensive at the time because my brother and I had almost ALL the figures and toys and we were pretty poor. We LOVED these toys and since they were the same scale as GI Joe a few years later, it was so easy to have civilians as a part of our Joe vs Cobra battles. The Adventure People line was fantastic!

    • @enfieldjohn101

They sure were. They were pretty reasonably priced thanks to not being based on a licensed property like a movie or comic book. They were also incredibly durable so they were worth the money.

We had lots of Fisher Price toys as kids in the 70's. My favorites were the Adventure People. I still love them. Before I became obsessed with Star Wars when it came out when I was 5, I was into these.
Loved the boats, motorcycle, plane, parachute, helicopter, sub and space ships!
Even after I started getting Star Wars toys, I still played with these FS toys and combined them. It was great that they were the same scale.
They are incredibly well made. All of my FS toys from my childhood still look great and all still work like new.
    Great video!

  • @WilliamTheMovieFan

I was a very young kid in the 70’s. I had a couple of FP Adventure People toys. I had the skydiver. That parachute was great! I also had one of the “outdoor” sets with the Jeep and canoe. Those toys were durable for sure! I was nice to my toys, but every kid forgets and leaves things outside from time to time. I was more into Matchbox’s M.A.C. sets, which were a smaller scale figure line but similar to the Adventure People. Also, was a big fan of the Micronauts, until the Star Wars toys came out! FP Adventure People toys were rugged and super fun! Great video Tony!

I had several of the sets featured in this brilliant mini doc:
-camping set w/ tent, Jeep & canoe
    -the sub/helo set (as shown)
-THE set that I pined for leading up to Christmas 1980: the green all terrain vehicle, boat & plane
My buddy had the motorcycle/van combo & the TV crew. We had hours and hours of fun letting our imaginations run wild. I’d give just about anything to travel back 45 years to a hardcore afternoon of Adventure People. I had no clue that life would blaze by so fast. (sigh)

It was always the toys that my friends older brothers of sisters had and they sometimes cropped up in our Star Wars play but I never really got the line because I was too young. There is something magical about these toys and with ideas so far ahead of its time its insane! If any toy was woke without forcing it like everyone nowadays, this is the toy! It it a real gem of a toy and becoming very very collectable.

I LOVED these toys as a kid! I had the submarine set, motorcycles, parachute, canoe set, jeep and the van. They fit in well with my Star Wars toys. My motorcycle riders were members of the Rebel Alliance, Boba Fett used a parachute and Han Solo and crew often took the jeep when they were on a planet.
And you're right, they were indestructible! Mine took quite a beating and never had anything broken. The jeep would fly down the stairs. Luke got his head decapitated once, but the Jeep was just fine.
