You forgot to show one thing, my friend. When the main ship's doors are closed, they come together to form what's called a "dovetail". At around 5:07 you will see a compatible fitting on the bottom of the escape pod. This allows you to piggyback the smaller craft on top of the larger one by sliding it in reverse atop the Alpha Probe.
My brother, I had forgotten about this most cherished object from my childhood. I’ve watched many of these retro- reviews and remember whens, but YOU HAVE IGNITED MY MEMORIES!! ( all the way to the Battlestar Galactica reference and never using the probe launch position) I can still remember my family taking the battery out because I annoyed them with those classic 70’s space sounds!! Thank you my friend. 🥹✌️.
I had one of those random memory jogs and started searching around for this. I found this video and I just kept remembering things (I was so happy the sounds worked!). OMG I NEVER KNEW THE END OF THE SHUTTLE CAME OFF TO ATTACH TO THE SMALLER SHIP! OMG!!!!! Thank you so much for doing this video!
Wow. Just wow. I had that- played with it for hours and hours. I remembered the little rocket pod as larger too. I think there was a similar toy that was bigger.
Such an awesome toy. Fisher Price's Adventure People line was amazing quality. I had several of their figures and ships, but I always wanted the Alpha Probe.
There was a trend at the time for space toys to be modular. The Battlestar Galactica vehicles could interconnect. The StarBird spaceship could be configured in different ways. I can't remember when the large Space1999 Eagle came out, but it was also designed to be reconfigured, as well.
I just collected my Alpha Star (x2) and Alpha Probe from my parents on the weekend just gone. Wonderful toys! Fisher Price, Hasbro, Kenner, Tomy.. great brands of the time!
Oh wow I have this some where in a box although the stickers have peeled off and the plastic has faded to a yellowish colour. So many awesome memories.
This was definitely a piece of my childhood. I liked the mini ship more than the big one for some reason. Also impressed with the non foggyness of the helmets after so long.
It's so rare and nice to see you being this excited (since I usually watch your LEGO videos the most) Tmade me happy! And this is such a cool looking to me toy even for now.
This was one of my favorite toys of all time, even above most of my old beloved Star Wars stuff. I don't know what happened to this set. Just ome day it was gone. If you ever decide to sell it, I would be interested. I am not a toy collector, I just loved this thing. This and the Adventure People Daredevil van, motorcycle, kayak set. Awesome vid!
Wow! Very cool video. I was thinking about this toy a few months ago. I got mine for my 5th birthday in 81. I remember catching a couple of frogs in my back yard and I hid them from my parents in the cargo bay. Thanks for the nostalgic feels. Good job
I had that! I used to pretend it was a rebel cruiser for my Princess Leia action figure Lol. I loved the Alpha Probe! The Adventure People were a great line of toys. Thanks for sharing! Brings back great memories.
I got a yellowed one at a yard sale a while ago, (it was also missing the figures and tether)I had no idea what it was or that you could do that with the engines!
hey Jang, 4 in 79? thank you so much for getting this bit of your childhood back and sharing it with us, I love the replica viper, I would have done the same, totally looks good for that ship which was the next best ship out of star wars, I did love there home ship too, I loved the sounds this dream toy makes, so cool and very luck then and now,
my childhood toy play set was the Vintage 1998 Matchbox Mega Rig Space Ship Shuttle Mission Alien Play Set , sadly I lost it twice and I will never get it back but the fun times I had with that cool set
jang could you unbox more childhood toys? its quite interesting to see older toys for people like me who are from the younger generation (i am 14 for refrence)
Very cool and funny video! Glad you found this (big) piece of your childhood!

Your excitement was wonderful to share xxx So glad it worked and how much you loved it 👍🏼😊
I had this toy too! I had totally forgotten about it until I did an image search for 80s toys and recognized it right away.
I had searched for this childhood toy for years as well! The internet has solved many mysteries of the past. Thanks for the video!
That second sound effect, the random bleeping one, that 1970's jazz. I had one of these and now I love jazz.
Wow. Just wow. I had that- played with it for hours and hours. I remembered the little rocket pod as larger too. I think there was a similar toy that was bigger.
7:40 probably just changed the way I see you forever lol.
Such a great video...
Kirithor ikr xD

Awesome man. Fantastic memories. I was 5 in 1979 and got that for Christmas. It got used a lot with my Star Wars toys. Very cool

I had one of those too! Wow what a great toy at that time and a great time to be a kid in the late 70's and early 80s. Thanks Jang!

I got this for Christmas and LOVED it!
After 50 years this ship audio still work perfectly.

Most excellent. Lego and Adventure people were the 2 best toys ever made

I loved this toy. Lasted me for years!
Easily one of the most durable toys I ever owned. I loved the Space and scuba diving lines from them.
It made me so happy and joyful to see how happy and exited you were. This make my day😁
I had that! I used to pretend it was a rebel cruiser for my Princess Leia action figure Lol. I loved the Alpha Probe! The Adventure People were a great line of toys. Thanks for sharing! Brings back great memories.
That was a big part of my childhood also . Been looking for one but have yet to find a complete one in good shape.
Thank you for sharing with us a big piece of your childhood
Jang you are awsome I have seen your videos still I was very small I got a stampede 2wd brushed edition
I got a yellowed one at a yard sale a while ago, (it was also missing the figures and tether)I had no idea what it was or that you could do that with the engines!

I had one of these, but little different. The woman was blonde and looked like Barbara Bain from Space 1999 and the man looked like Martin Landau
Adventure People! great video!
Takes me back. I had it too, think I still may have it somewhere.
awesome set I never had that one but I had a bunch of the others
Jang you've gotten crazy in this video! !
Adventure People was a great toy line, and sturdy! These things could take a lot of kid abuse! Glad to see this one is still in pretty fabulous shape.
jang could you unbox more childhood toys? its quite interesting to see older toys for people like me who are from the younger generation (i am 14 for refrence)
They capsule slides over the cockpit too!
Very close to the time of the Star Bird.
The small ship also slides onto ridge at the top of the closed bay doors
I had one too, big 😁
Regards from Switzerland
I loved this toy. Wish I knew what happened to mine
I was surprised to find reminders of the existence of this toy, and I think I was even more surprised by what happens later in the video...
+theJANG i think i had something like that in 2008 or 9 it was space ships and it was huge
Loved the vid ,Jang!

I don't think I've ever heard JANG this excited. lol
I like this video style I think it's cool :)
I never got it,but I did want it.
The Best Ship
Dang, you were limited to one battery as a kid? Kids today would never survive lol, also great video, always very enjoyable!
9v batteries last a while when they are only used for that.
I don't know if Dang is a typo of Jang or if dang was supposed to be said. This hurts my brain xD
Well, you certainly seem like you're enjoying yourself :)
Jang even cringed to the sound effects 😂😂😂
I have this!
cool jang
