From one Arthur to another, really appreciate your two hand videos and work you do on this channel. You are one of my favorite channels in all of UA-cam.
We really appreciate the comments and our new oatreon members and the videos you are sending us I will have all that are waiting for lessons back to you by tomorrow AM
Thank you so much for this video Arthur. As a newly 2hander myself i find it hard to find good video's on the 2handed style. I have been bowling 1 handed for 22 years and started to do 2 handed this season. Since i am a certified (ETBF level 2) trainer/coach myself i have the knowledge to train myself, but training someone else is so much easier than training myself, especially with something new. The 2handed style is something i get in level 3 coaching, so i haven't got to that part yet. But this is really going to help myself now i know where my timing should be, so going to video myself again next time from the side, to see where i can improve myself
that damn hop. im trying to learn a more ergonomic throw for myself and i noticed that i can be smooth or jagged in my step approach; the hop sometimes happens by accident. thanks for giving me the 3 step way to do it, so i can work more on my follow through.
hey arthur, thanks for the amazing video, we two handers are grateful for your help in improving our game. however, i would like to point out that the bowler in the video demonstration has a little bit too much head tilt, maybe help him work on keeping his head more steady?? cheers from hong kong !!
Do you think practicing the release first then going to a 1 step drill would help me develop some muscle memory to move onto the 3 step? I want to transition from my 5step one hand approach because I don’t have the strongest wrist so it’s hard for me to get the ball in the proper position so I want to go 2handed to see if that’ll help me develop some more speed, power, and carry
This actually helped a lot. Somewhere around March of 2020, my two handed bowling speed was 13mph if I try really hard. Now I can throw 17-18 mph today.
@@porkisthebestmeat8955 working out would probably be the best choice. My friend is also a 2 hander, and at first he threw only 11-14 mph max, now he can throw about 17-18 mph max since he works out almost every single day.
@@SKT3716 If I have sore arms after bowling only 3 games do I have to fix technique? I have a decent forearm it's like 12 or 13 inches around and a normal sized bicep like 15 inches.
@@porkisthebestmeat8955 That would usually go away if you keep on playing games constantly. Sore arms at first typically happen because your biceps aren't used to bowling (usually happens to me when I play bowling for the first week after not bowling for months or weeks.) If none of these apply, then you're using too much force when releasing the ball. Remember, bowling is not an activity where you would use your muscle the most. Obv, you have to use some strength in your body when bowling, but you also have to follow the gravity and physics to throw the ball right. Think of the cornhole game. We don't just chuck the beanbag to get into the hole; we underthrow the beanbag to be more accurate or think of you riding a roller coaster, when the cars go up, the gravity does the rest by going down at the end. Same with bowling, you should think of gravity by releasing the ball like you're throwing a beanbag or you're throwing a bag of potatoes underhand. Hope this helps!
How do you transition to 4 and 5 step from here ? Also is it really necessary to do a five step approach with 2 hand bowling? Lastly can you make a video on the release I find that I either make too much hook or none at all when bowling two hands. Thank you very much coach
hey arthur! Quick Question. I am a two hander myself. I generate about 450-480 Rpms. My speed is from 16-16.5 Mph. Do you think that i have enough speed for my revs or should i try to increase my speed to like 18-19 mphs? I like to keep my angles closed and play more straight because its increasing my accuracy i think.
JUST AS I WAS SEARCHING FOR BALL SPEED. NICE TIMING! btw do two handed bowlers use left hand just for stability and right still holds majority of weight or the left holds most of the weight in backswing moving all to the right arm by release?
I've been bowling 2 handed for almost 6 years. The left hand is just for stability and as a "guide", your left is essentially your "thumb". The right holds majority of the weight.
Left hand just follows and presses back, keeping the ball from falling out if your right hand in the back swing. Depending on your swing height, some go to just fingertips of the left hand pressing back on the ball at the height of the swing (and how much body lean you have), and some keep the full hand on it. You may feel some of the weight transfer, with a higher swing, but it's not a physical thing you do, and it's fast. Everyone's a little different, same as one handed. It's just finding a smooth motion that works for your body.
Hello Art of Bowling, I have a question. I have been bowling 2 handed for around 5 months and i just noticed that the arm straightens out on the backspin. How do you get your arm like that? it feels weird when i do it.
It feels different because your body is not used to the motion that weird feeling could just be what it is supposed to feel like. Id really have to see it to critique it.
Would you ever be able to make a video about 2 handed bowling and their hand positioning and ball roll?? In terms of having a more forward roll vs side roll? No videos out there that talk about it and I’ve noticed when I go more forward with my roll the ball is much more predictable and easier to read vs when I get my hand around the ball with so many revs the ball is very sensitive to anything on the lane and much harder to control. Maybe you could do a demonstration and explain a little better and I think that would help out a lot of young 2 handed bowlers to learn to get a much more forward roll
So.... looking for some expert input here. I'm 6'4" and have always used a 3 step approach. I cover a lot of ground in 3 steps. Also have a 6'7" wingspan. Generally I have to TRY to slow my balls speed. The power is there. I was whipping a 12lb plastic ball at 22mph during summer league while checking up. I'm smooth with 3 steps with my timing. Tried 5 steps recently and really the first 2 are stutter steps and nothing else. Screwing with my timing. Went back to 3 steps and it seems more natural. Anyone see a downside to an "always" 3 step for a tall guy with long legs?
I am working on a series of videos with a new two hander but he doesnt know it yet. His progression gas been good and I am documenting stsrt to finish so don't tell him.
Many two hander have the skip step. A few dont. There is no right way I teach a shoter quicker third step for people to generate more speed. The impotstant thing is to keep your head steady through the shot.
My main struggle is in my backswing I turn my body too much. Can anyone help with advice on how I can stop because I record myself bowl and I see I do a lot.
I would say one that is naturally and uses as little muscle as possible. I am pretty tall, and when i was still using 1 hand and opening up my hips and shoulder my backswing went almost straight up, but i didn't pull the ball at all, this was my natural swing. Because of doing this for years, i caused troubles in my hip mobility, so i switched to a 2hander style earlier this year, and i haven't had trouble with my hip or back any more
