I was still a toddler in the early 80s. Specifically the year of 83. So I wasn't even aware of all the great jingles and commercials airing. However it let's me see the world through the eyes of my parents since they were adults in their late early 30s. Makes understand why people loved this era too. Because it was just as optimistic and alive as the 90s.
Times were definitely tough though for people hoping to buy a home like (y)our parents. In 1982, the 30 yr mortgage rate was 16% 🤯 -- kind of puts some perspective to today's hand-wringing over 5%. 🤷
Woah I remember those Big Mac boxes. Wow! 😯 I had a birthday party at McDonalds one year back in them days. One of the games we played was how many Big Mac boxes each person could stack up with a fan blowing in front of it before the fan blew it over. It was no Chuck E Cheese’s but I had a ball. A bunch of kids from my school showed up. I did Chuck E Cheese a few times after that though! Early 80s was great times!
These commercials bring me back to my freshman year in high school 1981. The Coke Is It commercial is the one that stands out for me because it played so much and I still remember the lyrics after all these years. The majority of these commercials I can remember like it was yesterday.
Love the “Hire a Teenager Today” ad LOL!!! Most seasoned employees will express their opinion as to not do that while still complaining about the reduced work force and lack of help. I know I’ve encountered this scenario several times and this was before our current collapse.
Now I’m glad someone made sure not to let the shows interrupt our enjoyment of these commercials! 🤣 Who would have ever predicted this back then?!?! Gotta ♥️ it!

I had no idea Dr. Pepper ever had blue cans. The commercial jingle was mostly dead by the time I could form lasting memories, but I appreciate the effort that went into them, even if a lot were cheesy. Nowadays, if an ad has music with lyrics, 9 times out of 10, it's either an already existing song, or some bad version of something in the public domain where they changed two or three words. Maybe it's a combination of the food ads and the fact the these videos usually drop around dinner time, but uploads on this channel make me hungry. It's weird.
A lot of ‘80s ad ditties we’re schmaltzy, but I guarantee we’d all be just a little happier today if commercials were still like this. Even at the time we knew they were kind of stupid - we didn’t care.

As I was watching this video it hit me... time to dig-up the head cleaner just to realize that the cleaning fluid had all but evaporated. And the cleaning cloth-tape was all chewed up by rodents. Oh well, back to the laptop, hit the space bar and on with the video.
My mom still sings 2 of her fav songs from commercials! One is “Give a hamburger to someone you like. Give some fries and a shake and make someone happy!” She says is a McDonald’s jingle the other is Millers Outpost that was a jeans store? And it went”From all of us to all of you a merry Christmas star.
I was born in April, 1980, so I have the same feeling
Me too I was only a year old n 83
Me too 1981. I have pictures of my mom wearing plad long sleeve shirts like the ladies in the commercials.
Times were definitely tough though for people hoping to buy a home like (y)our parents. In 1982, the 30 yr mortgage rate was 16% 🤯 -- kind of puts some perspective to today's hand-wringing over 5%. 🤷
Everything seemed so wholesome back then. It was such good era.
Oooohhh 41 minutes. What a treat!
That Clorox one was stuck somewhere in my brain and I completely remembered it
1:34 woah! Diane franklin with the ponytail! Its princess joanna from bill and ted, or suzy putterman from terrorvision!
My Grandma called them "The Young and the Chestless"🤪
😆😆
Hahaha oh my gosh your grandma was cruel lol
Brought back a lot of memories, I totally forgot about. Thank you for doing so.
Remember when they tried the box that separated the hot meat from the cold lettuce and tomatoes 😁
@@timeforchange3786 I'm not sure but I remember the fish sandwiches came in the blue box.
@@luciousthomas6141 and driving up to jack in the box and speaking to a clown head
@@timeforchange3786 McDLT
@@timeforchange3786 The McDLT was that burger. It debuted in 1984 and lasted for about 6 years before it was removed.
Am I the only one who remembers the metal slide at McDonald's behind the cashiers and when you ordered a sandwich they would grab one off of it?
Don't they still do that?
This gave me video cassette flashbacks as I kept wanting to find a tracking knob on my iPhone
These commercials bring me back to my freshman year in high school 1981. The Coke Is It commercial is the one that stands out for me because it played so much and I still remember the lyrics after all these years. The majority of these commercials I can remember like it was yesterday.
THANK YOU DAVE! As a 44 yr old these videos make me smile
Love the “Hire a Teenager Today” ad LOL!!! Most seasoned employees will express their opinion as to not do that while still complaining about the reduced work force and lack of help.
I know I’ve encountered this scenario several times and this was before our current collapse.
Im sending a letter to that address.
Now I’m glad someone made sure not to let the shows interrupt our enjoyment of these commercials! 🤣 Who would have ever predicted this back then?!?! Gotta ♥️ it!
What if Kellogg's never stopped putting more raisins in the raisin bran? Just giant boxes of raisins on our shelves today.
I'm 42 and I can't believe I remember all of these.
Great memories of being a kid in the 80s!
I had a really tough childhood ans don’t remember too much of the early years so sometimes I watch these old commercials and try to see if I can remember watching them.
Just amazing how so many of these products didn’t make it.
Love that first ad=Mcdonalds:THE MUSICAL!😆
as well as the Broadway smash,"Coke Is It!"
The ABC Star Tunnel intro never gets old..
Can this volume be shown in Friday's live-stream..?
mcdonalds was trying to capitalize on the popularity of the movie FAME with that commercial. i havent seen that commercial since 80s but instantly remembered the song lol
@@bb-gc2tx, you must mean the Coke ad. McDonald's totally did its own thing. In fact, "Hopscotch," was a variation, on the original, "Big Mac," complete with patty-cake style hand movements, between pairs of kids. We all did it, in school, lol. I still remember every move!
Johnny depp *!!!! 1980s, 90s 20s, now and forever !!thanks for the memories Johnny *!!! 🎩's off,,, nightmare on Elm st. 1 and beyond ***
Thanks Dave *!
Most definitely cm!

We could sure use Reagan again!
💯%
@@shadowlandstudios86 Reagan and his trickle-down economics is why the middle-class today, is the working poor. Don't be stupid.
@@shadowlandstudios86 I wouldn't use politics in this
@@jerrygil1965 President Reagan was the President of the United States during these years. Many of us who grew up in the 80's have great memories. So maybe it had a lot to do with who was president. 🙂
So many character actors and actors. Love seeing Erin Gray who played Wilma Deering in Buck Rogers on the series.
Geez, that brought back a lot of memories! Just *how* were you able to transfer what looked like hours of stuff on VHS onto UA-cam? Must've taken hours and hours....
It's weird.
Omg the KFC guy. "Mmm yeah!
I kinda remember Sugar Free Dr Pepper in the blue can.
@@kbobdonahue1966 Yeah, diet came in blue cans
The cans were the same color as the periwinkle crayons in the 64 color set "rich kids" had back then.
A lot of ‘80s ad ditties we’re schmaltzy, but I guarantee we’d all be just a little happier today if commercials were still like this. Even at the time we knew they were kind of stupid - we didn’t care.
Exactly. Maybe they kept us in a happier mood all around. Today's commercials are so much colder...and it tends to affect people.
I was born in ‘76, so this is prime viewing for me. I’m definitely getting intoxicated from memories.
I was only 4, 5 years old when a lot of these aired, so too young to remember seeing them. I do remember that being a cool time to be a kid, though. Sure was different back then, that's for sure.
Back in 1994 I used on an 87 Ford EXP. It was definitely fun seeing these commercials.
Datsun commercials. Most people have forgotten or never heard of Datsun.
My mom had a Datsun. The air-conditioner went out and most of the time she drove it in the Texas summer heat the windows were down
When I was younger my mom had stick ups throughout the house, car, closet's, etc., you name a place she had one there. I never knew they were called stick ups, now I do!
This shitty world is coming to a end sooner then later. I am so blessed to be a 70's/80's kid. Wonderful time to be a kid
I am sure someone was saying that in 1982 as well.
Born in 68 you nailed it we grew up in a perfect time. Couldn't imagine what it's like for todays youth, the world and the way it is , it's all Back asswards!!!! Today's youth are getting cheated!
Just one thing missing - 📼 VHS VCR Video Head Cleaner 📼 A mandatory, essential product of the eighties. As I was watching this video it hit me... time to dig-up the head cleaner just to realize that the cleaning fluid had all but evaporated. And the cleaning cloth-tape was all chewed up by rodents. Oh well, back to the laptop, hit the space bar and on with the video.
Woah, I'm back in the 5th grade! :) I'll do my homework later!
I was in the 5th Grade, too! School year 1982-1983.
From Millers Outpost,A merry Christmas star!” She doesn’t remember much of it now due to illness but it makes me happy that I remember☺️
👋👋👋 Dave!!! Thanks for the upload.
U got it Shaun!
I miss these days and I'm only in my 40s
