Just getting caught up on my 80s commercials... This stuff is better than therapy. Who would have thought that this old stuff we took for granted as kids would be so soothing and hold such a place of significance to us in adulthood. Thanks a bunch Dave!
This couldn't have come at a better time Dave. Was watching as I made lasagna. Really more soothing than anything on TV. And the jingles of the 80s and 90s are always so great and comfy. Also noticed Jerry O Connell, and the actor that plays the dad on Pete and Pete.
The dad who was on Pete and Pete I believe was on a late night talk show sketch that I liked, I wanna say Conan, I was like oh wow there’s the das from one of my favorite shows haha. Good actor
Oh, man, those 976 commercials...I remember my mom let me call a few times because I said it was "only 55 cents per call", but there was also the "normal toll charges apply". Yeah, each call ended up being like $20!
@@evanscott9473 that's funny you mentioned that because I some transformers up in a attic in the house I grew up in but the house caught on fire and the 80's toys that I collected had also been destroyed
1:04 - 1:33 Firstly, I didn't know A&E was that old, secondly, damn, she took the dummy and left the ventriloquist. Teddy Grahams had sandwich cookies?! I'd wipe out a box of Teddy Grahams when I was a chubby kid. I'd still do that now, but I know what restraint is. We tried Tuna Helper one time when I was a kid. I think it tasted okay, but it made the whole house smell like fish for hours. I may have said something similar before, but those Cinnamon Toast Crunch guys have changed a lot. Dirt Devil ads used to come on all the time, but I haven't one on TV in years.
Ohhh, how timely the Royal Biography was one of the commercials this week with the 25th anniversary of the passing of Princess Di just a few hours ago.
I'm saddened that I only remember a few of these old commercials. It sure does seem that everyone had nice bushy hair back then :) And I'm also very surprised at how tiny that Princess Cruise ship looked as compared to the cruise ships of today.
I remember some of these when they actually aired on TV. Wow I'm getting old but it was so much fun in those days . 1979 Pontiac grand Prix , def Leppard on cassette, ripped jeans, mullet in full effect, guns n roses band t shirt and white high top converse cons and thought I was dressed to the 9's wow sorry had a flashback.🤘🤘🤘🤘
Those forty nine minutes flew by! The part where the woman who used the throat spray and said that it felt like her throat was coated in medicine cracked me up! Of course it's medicine!!! 😅😅😅
One difference I notice with the older commercials is that they are generally more informative, and they don't portray their customers and insane or overgrown children.
I think it would be so hilarious if you were at work or some random place and somebody walked in the room singing an old 80s jingle like "WASH AND GO WITH PERT". I would crack up, but tbh it's probably something I would do lol.
I love these old vintage TV commercials. Has anyone but me noticed that lately a majority of TV commercials feature some type of reference to dogs, dog food or dog related products, - regardless whether or not the product being advertised has anything to do with dogs? Your thoughts?
I’ll never forget NurtiSweet…and how it was released before FDA approval…then taken out of products when found to be HIGHLY CARCINOGENIC! Another reason to have government testing.
There's a Commercial For AT&T for the 1992 Olympics in this video at 17:06 , I was alive at that time in my early teens. You should re-label this as early 90's commercials. 80's commercials look more like 70's stuff, with bigger hair, big ass cars, not as colorful I think. BUT I gotta say the 90's was my favorite time period so far, and these commercials take me way back. lol ok i'm editing because there was an ad for an 86' Mercury Cougar.
I say this a lot whenever I see older burger/food commercials like at 1:35. You don't see experimental burgers like this anymore. Pizzaburgers and tacoburgers. Not at Burger King and Wendy's and McDonald's and so on. Because the experiment is over. There used to be a time for getting creative with food, but after decades and decades, they finally figured out the safest food to make. The food that offends the least people and is thus most profitable. That's why menus don't change as much anymore. They've basically got their menus down to a science.
These aren't 80's ads because one ad showed movie theatre listings including backdraft, which premiered in 90 or 91 and another for craftmatic adjustable beds has a copyright 1991 stamp on it.
4:58 The great battery race+factoid on Dinosaurs 20:41 the civil war of Gettysburg, now on a chess board! 29:40 Hamburger helper+A1 Sauce on chicken 33:54 Ritz Bitz
43:08 - I can’t believe I just saw a commercial for a possible MLM/pyramid scheme from the ‘80s 😂 I tried to Google a little more about the company but unfortunately it shares a name with Iiluminaughtii, who is on my shit list, so most of the top results were about her. Time to do some digging… #antimlm
Ah the 1980's, when people actually acted like people and not soulless automatons with phones in their hands. By the gods, those were better days. Deep down, we all know it.

Agreed. Commercials in the 80s were more soothing and now it seems as if every other commercial just has annoying noises.
Reality is we were just to focused on moving and now we have it and the time. I'm loving my time machine how about you?
Agreed. Now I got nostalgia.
Sure do love these old commercials. Nice escape back to simpler days.
Sure is. OOOHHH!
