I attended a parochial school starting in 1931. At around 7 or 8 I began to doubt the bible stories. My parents took us kids to the Pittsburgh zoo. I could plainly see that the Ark story was just that, a story. Also I recall that the story of Abraham struck me as ridiculous. But I didn't really split from the church until my Navy days in the Pacific in WW 2. I'm a bookworm & our ship was low on books. So I read the bible. That cured me. Never did reunite with mother church. I'm at peace with my disbelief. Been 'ready to go' for over 5 years now. To rejoin the stardust from which all life forms emanate wherever life exists. How about you ?-

Romeo. Indeed belief is belief, not knowledge :-) Religion is about belief and research of the question of "why". If you want to know "how" than it is science.
When people are defending the supposed "historical" existence of jesus they are really only defending the brand name of jesus and the agenda that it represents.
I think the acceptance of the idea that Jesus never existed is relatively new. I remember atheist school teachers who didn't believe in Christianity at all claiming that it was irrefutable that Jesus existed or that the evidence for Jesus existing was as strong as for any other figure in history and far stronger than that for Homer or Socrates. At least I had atheist teachers.
people who say such things are what we call "fundy atheists." what "agenda"? So atheist scholars are trying to somehow prop up the theological concerns of the Catholic (or Protestant or Orthodox) churches? Look at someone like Bart Ehrman, how is he having best selling books where he denounces, rejects, and does his best to "debunk" all of the cherished traditional Christian beliefs... that somehow means by his saying Jesus at existed... that's because he's a dishonest plant bribed to lie for religion? That makes no sense. and he's not alone. there are legions of non-Christian scholars in academia. but because TWO guys (a retired comic book fan and a perpetually unemployed blogger) disagree, suddenly historical Jesus research is "in crises" and they're declaring victory? THAT my friend, is the fairy tale here. Besides, even if you somehow thought Jesus was the most evil man in history and everything he said and did has lead to misery and made the world worse off... would that mean we could declare he didn't exist? First off, doing so wouldn't make it so, second, that would be a lie. Look at someone like Karl Marx, or Muhammad... do we care so little about truth and are so driven by ideology that we would honestly consider erasing them from history to somehow make up for the harm that's been done in their name? so spare me this broken line of argument. facts don't care about your feelings, OR the political implications. historyforatheists.com
@@HeroQuestFans Actually, I think the evidence for the existence of Muhammad is even sketchier than the evidence for Jesus. Some Jesus Never Existed folks just say that Muhammad existed because they have never looked into it. As to Marx, that is different.
@@gregorykrajeski6255 hey, we've got a live one here! So you are consistent in rejecting history when it comes to religious founders. so other than Robert Spencer (who is not a historical scholar), who says Muhammad wasn't historical? How is Marx "different"? The same arguments made to support Mythicism can be used to justify Marx Mythicism. communism needed a sagely founder to justify all of the evil things they did for a century and they all read him differently. oh but because he lived in the modern period, things like photographs and handwriting can't be faked... I see. but you forget.. he's a figure we don't like, he set things in motion we disagree with a century or more later... so why not declare him myth, legend? If I pick a figure from antiquity that was worshiped as a miraculous god and say "Caesar" you'll say he was real because of the buildings and coins and statues (as if mythical gods can't have these things).
I was 10 when I was made to go into catechism. Despite the fact my grandfather and mother are atheists, my grandmother wasn’t and she forced me to go because it would be a shame if I didn’t go. I recall asking in classes to the priest if adam and eve had their bellybuttons, since they were made from clay and a rib, instead of being born. The priest was so angry he demanded to see my parents. Granny arrived and pleaded him for me to not be thrown out of catechism. Needless to say, once I was done with it, I decided to never go to church anymore. Shortly after I no longer believed any god and by 12 in school I became fascinated with science, then biology, I even wanted to become a scientist at some point, but life sometimes go in other pathways and thus I became an MD. Thanks1, Catholic Church, for not answering my doubts and just forcing me to swallow your truth. I’d never be who I am today if it wasn’t for the bigotry and lies of the church. Atheist, thanks God
Just the idea that some god would use a book at all for any purpose is preposterous on its face..words are an afterthought, and highly inefficient. Words are our consolation prize to ourselves and of no use whatsoever. The action of speaking or writing can be meaningful though most often it's harmful, so the premise that an all-knowing or even slightly more intelligent being would use a language to communicate, and wouldn't make itself and it's desires known to each and every individual is catastrophically stupid, is absurd, without exception. Anyway, besides that most insurmountable barrier there's also the huge leap required to go from undecided to specifically Christianity, or Islam, or any doctrine or set of beliefs, when humans are each different in fundamental ways, makes any, any, any, any preconceived concept of an invisible galactic leader laughable to the point of being offensive and insulting to whatever limited intelligence any person is even capable of. We eat we sleep we shit we reproduce...I dare anyone to point to a single human activity or behavior that is even as pure or efficient as a shrub.. At least plants don't experience the suffering and misery that is all but guaranteed for every bipedal primate. The fact that humans have the time and inclination to dream up magical fairies is absolute proof that no such thing exists.
Ancient religions, including Judaism and Christianity can be said to have been partially derived from astrology. Celestial bodies and their effects translated into stories. It makes for an interesting study. Some think Satan is Saturn. The son of god, the sun represented by Leo. The virgin mary, Virgo. The age of Pisces, the fish, the age of Christainity. Learning with no agenda opens us up to new ideas. Love the thinking person. xoxo
Because Judaism uses a lunar calendar yes many think so. Those who assume Satan is Saturn or Santa forget the Bible was not written in English but in a hieroglyphic (similar to ancient Chinese in whose hieroglyphs were found the story of the God of the judeo Christian faith....now is that not an interesting topic) and numeric language. Intellectual idolatry make many think up these stories instead of checking the historiscity....so, real historical accounts become allegories and referred to as the story of King David". The supernatural, the existence of paranormal whatever cannot fully be explained by a man who wants to be famous with a book or who wants to be called an expert is seen as fact. I would recommend what Dr. Peale author and father of the book of Positive thinking did for most of his clients send these men or women to remote cabins and give them nothing but the bible and the instructions to study it 3 times in between chopping their own fire wood etc. The Greeks and Romans had their gods as the bible refers to the the men who were the heroes of old the legends and yet, when one wanted his son healed he did not pray to one of his Roman gods he went to Jesus to heal his son (which Jesus did from afar). The Greeks had their temple to apollo but when the apostles went to preach to them they accepted the new found Christian faith based on the teachings of Christ and what was that teaching.....Repentance FOR the forgiveness of sin...Luke 24 start from Jerusalem he told them! If the Judeo Christian faith, was derived from the Greek or Roman or even eygyptian gods Judaism and Christianity would have more accounts similar to theirs but, in Egypt one form of medicine was the use of ass' milk and in the judeo Christian religion circumcision is done on the 8th day. Precisely the 8th day, when the young child has all the right conditions according to the wonderful gift of scientific study for the blood to clot. It is interesting to study instead of seeing all these other religions as separate from christianity and christianity as "new" maybe the study should be how do these other religions from the hindu gods, to the Roman gods to the Greek gods, science including quantum physics paranormal science all somehow relate to the the Judeo Christian statements of a young earth, a creator, Angels who contaminated the gene pool, a savior for the human race different planes of existence, different dimensions, the digital simulation that may be our life within a greater reality.....not myths and legends
Satan comes from the hebrew "shaitan", hebrew is a semitic language. Saturn is the latin name for a planet, latin is an indo-european language. When words in different language groups sound similar, but have completely different meanings, then it is just co-incidence that they sound similar, nothing more.

I went to Catholic schools from first grade to Graduate School. I began to doubt the things that the nuns taught because I witnessed the exact opposite of what they were teaching by watching their behavior towards others. I sincerely felt sorry for Jesus having to be crucified for our sins by the will of his own father. I also felt incredibly sorry that he had so many nasty, arrogant, ignorant, obnoxious brides of Christ. 🤨🤦♀️😱😡
While it is sad, Catholics, at least from my experience, don't teach that His execution was a bad thing. It was actually an amazing thing. We should rejoice. He sacrificed Himself for us.
Dying an excruciating death on a crucifix is NOT reason to rejoice. Even Jesus asked God Why did you forsake me? Holocaust victims lost faith too. They were forsaken.
Jesus existed and probably still existed on Earth as a "human in disguised". You these Atheists PHDs are looking for Jesus in history books. Of course he is not in those history books that chronicled about the activities of Empires and Kingdoms. How you come across in history books narrating the Kings and Queens, Emperors and Emperors going to their temple to pray? No! because those historians don't gave a hoot about religions activities specially those outside the realm of the Sovereigns. Why do you think there is a separate of State and Church (religion) today? But in the Bible, which is also a history Book, right? is full of Jesus telling the people what he did and did not do. @@Kinesiology411
He wasn’t born on 25 December and no date is given anywhere. It was impossible for the Magi and shepherds to have been there on the same night e.g. the Magi followed a star that only appeared upon his birth. The two gospel accounts of his birth conflict - how? The only witnesses were his parents. Who delivered him? The Basilica of the Nativity was apparently built on the site of the stable. How did they know over 35 years later, where he was born? It would have been developed. Downstairs you can kiss the exact spot where was born……how can they prove that?! The four Gospels were not written by the names given to them and written forty or fifty years after his supposed death. Why take so long to record such a famous person? Emperor Constantine created Christianity by issuing an Edict of Milan in 313 and proclaimed himself to be one. It was created to subdue great civil unrest to give the Jews somebody to believe in. There are other examples of the story we are given that just don’t make sense.
"It was impossible for the Magi and shepherds to have been there on the same night e.g. the Magi followed a star that only appeared upon his birth." Scripture never claimed shepherds and the Magi were there at the same time.
It's important to distinguish between 'Jesus' as laid out in the biblical texts (a story that is obviously utter nonsense) and the idea of a man who existed around that time, with that name, who was crucified. I think Dr. Carrier raised some very excellent points there. The fact there was already a celestial figure named Jesus before Christianity is very interesting indeed.
The fact there was already a celestial figure named Jesus before Christianity is not to the point if Jesus was a historical person or not, Jesus was a popular name at the time and surley Jesus was a historical figure.
Filip Weekx I think the point was that the celestial figure called Jesus was prophesied to come to earth and do lot of the things the bible tells us Jesus did. This makes the biblical account of his life (or his having lived at all) far less likely to true. The fact so many other prophet's/religious figures performed strikingly similar actions and led similar (and also prophesied) life's adds even more weight to that hypothesis. Regardless of all that, I remain unconvinced that the actual 'Jesus' was a complete invention, but I think the theory does have a lot of plausibility to it. What I've taken from all this is the following- If you want to be accepted as a prophesied figure you'd make certain you perform the actions expected of that figure. We know that most of the 'miracles' he performed are easily reproducible parlour tricks, so it wouldn't be hard. It never crossed my mind that he might have essentially been following a script; by doing what he was already predicted to do. The world's most successful actor/magician, playing to it's dumbest and most uneducated audience.
The Christ myth theory (also known as the Jesus myth theory or Jesus mythicism) is the proposition that Jesus of Nazareth never existed but was invented by the Christian community. The idea was first put forward in the late 18th century and developed and popularised in the 19th by Bruno Bauer. So it were the Christians itself that came up with it. I think you 're right to say that Jesus is a historical person because also at the 19th century, at the start of the Industrial Revolution there was a big debate if Jesus was a historical person or not and the conclusion was in favor for the historical Jesus.

I went to Christian indoctrination schools from about 3 to about 6 years old. I did little Jesus projects and all. I think that I once believed in Jesus. But I was 100% atheist by the time I was 9 and I can't recall any time when I changed my mind.
Well that wasn't my experience When I was young my ss was very historical and practical it saved me later from getting into a lot of trouble and pain which I saw many I knew end up really messed up. Some even dead.
I went to a Christian school but I was atheist the whole time. I actually did really well in bible class, but that was probably because I could memorize stuff better than most other students. I don't think my bible teacher even realized I was atheist until one day I went into a debate with him over evolution. He tried very hard to convert me after that, but obviously he was way too optimistic. Nice guy though.

@Brad Watson see, now there's the thing, the Christ a) wasn't the son of Joseph, he's quite specifically the son of Yaweh and b) wasn't called Jesus. When we read tales of a demigod with superpowers who was the mutant offspring of a human woman and a god, whose rotting corpse magically returned to life…such as Romulus, Hercules, Aesculapius, Dionysus, Jesus, etc.---what is the *MOST LIKELY EXPLANATION* ? 1) These are fiction stories, or 2) These are real historical events? What I have a problem with Jesus is that #1 the Reptilian ambassador Lacerta doesn't mention Jesus at all even though she recounts the departure of Elohim in their space ships 5000 years ago... she says they were not seen since. So how could a "son of god" have returned without the Reptilians knowing about it? and #2 Jesus is a man without a childhood. His years from age 12 to age 30 are unknown. There are hints he might have spent them abroad in Asia but after so long it's just weird no evidence has materialized, especially seeing how important he is... a possible option is he was modeled after other demigods whom ALSO did not have accurate childhoods.

As an atheist that was not exposed to organized religion during childhood, I think it's fascinating to watch how people have to deprogram themselves from religious brainwash, and even after they do, the memory / wound is so fresh that they can relate and remember the mindset and behaviour at large. As if someone put an alien mind-controling brain parasite, that hijacked you for its own collective purpose, and people got aware of it and then rid of it by accident. Good for you people.
I'm right in the midst of exactly this. 6th generation pastors kid, and was a pastor myself for many years. Finally feeling somewhat stable again after a couple years of deep introspection and deconstruction. Been difficult but rewarding.
Personally, I believe the deeper wounds occur through denial and hatred of a being that you couldn’t possibly wrap your head around. I strayed away from the faith for several years and, the further I got away from God, the worse I felt. It became an overwhelming feeling of emptiness that no amount of reading books by or listening to atheists could fill. There was no deprogramming from being a Christian so, I’ll call you out on that one but, there was most definitely deprogramming the empty headed ideas of my atheism. As an atheist , I had an intense dislike for Christianity and the people who practiced it but, that disappeared as I started discovering faith in the God of the Bible. Historically, Yeshua (Jesus) most certainly existed and, there is a plethora of information that proves he did. The problem with atheists is that they already have their minds made about it and, no amount of evidence to the contrary is acceptable. It’s as though critical thinking and reasoning are thrown out and replaced with nothing.
@patrickian8843 pathetic drivel. Provide one shred of evidence of the supernatural, or preferably your specific brand of supernatural at the very least. Your anecdote is garbage. I'm disappointed that you'd even try and write this irrelevant crap as a point in your favor. Your inability to survive in a world without a god is not your fault. You were indoctrinated, and all the tools you'd otherwise gain from growing up were taken from you. Of course it'll be harder. But it's truth. And you ought not misconstrued your own internal failings as evidence of any supernatural work. Do and be better
Like the topic and delivery. Killing me with the loud drinking though.

Funny how people devote their entire lives "attempting" to destroy the existence of our Lord. Try as they may, judgement is still awaiting those persons in their near future...a judgement they can not escape...
Yeah, you're right. It's ridiculous how folklore formed the belief system for the world. It seems to be in decline here in the U.S.. Europe has put it behind them much more than we have. I first noticed this over 40 years ago on trips to Denmark & Sweden. It was a pleasant surprise.
@@Coryiodine we are all waking up. As a post-christian I can confirm it's a toxic, man made religion. Mostly doesn't make people's lives better, rather divides and uses judgement instead.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between fantasy and fairy tales, between myths and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his ignorance. This is the dimension of imagination, gullibility and delusion. It is an area which we call the RELIGIOUS ZONE
It is the teachings of Jesus that should matter....teachings that we as ppl talking about following them,oh well....we are not even close to those teachings.....as long as there are priests that while teaching jesus doctrine, while making fortunes for themselves...well,i say dont even bother listening to them....they are the FAKE ONES,actually the most miserable ones in the eyes of Jesus Christ....he said,THOSE ARE THE WORST ONES....BEWARE
When you think about what he is saying it makes complete sense. I noticed something was weird with Paul continuously saying it was a revelation. it bothered me that no disciples had told him anything and why couldn't we find anything on them and their churches since they supposedly walked with Jesus and was there. it made no sense
Sure you can. Google "Ebionites" Those were the Israelite-Christians; followers of the preaching of the apostles to the Jewish community in Jerusalem. [of course, the community then was expecting the messiah to bring the end of Roman rule so . . . that didn't happen. No wonder Christianity had to happen somewhere other than Israel. The Israelites knew better.
Brandy Mundy I have heard that the Gospels were written about 40-70 years after the accepted death of Jesus. The people who wrote the New Testament probably never met him.
Dr. Reagan Boone, PhD well, I believe they established there was a Pontius Pilate. They found a funeral ossuary with the name Kiafus Engraved on it from the 1st century. You could be absolutely correct about that. There are many holes in the story, I agree. The thing I can not understand is why the belief in Jesus is still so pervasive today if it is all myth.
Let's say you have the most important news ever, the story of Jesus. In uncertain times when you could die early in any number of ways like disease, war and such, would you write it down then and there or leave it till you will, if you survive, be a doddery old man with a poor memory, and no eye witnesses to back up your story? That is the story of the gospels, written 50-90 years after Jesus. Illiteracy is not an excuse since a scribe could have written something down for you for a pittance.
+Michael Hill Why should they write everything down right after Jesus' ascension? I don't think you understand much of what Jesus' disciples actually believed. They probably thought Jesus' return was going to be in their lifetime. Besides, what's up your dating the gospels 50-90 years after Jesus' death? That's ridiculous. Bart Ehrman has stated before that he believed them to be 35-60 years after Jesus. And it goes without saying that he's extremely liberal. Many scholars date them much earlier.
+M. Aaron . Did Jesus ascend? We know the last 12 verses of Mark, on which Matthew and Luke (and Acts) are based are known fakes. Google it. The last verse of John says Jesus lived a long life, before presumably dying a human death, which some believe was in India (read Jesus in India). John was written late enough that it could have been after such a death. This was a time when the average age before death was 30 so best to write things down quickly. Why would anyone delay since such writings could be used for the early church rather than hearsay which quickly becomes distorted. If you have read Ehrman, you know that even gospel writings were distorted by people with agendas. We have no evidence when the gospels were written down. We have a few verses from 125 AD, which could have even been in a letter and later put into John. There are a few other verses in the second century and suddenly come the third century, we have whole books turn up, as if this was when they were written. Bart Ehrman BELIEVES is not evidence. Many scholars? Names and their evidence? Jesus came to Earth with a message, was said to be literate at the age of 12, but left nothing behind. Why is that? Where is the evidence that he even existed? Jesus and his disciples expected his return to be imminent according to the bible but nearly 2,000 years later we know that was all lies.
+M. Aaron Many scholars date them much later but that is irrelevant. Mans memory is notoriously fallible so even something written down 35 to 60 years (your timelines) after his death and the death of the disciples cannot be used as a true story as so open to the authors writing what they want as no one to correct them. There were i believe 16 well known scribes who we have copies of their works. They operated in Jesus` time and area but never mention him. Thats a deal breaker for me. Nothing was written down by anyone about Jesus whilst he lived or indeed immediately afterwards.
+Karen henderson . Ignoring the known christian forgeries like Josephus, Pliny, etc, no one of the time wrote about this amazing man who could do the impossible: www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2776194/Jesus-never-existed-Writer-finds-no-mention-Christ-126-historical-texts-says-mythical-character.html If you had the most important news ever, about Jesus, in uncertain times where a common disease could kill you, a criminal or war could kill you, where in old age you could have dementia, would you not get the message down straight away rather than wait half a century? Even if you could not write, a scribe could do it for you for a pittance. More importantly, you could get witnesses to what you write too, to write their backup accounts. But the gospels were written long after witnesses could corroborate or deny them, and Matthew and Luke were heavily based on Mark with the phoney early life story to make them look different. John was written maybe 90 years later so was wholesale fake. Jesus came to Earth with a message but left nothing behind. What if he was no more than the imaginary angels in the cave of Mohammad and Joseph Smith?
Karen henderson Wow. You're dumb. But that's okay, sort of. How the hell would you know if scribes did or did not write about Jesus during his lifetime? Were you there? Don't you know about the burning in Rome? Don't you know most documents get lost in antiquity? Grow some brain cells.
Sent to Sunday school at 5 years old, no choice as none of us do at that age but by the time I was 9 I was getting frozen out by Sunday school teachers who wouldn’t or couldn’t answer my few simple questions. I went along with the stories as all children do until I was 12 and began with modern history at school and the subject was on Concentration camps and everything that had gone on in them and the millions of people who died. I continuously asked questions and looked for explanations on the horror but no one was prepared to listen to what a 12 year old brat needed to know. It was then I began to resist going to church, how could this God all knowing and loving allow that to happen whose son Jesus , we were told was King of the Jews.....still waiting for answers at 71. 😢
Same experience with my parents. Why didJesus let this wonderful person get murdered? Why didn’t I get the fishing rod I prayed for? But hey we just don’t know, is existence an accident. Who created God? I listened to this guy who said some things are not created, they always existed and will always. Ok shut up now that’s enough from me.
We are storytellers by nature. That is a function of the mind to use imagination as a means of making sense of the vast universe in which we live. Stories can serve as metaphors for understanding ourselves and world. Many of our stories have archetypal characters to represent the sum of who we imagine and/or desire ourselves to be. These archetypes as Sage, Scholar, Warrior, King, Lover, and so forth, are quintessential qualities that we seek to embody, and as such, we often travel far and wide to find a mentor who fits the description of what we are consciously or subconsciously looking to discover about ourselves. That is how the guru/disciple; teacher/student, coach/player, etc. relationships begin. Oftentimes, these relationships are based on fiction made to appear real through consensus and, over time, become our core beliefs. These core beliefs serve many functions, and not the least, to establish a moral basis for communities to prosper and to grow. At some point, it inevitably falls apart, and we make up stories about devils, and angles, good and evil, heaven and hell, and it is here where we either dive completely in or otherwise walk away as yet another set of measurable beliefs called science and technology take hold. Still, no matter the strength of our prayers, an asteroid or nuclear weapon will blow all our made-up stories to kingdom come. The narrative ends with, only those who share my core belief will be saved. When the here and now is not enough, the hereafter becomes the better game.
@@raysalmon6566 Very simply, the Tacitus reference provides no credible evidence for Jesus. Even the Encyclopedia Brittanica states that the Tacitus reference "does not provide independent evidence about Jesus." www.britannica.com/biography/Jesus/The-Jewish-religion-in-the-1st-century#ref748595 This is because Tacitus was born in 56 CE and could have no personal knowledge of Jesus, and the Annals was originally written in 116 CE--which is well after the gospel stories were in circulation. At best, even if we had the original 2nd century manuscript handwritten by Tacitus, the reference would be only hearsay. But what we *ACTUALLY* have is a single 11th century manuscript written by Christian scribes who were notorious for forgery, fiction, and fraud. There were 1,000 years of hand-copying and edits between the original manuscript and our earliest copy of it. If Christians claim that this passage is authentic, where is their evidence to prove it? There is none. Someone once created a compilation of traits that were shared among mythical heroes like Zeus, Apollo, King Arthur, ect. When applied to Jesus he scored higher than any other mythical hero. According to this study Jesus was shown to be less likely to have existed than King Arthur.

If the claims of any religion are true, if they give a true picture of reality; then we should expect that objective scientific inquiry into the nature of reality aught be able to converge, independently, on the same conclusions as that religion; that is, without reference to any of the texts of the religion. If science cannot independently reach the same conclusions then why should the religion be given any credence, the only reason to believe the religion is that the religion proclaims itself to be true. The personal experiences of individual believers are not admissible as evidence because every religion has people who attest to its truth from personal experience or revelation.
wmthewyld A circular argument is one in which the conclusion is used as a premise; or, to put it another way, an argument that assumes what it's conclusion is. In what way have I done that? If the truth claims of a religion are true then they should be independently verifiable. For example, if there were a group of scientists working in insolation we should expect them to make at least some of the same discoveries as other scientists.
wmthewyld Science is a systematic investigation into the way things are, it deals with what is; if there is the "spiritual" then it should be possible to investigate it in a meticulous way. That wouldn't be "spiritual science ", it would just be science. You are effectively admitting that there is no way that the claims of a religion can be discovered through investigation in an independent way. In the case of Christianity, all you have to go on are the writings of people who lived in the Iron age. Without those writings there is no way that a person making an independent study of reality could reach those conclusions. Christianity is making truth claims, truth claims aught to be verifiable. For example, if the human race was tricked into sin and was condemned to spend eternity in hell; there should be some way of establishing the truth of that in the world. If there isn't, then what is the status of a claim like that?
fiveredpears science is nothing more than "best guessing" with a degree. Here is just one item of proof. A notable case of a scientists using fraudulent material to promote Darwinism was the work of German scientist and atheist Ernst Haeckel. Noted evolutionist Stephen Gould wrote the following regarding Ernst Haeckel's work in a March 2000 issue of Natural History: “ "Haeckel’s forceful, eminently comprehensible, if not always accurate, books appeared in all major languages and surely exerted more influence than the works of any other scientist, including Darwin…in convincing people throughout the world about the validity of evolution... Haeckel had exaggerated the similarities [between embryos of different species] by idealizations and omissions. He also, in some cases - in a procedure that can only be called fraudulent - simply copied the same figure over and over again.…Haeckel’s drawings never fooled expert embryologists, who recognized his fudgings right from the start. Haeckel’s drawings, despite their noted inaccuracies, entered into the most impenetrable and permanent of all quasi-scientific literatures: standard student textbooks of biology... Once ensconced in textbooks, misinformation becomes cocooned and effectively permanent, because…textbooks copy from previous texts.... [W]e do, I think, have the right to be both astonished and ashamed by the century of mindless recycling that has led to the persistence of these drawings in a large number, if not a majority, of modern textbooks!" So much for accuracy in science.
Finally found an educated explanation. This is wonderful. Throughout my life my paradigms have shifted. Doing the research necessary to prove my beliefs and understandings has been taxing. So I applaud this man for his research. Thanks so much.
That's the thing Jesus is not knowledge or science , He's an encounter. An experience that is supernatural, so i encourage you not to stop trying to find answers .

Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed, and most biblical scholars and classical historians see the theories of his non-existence as effectively refuted. In antiquity, the existence of Jesus was never denied by those who opposed Christianity. Although a very small number of modern scholars argue that Jesus never existed, that view is a distinct minority and virtually all scholars consider theories that Jesus' existence was a Christian invention as implausible. The problem for the historian, wrote Blainey, is not therefore, determining whether Jesus actually existed, but rather in considering the "sheer multitude of detail and its inconsistencies and contradictions". -Wikipedia.
Almost all bible scholars are also Christians and get into the field for precisely that reason, so an appeal to majority is not really that convincing. In any case, it's not what people's opinions are that matters, but what they can actually demonstrate and unfortunately there's no information about Jesus outside a work that is, as you say, full of inconsistencies and contradictions in addition to making claims about violations of natural law. The fact that the existence of Jesus was not contested by critics is not really a major point either, given that there are no critics within a time frame where they could easily dispute it by pointing at living witnesses. What on earth do you suppose critics of Christianity in Rome would do to find out who lived in Jerusalem a century earlier? Hell, you're talking about a time period where people readily accepted miracle claims from other people and even "historians" reported omens and magic as well. In any case, the biggest problem with the claim "Jesus existed" is that it is very similar to "Abraham Lincoln the vampire killer existed". Even if there was a real guy motivating it all, it's abundantly clear that the mythical character did not exist and it's incredibly misleading to say that "Abraham Lincoln the vampire killer existed" merely because there was a historical person named Abraham Lincoln.
Gnomefro The field of New Testament scholarship is very diverse. There are many Jews and secular humanist, and even among Christians you have extremely liberals scholars like E P Sanders, Thom Stark and Dale Allision just name a few. Conservative scholars do not dominate the conclusions of this field; it is highly contested. But despite the biases of Christian, Jewish, and Atheist critical scholars of early Christianity and their diversity of opinions, they are untied in affirming that Jesus existed through their rigorous study of the original languages, culture, sociology, and theology of the 1st Century. While the only group of people who tend to deny that Jesus existed are "fundamentalist" atheist (Ex: Carrier and Atheism Plus?? really?) motivated by a desire to destroy Christianity rather than critically assessing facts.
***** So you're basically guessing that Jesus didn't exist without analyzing the entire New Testament yourself? You're relying on the words of others who also haven't done the same?
Zog, you are spelling-bee king. *Applause* Anarchist, wtf?? Neither is Jesus. There are more than 40 gospels right? as Carrier, himself mentions. So if any story about Washington, turns out to be a little fudged, we are safely assured, Georgie was actually a curious cartoon monkey, that we personified. LOL. Also, sure 3000 yrs from now, we will believe Abraham Lincoln was a vampire killer. But does that mean Abrhahm lincoln didnt exist? So you yourself are asserting, that ALL OF THIS we have today, doesnt just come out of one man's imagination. There must be a historical or factual basis behind it all, who is Jesus. Duh. How much of the Bible you want to believe is your perogative, but to take it to the extreme, and say that Jesus didnt exist? That's just fucked up. Especially given what he did for you and me. This guy is alone in the historical community. Nobody denies he was real anymore. If it's so obvious, why do they have to have meetings to convince themselves. And if the new testament doesn't hold to historian standards, than neither does; hesiod, Herodotus, Plato or many others we have far less confirming evidence for. This is false and unresearched, meant for people who don't read for themselves.
BMore, he is alone among academic scholars. Jesus was a historical person. It's confirmed by Roman documentation. The miracles are debatable, existence is not. A person named Jesus was crucified. I'm not telling you he's God. I'm saying, credible historians no longer teach he's a complete work of fiction. That's ridiculous! When it comes to Plato, we have copies of copies of copies. We have documentation from the time of Jesus. If these don't hold to historical standards, then a lot of stuff from the Greeks we love so much should be called in to question also. Because they have less confirming sources. It doesn't matter what people who have a high school understanding of history think.
That also means we should throw out people who mention Jesus. So Josephus is bullshit. Even though he was hired by Roman's to record Hebrew history. The Roman's also have records of Jesus. Maybe no one knew how to record history...silly ancient people 😆😆😆
...and Josephus was a Jewish HISTORIAN. Are you implying he made him up? Only 60yrs after the fact, the Roman's would still remember and would've called Josephus out if they didn't agree. And the apostles were a band of rebels running for their lives. Do you really think they were handing out pamphlets after the crusifiction? 20yrs isn't that long. There were no printing presses. We have no writings of Plato, only people who commented on his writings 500 yrs after his death. By your standards, he's fiction too.
Ok, again...not making claims about God. I don't go to church. I'm just saying a man, who opposed the Roman's died on a cross. Religious scholars at accredited universities don't treat Jesus as a complete work of fiction. The texts meet the criteria for historical existence. If these writings are thrown out, then the standard must be reset across academia. That's why the subject is still debatable. You don't have to believe he's magic. But saying he didn't exist at all is outdated.
@BMore so... people closer to the date he existed would've shunned you...no shit. Also, Egyptian pharaohs made claims of resurrection and godhood. Did they not exist? And you're claiming Christianity started with no centralized figure or charismatic leader? No apostles? Who anonymously started this movement? Why would a group of Hebrews sperate from Jews to be hated by their own people. Hunted by Roman's. Then somehow gained enough influence to insert a complete myth into historical documents, 60 yrs after his made up existence. And there was no one old enough around to contest them? That's quite a conspiracy. Every myth contains at least some truth. Did Pontius pilot exist? Was Rome's occupation of Jerusalem real? You're claiming none of the leaders of the Christian leaders even existed. How did this movement gain traction?... with a really cool story?...that seems equally ridiculous 🤣

The writings of Hyam Maccoby, particularly his Revolution in Judaea and his The Mythmaker, provide useful comprehension of the creation of Christianity as largely motivated by Roman anger at Jews for their revolt led by Simon bar Kokhba.
Tell you what, find me contemporary evidence for Alexander the Great(whom no one doubts existed) and I'll send a bunch more, none of which are from Christian sources.. “Jesus practiced magic and led Israel astray” (b. Sanhedrin 43a; cf. t. Shabbat 11.15; b. Shabbat 104b) “Rabbi Hisda (d. 309) said that Rabbi Jeremiah bar Abba said, ‘What is that which is written, ‘No evil will befall you, nor shall any plague come near your house’? (Psalm 91:10)… ‘No evil will befall you’ (means) that evil dreams and evil thoughts will not tempt you; ‘nor shall any plague come near your house’ (means) that you will not have a son or a disciple who burns his food like Jesus of Nazareth.” (b. Sanhedrin 103a; cf. b. Berakhot 17b) “Our rabbis have taught that Jesus had five disciples: Matthai, Nakai, Nezer, Buni and Todah. They brought Matthai to (to trial). He said, ‘Must Matthai be killed? For it is written, ‘When (mathai) shall I come and appear before God?’” (Psalm 92:2) They said to him, “Yes Matthai must be killed, for it is written, ‘When (mathai) he dies his name will perish’” (Psalm 41:5). They brought Nakai. He said to them, “Must Nakai be killed? For it is written, “The innocent (naqi) and the righteous will not slay’” (Exodus 23:7). They said to him, “Yes, Nakai must be kille, for it is written, ‘In secret places he slays the innocent (naqi)’” (Psalm 10:8). (b. Sanhedrin 43a; the passage continues in a similar way for Nezer, Buni and Todah) And this, perhaps the most famous of Talmudic passages about Jesus: “It was taught: On the day before the Passover they hanged Jesus. A herald went before him for forty days (proclaiming), “He will be stoned, because he practiced magic and enticed Israel to go astray. Let anyone who knows anything in his favor come forward and plead for him.” But nothing was found in his favor, and they hanged him on the day before the Passover. (b. Sanhedrin 43a)

@@johnnycanupp2123 - Uh yeah, what a loving, kind, compassionate god you have there that would send a soul to burn in hell for eternity because the person chose to not believe in a nonsense story of Jesus dying for our sins! What if Allah is the real god? Guess where you're going!
Seems some of you have God mixed up with Jesus. You know they are supposed to be two different individuals. Now, if you learn theology like priests do then you would understand that religion is based on ancient teachings which are based on Astrology. Furthermore there is no evidence that Bible is based on real events nor that Jesus existed.
Just for the record... and nothing really to do with religion... "God" is THAT formless Infinite, All Inclusive Consciousness /Awareness which is the underlying Essence ... of all that IS and IS NOT. This formless Consciousness / Awareness is that underlying Essence .... which both supports and permeates all experiential realities of the non-local / non-physical mind. We are ALL the *THAT* of 'I AM THAT'... because THAT is ALL that exists. The only 'difference' between Jesus and MOST human BEings is that He actually KNEW who He was... Infinite Consciousness IN A MANIFEST FORM... while most have no idea who/what they TRULY ARE. In a very real sense 'we' are ALL the "Dream of God"... and of course Dream and Dreamer are ONE and the same. Most are still caught up in the divine dream of "NOT God"... however... SOME ARE Awake, while fewer yet are fully Enlightened. The KEY is Grace... the Revealing power of "God" / Consciousness. One uch as Jesus was not only fully Enlightened .. but as a Grace Bestower in His own right, had the ability to Awaken (those who were ready) to their own Divinity. So... Jesus was "God", YOU ARE " God"... Everyone and everything IS " God"... at their core essence. The key to SELF REALIZATION is Grace alone. Grace rips away the veil of ignorance which hides our True SELF from us. Nothing 'here' is as it appears to be. This is all a Divine Play of Consciousness and YOU.. to say, your TRUE SELF, not who you THINK you are, are the ONLY ONE HERE. .. Playing ALL these roles... all for the sake of the experience. Religions are clueless when it comes to "God"... what they call God is nothing more than a flawed mind construct which they model after their own judgemental, ego veiled minds. .. thus they end up with this Judgemental Deity God which, sadly, looks a lot like their own distorting ego. They even go as far as to hijack and distort Jesus.. to fit their own dogmatic narrative. Fact: Those Grace Awakened BEings who actually KNOW "God" .... KNOW better than to bother with any religion. They KNOW that "God" / Infinite Consciousness is the actual ESSENCE of all that IS ... that Jesus is "God'.. and that they too ARE "God". ... Dream and Dreamer are ONE, and eventually the Dreamer Awakens... when the time is right. Point to something which is NOT "God" in essence... it is impossible. What we THINK we are does die.. however.. THAT which we Truly are, which is currently hidden from the mind, has Never been Born and Never Dies. That all pervasive Consciousness is our True SELF. There is nothing to be saved from except the ignorance of our own veiled mind.. that THINKS that something other than "God" could actually exist. That which is NOT "God" is not ultimately real, but only a temporary construct of the mind... the mind being The Creative TOOL of " God". All just meaningless words here UNTIL Grace strikes, destroying our false ego, and Revealing our True SELF to us. One such as Jesus is far FAR Greater than ANY religion can comprehend. Jesus IS "God" and REALIZES THAT.... while YOU are "God" .. who has YET to Realize this Ultimate Truth. Grace alone Awakens and Grace is a FREE AGENT, owned by no religion, individual or group. Whatever the veiled, finite mind THINKS "God" is will always fall short of THAT Absolute Reality. So.. SEEK WITHIN...Be still and KNOW what the thinking mind can never Know ... that "God" alone exists. Peace
Be thankful we're not lunatics. We wouldn't let you get away with that statement if we were. In contrast, the true lunatics are people like nazi-like Sam Harris, anti-theist high priest Richard Dawkins, and anyone who takes what they say seriously.
Darwins Myth Religion, in any incarnation, is evil, greedy, and divisive. Only religion will strap on a concealed bomb and walk into a crowded market, or murder a vital contributors of society in the name of its deity. Believe what ever you wish, as long as you keep your filthy gutter religion out of public policy and my secular government. A secular world is a sane world.
perfectbark Yes I suppose "loving your enemies" and "praying for those who persecute you," is indeed evil and greedy. Horrible in fact. Just because some may hide behind religion and use it to gain control over people and for abuse, doesn't mean it's the religion itself that's at fault. People that actually have love for their fellow man (as religions some command) would never commit such atrocities. But I guess you have to leave all that out right, if you want to incriminate religion from a narrow-minded perspective? Guns don't kill people, neither do bombs. People kill people. By the same logic, we could say science is evil, because it allows people to invent nuclear weapons, which can be used for terrorism. But that would be wrong. Those abuse and misuse religion and science for their own selfish purposes are at fault, rather than the field of religion and science themselves.
***** all of the worlds religions are a contrivance of man. Historically, all religions come, and go. Guns, are an invention of man, a tool that can be both useful and serve man, and abused. Science revealed the atom, technology, a contrivance of man, applied the knowledge secured through science and used it to make a weapon, again, an invention, or contrivance, of man. It's when one man believes that his religion or his ideology is superior to another man's ......well, therein lies the problem. If I had the opportunity right now to go to Sochi for a once in a lifetime chance to see the winter Olympics I'm afraid that I would have to decline, Why? Because man hates man, historically this hatred is revealed through the dogma of religion, and one man's ideology and religion, he believes, is superior to another resulting in one religious looney trying to eliminate another.
I challenge any religious person to explain why the god you learned to believe in is any more real than all the other gods you never learned to believe in.
wmthewyld Of course you don't. And you also don't care if what you believe is true so long as it makes you feel good. That's the immorality and dishonesty that makes you who you are and makes you able to pretend that you are a special being among countless other not so special beings. How convenient for you. Well I say you are nothing more or less than a modern savage not unlike those who put plates in their lower lips and dance around sacrificial fires. You are the witch burners, the devil worshipers, and the mental zombies who are an embarrassment not only to yourself, but to the entire human race. Shame on you for being so weakminded and intentionally ignorant. Oh and buy the way... You obviously could not find a rational answer to my question that could in any way validate your delusional big daddy in the sky. I rest my case and what makes you think anyone cares whether you care?
Pat Kelly please have yourself checked, you seem to be a syphilitic idiot. Everyone one wants to feel good, that's why drugs are so popular. Your stupidity amazes me, here I say it's OK to believe in what you want or don't want to believe in and you say that's immoral and dishonest? If you believe Jesus is a myth, prove it. Show me the writings of 1 Roman historian that states Jesus is a myth.
wmthewyld You my friend are the blithering idiot for suggesting that I should attempt to prove something or someone doesn't exist. If you had any brains you would know that you cannot prove a negative though I am sure you think this makes your position somehow more valid than mine. Dream on savage. You suggest that I should have myself checked out because I don't pray to imaginary spirits??? That's like being called crazy by someone behind the bars of a third story window as you drive out the gate of an insane asylum. You're the delusional one my friend not me. If you can look yourself in the mirror with a straight face while you tell yourself that someone is listening to all your prayers, then we need to have a serious talk about a bridge that just went on sale. Is Jesus a myth? Who knows and who cares. Is Jesus the son of god? Sure if you can only figure out which god or gods ranging from Zeus to Allah. If you can't answer the simple question I posed then stop wasting both our times with your poor attempts to defend something that is indefensible. Prove your god is real or stop being so incensed when others point out your stupidity and ignorance.
Pat Kelly 1. "If you can't answer the simple question I posed " what question was that? 2. If Jesus is a myth, prove it. Show me the writings of a Roman historian that states Jesus is a myth. Here is proof from a Roman historian that Jesus did exist: And now Caesar, upon hearing the death of Festus, sent Albinus into Judea, as procurator. But the king deprived Joseph of the high priesthood, and bestowed the succession to that dignity on the son of Ananus, who was also himself called Ananus... Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he assembled the sanhedrin of judges, and brought before them the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James, and some others; and when he had formed an accusation against them as breakers of the law, he delivered them to be stoned. 3. "You suggest that I should have myself checked out because I don't pray to imaginary spirits" you should have yourself checked out because of inane babbling. 4 I don't care if you don't believe. Why should I prove any god is real to you?
Actually,Abraham Lincoln didn't perform an miracles, which is more evidence that he's real. Atheist study history in a different then idiotic christians.
The World knows that Jesus is a invention deity of the Roman Catholic Church. Is a simple coverup to the Greek deity Zèus.. Jesus has the same pronunciation in Latin as in Greek. This is the Greek word for Jesus “ Iēsous; Ἰησοῦς” and this is the Latin word for Jesus “ˈdʒiːzuː IESVS” and this is the Spanish word for Jesus “Jesus” and of course you migrate the same word into English. This transliteration word is deprived from the Greek Testament found the Modern Christian Bibles and it was easily accepted as the son of god to ancient world. Now that you have spent all your time and energy in uncovering this character “Jesus,” set your minds and energy to this wonderful person named “YAHUSHUA,” from the ancient world of Isreal. You will be amazed and will not be disappointed.
The word 'amateur' is not necessarily derogatory. It only means that the author did the research out of interest for the subject instead of as a profession.
I picked up some good info from this. I still think there are a few more possibilities other than the three you named, but that is really only because the possibilities of how a myth can evolve into an organization with a cohesive story are many and probably impossible to pin down. I wish I had the time to learn the info to reach the level you have, but alas, learning history does take a village. I'm glad to find someone to listen to who can raise some good points and pull out info that can be digested in a single sitting. It is a rare thing, but you have managed. Thanks! Greatly appreciated.
@@sgloobal2025 oh yeah just read one book and make up your mind. That is incredibly ridiculous. In fact, that's exactly how we get these myths to begin with, and that is all they are. I think there is more than sufficient evidence to point towards the Christian savior as nothing more than one myth of many that were all very similar and this one happened to survive. I think that if there was any real man he wasn't even close to what the Christian myth claims. Most likely he was an amalgamation of stories about several different Jewish rebel leaders from the 1st century. That is the picture you get after having examined many books, and not just one.

God is the only one Who gives life and death. This is what Al Bakarah of the Kuran boils down too. This chapter of the Holy Book, Holy Book that states that Mohammed is the last Messenger, is headed by 3 mysterious letters: Alif Laam Meem, 3 mysterious letters only God knew the meaning. After many visions, following 3 questions Satan asked me, etc I asked God how I could be His Messenger. God replied to me in a voiceless voice that I am Alif Laam Meem. + I must be casted in a bag in the waters ate 72 years old. This will be a sign that the storms will calm down. A double rainbow should appear.
It is not the fact that there is silence, it is the *pattern* of that silence which matters. The first historical mention of Jesus came 30 years after his supposed crucifixion. An entire generation of peasants was born and died in that time. So, by the time of his first mention anybody capable of corroborating his story would have been long dead. . . it is almost as if those people were _holding back_ the spread of this story. If it were a true story, the opposite would have happened.
I think maybe there was a number of "jesus's" back then. At a time when people didn't have much science. With a lot of superstition, a jesus could fit right in.
Today, there are the“flat earther’s”. People that are sure that if a black cat crosses your path, it will give you bad luck, or that the coronavirus is just going to magically disappear (they never explain what century it will disappear). So, is it hard to understand that a few thousand years ago, there were story tellers that could peace together elaborate fiction that would be eventually written into book form that still exists and that it still has devotees as dedicated as the Area 51 conspiracies theorists? Remember last year when a Facebook post went viral after it was put up by Matty Roberts on June 27, 2019? There’s a lot of crazy people out there.
I've just been watching a programme about the history of Jerusalem on the BBC by Simon Montefiore - he is a Jewish historian (+author and TV presenter). He seemed quite content to talk about Jesus having existed and been in Jerusalem.
Even the early enemies of early Christianity gave acknowledgement to Jesus Christ as the founder of Christianity, including the apostle Paul who started out trying his best to wipe out Christianity in the first century A.D. Then he becomes Christianity's biggest supporter & goes on to write over half of the New Tesstement. This is like Adolf Hitler repenting & becoming an ultra-orthodox rabbi & founder of Isreal & Isreal's first prime-minister!!!!!
@@RonSafreed I agree Ron. There is no sensible attempt by Carrier to explain how Paul and others came to believe in Jesus, if (as Carrier says) he didn't exist in the first place.
@@RonSafreedwhat you wrote is ignorant. after Paul's tall tale he went to either Egypt or back to his home town for 9 years depending on the passage you read. the jews were busy fighting the Romans. they had bigger fish to fry than a few Jesus people. And only seven of his books are considered authentic. He made up a religion. A blood cult religion shot with pagan influences. Do some research on Marcion. Atwill. It's fiction.
@@Kinesiology411 are you one of those fans of R.Carrier? (I'm not) but he stated that all of Atwill's alleged parallels can be explained as either coincidences, mistranslations or references to OT.
Carrier doesn't "think" very well, if he doesn't even "think" the well established fact that Jesus existed. There are numerous historical facts established, beginning in the first century, which establish Jesus the Christ as, not only having existed, but other events related thereto. Some 1st century writers, who had contempt for Christianity, mentioned Jesus in a negative tone. Some mentioned facts concerning Jesus' existence, miracles, crucifixion & the simultaneous earthquake, & more. It's amazing how pseudo atheists spend so much time trying to make Jesus/ God NOT be, even though they well know God IS. Many ranting fools think that, by continually challenging Jesus/ God, they are somehow establishing an excuse for "their day", when they stand before Him & claim that God just never proved His existence, in spite of their challenges for Him to do so. I imagine, in such case, that God may merely point to millions of people, from the slow to the most brilliant, who were well satisfied with the quantity & quality of proof that God gave to ALL mankind. .
@BMore - That is ONLY what you CLAIM, due to your lack of interest in knowing God, so you resort to dishonesty, since there is no alternative to "God IS". You are merely looking for excuses that you "think" will relieve you of your duty to seek to know God, using your human mind, in "your day of judgement". You may likely claim something like: "you never showed me a clear path to know you, so I believed in Pinocchio science instead". In fact, the magnificent Creator of the millions of bits of hyper complex DNA code inside EACH cell, which is responsible for EACH species' body type & specific structure, etc, is well capable of giving His exact Word to EVERY human mind that diligently seeks to know Him & His Word. Also, the human mind is the most powerful force known to mankind, yet it is non-material (of the invisible/ spiritual realm), and holds magnificent intellect, with unlimited micro memories, thoughts, abilities, invention, knowledge, etc, ALL of which are also non material. Such is only ONE of the "invisible things of God" that scripture talks about. All that the mind can "see" through its perception and micro abilities, alone leaves you "without excuse" for denying God. Your claims fail, because they are dishonest. You purposefully self deceive, likely due to your perversions, of which all us have in the flesh, but a remnant of mankind that still pursues God & His knowledge & His free gift offer of eternal life, shall stand justified, NOT by their own earning or deserving such, but because God imputes perfect spiritual righteousness to EVERY believer, through simple faith in Jesus Christ. You deny THE God, so as to pursue your own agenda exclusively, which is why you shall be without excuse "in your day". You dismiss, out of hand, consideration & pursuance of the most important subject in life - the subject you were born to be given, which is the great privilege that you disregard & tread under foot. .
@BMore - Just plain false. You make broad statements, without lifting a finger to look into the most important issue in life - Jesus Christ, who imputes perfect righteousness to EVERY person who receives Him as their Savior. You are not seeking Him or anything about God, so you shall not find it. God is strange to the human psyche, at least until they diligently seek to know truth. There is no alternative to God & Jesus. It's not a hit & miss issue. 66 books written by 40 authors over millennia, and bible scholars who study writings of Christ from the first century on, investing their lives in it, while folks like you come along with far flung hearsay of fellow haters of God (lovers of the flesh), and you choose to believe what they say. Not brilliant at all. If you diligently sought to know the truth of God, He would lead you to it. No exceptions. He just does not deal with scoffers & mockers unless He knows they will turn to Him. Simple. Toodles. .
@BMore - You invent conjecture, as do all godless people. You claim 100,000 years that man has been on earth? Where's the proof? The writings? The failed dating systems? Anything? You and your godless scoffers just make believe you know something. Then, you trivialize bio phenomena, and spiritual phenomena (mind). Both are impossible to come about by ANY other means than a magnificent Creator. You purposefully ignore what is before your eyes, because you demand to make reality disappear. The "gradualism" conjecture of evo-illusion destroys the entire concept IMMEDIATELY, which honest scientists readily admit. The first molecule would require numerous IMMEDIATE fully functional organelles to live, thrive, & reproduce. What is your PhD in? Kindergarten? Your failed history is full of fake inventive parts & missing parts. The bible is the ONLY historical book that contains accurate history, newly confirmed historical facts every year, fulfilled prophecies, much more. Yet, you choose to lie to yourself, & ignore the reality of such, which confirms God's existence and interaction with mankind. Fulfilled prophecies of the level that bible PhDs have uncovered & recorded is unlike any other phenomena you suggest. God leads each diligent seeker of Himself & His truth to Himself, while you refer people to fake & half bake stories for your reality. My reality is recorded and confirmed by historians. I am sorry for your delusion. Oh, and where are invisible thoughts & memories stored? How does the invisible mind interact with the bio brain? How did all of the DNA lines of code that are necessary for EACH bio entity, come into existence at the same moment in time, which was necessary for even the tiniest molecule to live, thrive, reproduce? Think, instead of following conjecture, lies, & purposeful invention. .
@BMore - All humans are LIFELONG sinners, whether Christian or pagan. You deny this BASIC fact out of ignorance, yet it is the ONLY reason that Jesus Christ put on a body & died for the sins of the world, while hanging between heaven & earth, while your sins & mine were poured out on Him, to make it possible for every person who would seek to live eternal life, could do so, through simple faith in Christ. You obviously know NONE of the basics. Religion teaches "man is capable of attaining eternal life through his own good religious works", while scripture denies that such is even possible, since God only accepts perfect spirits to live with him for eternity, and perfection is imputed ONLY to those who believe on/ receive Jesus as their Savior. This is the amazing gift that you scoff at, out of the same hate that the majority feasts on. All man made religions teach some form of your error. They & you show your shallow understanding, or total lack thereof, as concerns Jesus, who is God, "without whom nothing was made that is made". Why is it that Jesus is the only person in history that is so commonly questioned as ever having lived, unlike all other major historical figures? Only fools make such a stupid claim about Jesus non existence. Like you, they make grand dishonest claims about how they have done so much research, when they haven't done a "lick" of study. "Our Image" = Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Do you mean you didn't understand that, w/ all your dense theological studies? You missed lots of facts, oh scoffer, and you create & accept an abundance of lies that you "assume are correct" or you outright lie about, because you NEED absolutes of God to "not be". 15% of the world's most brilliant geniuses KNOW that God IS, and they demanded to know more absolutes of God, and they FOUND them, because, unlike the 85%, they performed critical analysis of available facts, which are available to ALL, in this age of information. Oh dear falsifier, who ignores so much truth that stares you in the face, your hate screams aloud, as you expose your lies, inadequacies & purposeful ignorance, while you just can't seem to make absolutes of God/ Jesus' go away. .
@BMore - Don't be frightened, oh brilliant one, for, as I say, 15% of the world's most brilliant geniuses KNOW THE God, and they did a lot more research than you ever even thought of doing. They know THE God, and you don't want to know Him. So, I'll be sure to listen to your rants, okay? You don't even know your history, much less your bible. bahaaa You are delusional because you insist on trying to make God disappear, when the truth is before you. How is it that all these geniuses know THE God, and you mock Him? Wow - it's frightening! bahhaaaa Pore ole BluffMore, doesn't know if he's on foot or horseback. You must be a Sumerian that stepped in some serious dooo-dooo. bahhaaaa .
My hunch is, even if irrefutable evidence of Yeshua presented itself, then you still would reject the truth! And there is evidence that he was here, and that he was resurrected too!
And what of the origin of man? And have you studied ALL possibility and even, possibly evidence of creation and against creation in an unbiased manner? And by humbling yourself to recognize that, when looking for facts, opinions MUST BE EXCLUDED and emotions, MUST BE IGNORED, in order to reveal the truth? And I mean a diligent study that doesn't bow down at the 1st notion of opposition, either for, or against God's existence? Meaning, when archaeologists discover some biblical artifact that potentially proves the Bible to be a good historical document that is valid and trustworthy, are you going to accept that right away, without looking into it yourself? Or when they discover a Holy location that they claim, God left his signature at, but the secularists offer a possible alternative, will you diligently study, ALL, available information to help you in your pursuit of the truth? Because until then, and for the common good, you shouldn't offer an opinion unless, misinforming people isn't a big deal to you anyway! You should know that, according to the Holy Scriptures, we are held accountable for our actions! And if our actions influence or guide people away from the truth of God, and it turns out that the evidence that is for God is greater, then you might want to take my words seriously! Cause that is not a situation ANYBODY wants to face! Just saying. But for your son good, be wise enough to realize that our opinions do not determine reality! And that the trust would remain weather or not we ever lived! In wisdom, the truth is acknowledged, not decided! It is sovereign and absolute! Good luck!

I believe in the existence of Jesus as a historical figure, as this is attested by non-Christian written sources too such as the Arabic, but I agree very much with Dr Carrier's explanations that all the stories around Jesus that we know today eg. as the son of God or the crucifixion were added up and as he showed, much of the NT writings (eg. from min 31.00 onwards) were just parables at best, forgeries at worst.

I'm not a christian, but I just came here to comment on the title. It says "Why I think" and "evidence". You either have evidence and you know something to be so, or you don't have any and you believe it to be so.
That's not true at all. Often there isn't enough evidence to make a clear case and you can only speak in terms of what you think is more likely. Not being a historian myself I can't really judge the validity of his arguments but the use of the word "think" is in no way an imputation of his talk.
gogerychwyrndrobwll Indeed, use of the words "why I think" show that rather than full out attacking christianity, he is simply presenting his ideas and why he believes what he believes. He is making an effort to not offend christians and simply explain his reasoning for being aetheist. Basically, he isn't being a douche. And as a christian myself, I seek to educate myself on the facts so that when I present my argument, I'm not just pulling it out of my ass. And it is a lot easier for me to try and understand the reasoning behind aetheism when they aren't taking cheap shots at christians.
You may not be a christian but you sure as hell sound like a religious person. That is not how evidence works at all. And it's only religious people that need to say they "know" (even when they don't). Someone can say by the evidence I think point A may be true. By taking that stance you will continue to confirm or deny the point. By saying I know for sure, then there's no need to continue and/or confirm.
Since I made the crack about Smith, along with my question to follow, it may seem like I could be an theist apologist, I'm not, I'm an atheist. That being said, isn't it feasible that the Christians took the attributes of those myths and applied them to a Jesus who actually lived? I'm just looking at one leg of the chair, I'm not saying that takes down the entire argument.
We will be shown the truth in time. But as you find more and more truth there is no turning back. You can't have faith after you see him. Much respect from Terry :-)

(comment 2 of 3) *After that day, my experiences with the demons stopped abruptly for the first time since i was a child.* In the following few days, I experienced extreme changes in me that are difficult to articulate: First, I felt ‘darkness’ draining out of me. I felt changes in my heart that I didn’t understand. *My depression STOPPED.* I don’t mean slowly decreased, i mean STOPPED suddenly, after decades of suffering with it. *My desire to steal STOPPED.* After 20 years of desiring it/doing it uncontrollably. *My desire for pornography STOPPED.* 15 years of excessive porn viewing that i was an absolute prisoner of. *This was in the first few days after I started believing in Jesus, confessed my sins, and asked Him to help me.* In the following few weeks, I experienced a complete draining of the darkness I had in me for all those years. I stopped feeling angry, I didn’t hate anyone anymore. No more lonliness, no more crying. All of those horrible things I had felt EVERY DAY for as long as I can remember - unbearable lonliness and anxiety, fear, self-loathing, anger, hatred, depression, inner exhaustion, bitterness, hopelessness, apathy, despair, feeling lost all the time - all these things stopped. I began to feel a baffling peace in me that I had NEVER once felt in my whole miserable life! The constant anxiety lifted away, I stopped living in fear and had a strong sense of HOPE for the first time in my life. I felt as if a MASSIVE heaviness was lifted from my heart. *I FELT FREE.* *I started loving people!* AND, I started loving people that I once *hated!!* All these changes were so fast and overwhelming, that I didn’t know myself anymore! It was very unsettling because it happened so fast, and was so new and completely unexpected - but I knew it wasn’t a bad thing, so I just went with it. In the midst of all of this change, it took me 3 months to realize that I wasn’t even attracted to women anymore - and they had made up the majority of my porn addiction for 15 years! I now saw women normally, and felt as if I had never even had the attraction in the first place (the same goes for the depression, stealing and pornography!). *Please please* think about this for a minute. *Decades* of depression gone within days. *20 years* of compulsive stealing gone immediately. *15 years* of heavy pornography addiction gone immediately. *22 years of bisexuality, gone immediately. Do you have any idea how many years of therapy it would take to ‘cure’ even *one* of those problems??? And with NO relapses?! I took NO medications, I had NO therapy, and I’ve had NO relapses whatsoever in any of those areas since November of 2014. Just Jesus and His healing love an mercy. All of that is *impossible* if it’s not God!! That God would stretch out his hand to this sinner - MORE than once - *even after I turned my back on him when he saved me from killing myself* - that is the reality and depth of his love and mercy! I would not be here today, period, if he hadn’t done what he did to me. Jesus wasn’t kidding when He said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32) “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) Jesus is so real, and He loves you! You not believing that won’t change that reality! My friends, I plead with you, and to everyone who reads this: ***Ask GOD if he’s real! Don’t look to others for answers!***- try talking to Jesus, no matter how ‘wierd’ it feels. Try, and *persist* in trying, regardless of how you ‘feel.’ Don’t be deterred by the lack of instant gratification (although He may also answer right away). If you persist, He will 100% show Himself to you. Jesus made this *promise* to all of us who seek Him genuinely: “9 So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11 Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:9-13). Notice that He doesn’t say seek and you ‘might’ find - He says seek and you *WILL* find ❤️ Repent and turn away from your sins in your heart and cry out to Jesus for help and forgiveness. He hears *every word* with great love! Just be raw and open and honest, He already knows your heart anyways - but He wants us to use our God-given free will to be REAL with him about our sins and INVITE Him into relationship with us, so he can help us overcome and be free from sins/addictions we are in bondage to, and everything that has gone wrong in our hearts! Jesus said this: “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one- I in them and you in me-so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (John 17:20-23) *He loves us,* and *desires* to have a relationship with us!* God sent his Son (Jesus) to suffer and die for our sins because he *knows* that evil is far too powerful to overcome on our own. When God first created angels, he created them with free will (because if you love someone, you don’t hold them prisoner - you give them the ability to choose). Satan was the first to rebel against God because he wanted to *be* God. But no one can be greater than their own Creator! When God created humans, he also gave us free will. But the first human, by the influence of Satan, chose freely and willfully to disobey God, and so sin entered the world for the first time. Sin is influenced by the devil, and committed when people freely choose to commit it. God cannot have anything to do with evil/sin - the punishment of sin is death. That’s why, in his unfathomable love, God sent Jesus to die for our sins. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to SAVE the world through him.” (John 3:16-17) This made it possible for him to send his Spirit into us, so we can actively engage in a relationship with him - through Jesus Christ - who helps us, by His enabling grace, to overcome our sins. Sounds too crazy? Go back and read again what he did to me! More importantly, find out for yourself - this personal relationship with the Lord is available to ALL people who invite Him into their hearts! (continued in comment 3 of 3)
I'd like to see Dr. Carrier's review of the Joseph Attwell's Caesar's Messiah. It does a great job of mirroring the story of the Titus Flavian Caesar's battles in Galilee and the gospels. They appear to be verbatim in all accounts and both were written by Josephus.
"Atwill's Cranked-up Jesus" by R.Carrier: Joseph Atwill is one of those crank mothers I often get conflated with. Mythicists like him make the job of serious scholars like me so much harder, because people see, hear or read them and think their nonsense is what mythicists is...
I met Jesus; face to face, in 1989 when I was 28 years old. He is not a fiction but a very real person. Extremely humble man. He is deeply loved by everyone in Heaven. Yes Heaven is a very real and beautiful place also. I did not die and leave my body I was alive and awake when this happened to me.

We are all God's creation only those who He adopts become His children. Jesus is so special because He is the first born of God. Because He was born into a man and lived a perfect life and then was sacrificed and died to pay for the sins of the entire world. Because He rose again and lives forevermore to show us that eternal life is real. So special because He was obedient and did the will of the Father and gave Him the glory, honor and praise. So special because He single handedly restored our ability to go directly before God and communicate with him directly. Other than that He's just a regular guy. It's all in the Bible. You know the B.asic I.nstructions B.efore L.eaving E.arth book that God co authored will fallible man to show He is NOT fallible. 66 Books and 44 Authors Check it out sometime if you care to it's one heck of a book most widely distributed and translated book than any other in the history of the world.
Mary Sue Beth We are not god's creation, it's the other way round. Mankind created gods thousands of years ago as a way of trying to understand the world. There is no god, and Jesus (if he existed)was not his son and neither was he the son of a virgin because basic biology shows that it's impossible for a virgin to get pregnant. The bible is nonsense.
Sammy Skeptic Jesus paid the penalty for all of fallen man's sins once and for all. That's why He said on the cross just before He gave up His spirit. "It is finished". However God does require we except His free gift willingly. That is why we are told, "Whosoever believes in Jesus will be saved but whosoever believeth not is condemned already". That is also why we are not our own to do our own we have been bought and paid with by the blood of Jesus. It's kinda like say I gave you a million dollars but I didn't hand it to you directly I deposited it in a bank for you. Then I told you what bank and all you had to do was go there and give your name to get your money but you chose not to believe me. All you had to do is go to the bank and ask them for the money but instead chose not to. Does that mean you are not a millionaire? Well, yes and no. You are but if you don't access the money then your are not rich. I hope this analogy helps, by the way I didn't really give you any money it was just for an example that God has provided for everyone but not everyone knows thats what I'm doing here writing to you. You see my job is easy God aid go tell the the good news. It's not my job to make you believe in fact I can't and I don't have to. No one can come to God accept the Spirit of God draws Him. Is He drawing you? He doesn't take pleasure in the wicked perishing but we are made in His own image and so one of our traits is to be self sufficient. You see we don't want God but we need Him, He on the other hand does not need us but wants us. Born once die twice, born twice die once. It's not just a clever saying...
fred forty With man it is impossible but with God all things are possible. You are certainly entitled to your own opinion and I respect that. However this is what God has to say... "Only a fool says in his heart there is no God" I often am amazed remembering what God said to Job, "where were you when I created the foundation of the earth?" I would pose the same question to you but I know better. I just want you to think about it though. Are you by any chance one of those people that blame everything on somebody else? That hates their own life or circumstances? Did someone mistreat you that you now have a forgiveness problem? What has hardened your heart? No matter God is ready to give you a new heart if you only ask and believe. One more thought, I wonder since God is love how can those that do not know Him the author of love know how to love themselves or others?

@Homer Jay evidence is not a molecule which by itself enters your brain and changes it. You are in denial rebellion against the creator which is the god of the bible. Read this and look at the western civilization For [God does not overlook sin and] the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who in their wickedness suppress and stifle the truth, because that which is known about God is evident within them [in their inner consciousness], for God made it evident to them. For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense. For even though they knew God [as the Creator], they did not honor Him as God or give thanks [for His wondrous creation]. On the contrary, they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God for an image [worthless idols] in the shape of mortal man and birds and four-footed animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their own hearts to [sexual] impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them [abandoning them to the degrading power of sin], because [by choice] they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading and vile passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural [a function contrary to nature], and in the same way also the men turned away from the natural function of the woman and were consumed with their desire toward one another, men with men committing shameful acts and in return receiving in their own bodies the inevitable and appropriate penalty for their wrongdoing. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or consider Him worth knowing [as their Creator], God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do things which are improper and repulsive, until they were filled (permeated, saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice and mean-spiritedness. They are gossips [spreading rumors], slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors [of new forms] of evil, disobedient and disrespectful to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful [without pity]. Although they know God’s righteous decree and His judgment, that those who do such things deserve death, yet they not only do them, but they even [enthusiastically] approve and tolerate others who practice them. I could plainly see that the Ark story was just that, a story. Also I recall that the story of Abraham struck me as ridiculous.
@@HeroQuestFans That's a cute website, bless it's heart.
It would be great if it were written by someone who understood science.
@Brad Watson Don't mix science with religion.
I used ask: what language did god speak to Adam and Eve?
@Brad Watson Wrong? What did I state wrong? Can you reiterate my wrong statement because I don't know what you are referring to?
@@ericephemetherson3964On the contrary, don't mix religious delusions with science

What I've taken from all this is the following-
If you want to be accepted as a prophesied figure you'd make certain you perform the actions expected of that figure. We know that most of the 'miracles' he performed are easily reproducible parlour tricks, so it wouldn't be hard.
It never crossed my mind that he might have essentially been following a script; by doing what he was already predicted to do.

We have *LOTS* of evidence for fiction stories, and humans making up imaginary gods and demigods, and false religious claims, and gullible people believing nonsense, and *ZERO* evidence for the existence of demigods with superpowers who die and are magically resurrected. Right? Are the stories more reliable if written by anonymous, biased fanatics of a cult who worships the demigod in question? Are the stories more reliable if the earliest manuscripts were written hundreds of years after the supposed events, by scribes whose works are filled with proven forgery and fraud?

Engraved on it from the 1st century.
Ignoring the known christian forgeries like Josephus, Pliny, etc, no one of the time wrote about this amazing man who could do the impossible:
www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2776194/Jesus-never-existed-Writer-finds-no-mention-Christ-126-historical-texts-says-mythical-character.html
If you had the most important news ever, about Jesus, in uncertain times where a common disease could kill you, a criminal or war could kill you, where in old age you could have dementia, would you not get the message down straight away rather than wait half a century?

Church leaders do not have reasonable explanations, only diversions.

Why should anyone *ASSUME* , on faith, that a manuscript written by members of a human sacrifice cult (with both motive and opportunity to lie) contains a valid representation of what Tacitus wrote 1,000 years previously? If the claims of any religion are true, if they give a true picture of reality; then we should expect that objective scientific inquiry into the nature of reality aught be able to converge, independently, on the same conclusions as that religion; that is, without reference to any of the texts of the religion. If science cannot independently reach the same conclusions then why should the religion be given any credence, the only reason to believe the religion is that the religion proclaims itself to be true. The personal experiences of individual believers are not admissible as evidence because every religion has people who attest to its truth from personal experience or revelation.
this is the best circular argument I've seen.
wmthewyld A circular argument is one in which the conclusion is used as a premise; or, to put it another way, an argument that assumes what it's conclusion is. In what way have I done that?
If the truth claims of a religion are true then they should be independently verifiable. For example, if there were a group of scientists working in insolation we should expect them to make at least some of the same discoveries as other scientists.
fiveredpears this is absurd, science deals with the physical. Ask your question when spiritual science is developed.
wmthewyld Science is a systematic investigation into the way things are, it deals with what is; if there is the "spiritual" then it should be possible to investigate it in a meticulous way.
Noted evolutionist Stephen Gould wrote the following regarding Ernst Haeckel's work in a March 2000 issue of Natural History:
“ "Haeckel’s forceful, eminently comprehensible, if not always accurate, books appeared in all major languages and surely exerted more influence than the works of any other scientist, including Darwin…in convincing people throughout the world about the validity of evolution... [W]e do, I think, have the right to be both astonished and ashamed by the century of mindless recycling that has led to the persistence of these drawings in a large number, if not a majority, of modern textbooks!"
So much for accuracy in science.

Athiests are Retarded. I guess George Washington didnt exist either. Neither did Buddha.

Anarchist, wtf??

(I am obviously...not a consevative Christian)

(Psalm 91:10)… ‘No evil will befall you’ (means) that evil dreams and evil thoughts will not tempt you; ‘nor shall any plague come near your house’ (means) that you will not have a son or a disciple who burns his food like Jesus of Nazareth.” (b. Sanhedrin 103a; cf. b. Berakhot 17b)
“Our rabbis have taught that Jesus had five disciples: Matthai, Nakai, Nezer, Buni and Todah. (b. Sanhedrin 43a; the passage continues in a similar way for Nezer, Buni and Todah)
And this, perhaps the most famous of Talmudic passages about Jesus:
“It was taught: On the day before the Passover they hanged Jesus.

The only 'difference' between Jesus and MOST human BEings is that He actually KNEW who He
was...

Religion, in any incarnation, is evil, greedy, and divisive.
*****
all of the worlds religions are a contrivance of man.
How about the lunatic skeptics
I challenge any religious person to explain why the god you learned to believe in is any more real than all the other gods you never learned to believe in.
Most of us "religious" people don't care if you believe or not.
wmthewyld Of course you don't.

I have read Doherty's book and Carrier's.
Both are great, but he is not "amateur."
You don't need a PhD to be a great thinker.
You need a research degree to become professional, perhaps not a PhD but some form of formal research education is a must to rise out of amateur rank.
The word 'amateur' is not necessarily derogatory. It only means that the author did the research out of interest for the subject instead of as a profession.
@@oielvert Yeah, I took it this way too. "Amateur" in the sense of "not holding a formal degree/not pursuing it as a profession"
Yes, because Great thinkers these days get all their information from youtube videos.
Are you serious? You really believe jesus didn't exist? Have you read bart erhmans book

15% of the world's most brilliant geniuses KNOW that God IS, and they demanded to know more absolutes of God, and they FOUND them, because, unlike the 85%, they performed critical analysis of available facts, which are available to ALL, in this age of information.
Oh dear falsifier, who ignores so much truth that stares you in the face, your hate screams aloud, as you expose your lies, inadequacies & purposeful ignorance, while you just can't seem to make absolutes of God/ Jesus' go away.

*I FELT FREE.*
*I started loving people!* AND, I started loving people that I once *hated!!*
All these changes were so fast and overwhelming, that I didn’t know myself anymore!
I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32)
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Jesus is so real, and He loves you!
Notice that He doesn’t say seek and you ‘might’ find - He says seek and you *WILL* find ❤️
Repent and turn away from your sins in your heart and cry out to Jesus for help and forgiveness. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (John 17:20-23)
*He loves us,* and *desires* to have a relationship with us!*
God sent his Son (Jesus) to suffer and die for our sins because he *knows* that evil is far too powerful to overcome on our own. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to SAVE the world through him.” (John 3:16-17)
This made it possible for him to send his Spirit into us, so we can actively engage in a relationship with him - through Jesus Christ - who helps us, by His enabling grace, to overcome our sins.
Sounds too crazy? Go back and read again what he did to me! More importantly, find out for yourself - this personal relationship with the Lord is available to ALL people who invite Him into their hearts!

well, anyone into pornography would believe anything.
PS you're welcome!
PPS ..crank mythers.. (blame the spell checker!
Wow
Real or not, without a youtube channel and subs, he ain't nothin' to me.
Lmfao!
+propoetide I can not deny myself, I AM and I have a channel with subs too, lol Stop trying to prove someone else does not exist, prove to me that you exist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The burden of proof is on the one making the extraordinary claim. If you claim that a book about a talking snake and talking donkey is true, the burden of proof is on you.
propoetide there is a UA-cam channel called Jesus Christ, the roleplay is really cute and funny. He has thousands of sub's.
@@charles1matt I know this was 5 years ago, but this guy can prove he existed because they clearly typed a comment...
If we are all god's children, what makes Jesus so special?.
Mary Sue Beth
What do you mean Jesus paid for the sins of the world?
Change the title to:
"I hope that Jesus did not exist "
I'd rather believe there's a heaven than believe in this person's crap. xD
He can put together the worst case senario the worst interpretation of the evidences take the words of the bible out of context "destroy" even the old testament.
What we left with? A cruel inmoral universe where the power and deceit rules over the poor and weak everybody is for themselves. Would be So sad So pointless So miserable. .
@Homer Jay you live in an uncomfortable rebellion @nd you need to see these kind of lies all the time to keep rebelling and deny....
Why would an atheist watch this video?? :D they dont care about this... Oohhhh is the bible right again about the laws are written on their hearts? :) hope one day you will surrender and will have the real life ;)
@Homer Jay evidence is not a molecule which by itself enters your brain and changes it. You are in denial rebellion against the creator which is the god of the bible.
Read this and look at the western civilization
For [God does not overlook sin and] the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who in their wickedness suppress and stifle the truth, because that which is known about God is evident within them [in their inner consciousness], for God made it evident to them.
