Just bought my first boat. Steiger 23 Chesapeake 1989. Love her to death
John...Steiger Craft came out just about the time I was starting my marine surveying career. They had some hiccups in the beginning like all recreational vessel manufacturers do. But the fact they were being purchased mostly by charter captains and law enforcement says a lot about their durability and the quality of the components they use. In my 38 years in the profession I do not ever remember handling a claim on a Steiger Craft due to a hull issue. They are not the glitziest or most trendy but when the weather turns snotty and you have to get home through a nasty inlet there are very few vessels made as competent in the task of getting you safely to your dock. It is probably one reason you find very few of them for sale on the used market.

They should give you one to put through it's paces. Great for the fishing community to see.

It's amazing how strong fiberglass actually is.
I have a 28 miami. LOVE the boat but I will say it does drift straight into the current where my old boat would drift more sideways into the current. While the steiger is incredibly stable at drift not only because if this, but also the 10ft beam, it does make fishing a drift with 4 guys a little difficult. All the lines want to scope out behind the transom and the bracket and motors add a lot of length. That would be my only criticism of the boat. Other than that fast, efficient, and great ride all while keeping me dry and warm.
That was a nice tour, John. Any chance you could arrange a tour of the Parker facility so that we can compare the assembly line and what the parts and pieces are made of and look like? Oh, if there’s an extra 28’8 dual outboard sitting around let me know and when you come back north we can go out.

Definitely. They've got the right gamakatsu hooks for that, plus a double-barbed collar to hold the gulp.
Love a fishing boat like that. I have to admit that I’m surprised they use wood anymore in any part of the boat. They have to durable with commercial guys using them.
The only thing wood is used in is the transom mount

Parkers are wood stringers. Just bought by new owners. No longer family owned and price went up significantly
I hate being deceived! "The only plywood is in the transom".....then they show a boat with at least four other sections with plywood!
I agree. The piece near the bow could have been temporary... but the Plywood in the bottom looked glassed in.
where was you fishing when you was catching blake fish this year
you need them to give you one to replace yours.
Now they can 3D print a boat in couple of days but they should use fiber reinforced filament which is not cheap.

I was going to buy a sea hunt and I went to the factory thay would not let me film. When people compare Steiger to Parker people preferred Parker. Steiger looks like it’s built like a tank so you better have the horses 🐎

He said the only thing wood in our voats is the transom then goes to the next boat ,plywood bulkhead and plywood in the hull bottom

@@zerozero113 don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful boat. And this was quite a few years ago. If there’s a particular model that you like go check it out while it’s in the water and see how it sits, You’ll know right away. If it’s an outboard model and you plan to wet slip it, I would also make sure that when the motors are in full tilt position that they’re not touching the water ...drives me nuts LOL.
