    You are 100% right with the spinnerbait. I have been doing it for years. I start cranking hard right before it hits the water to get it moving right away. Monster hits pretty fast. Thanks for keeping our winters interesting.

    Literally did the grinding technique with a 6.25 Money Badger in 7' of water a few weeks ago, and they clobbered it!! They were ignoring conventional "winter" lures (wouldn't even touch a Ned). The Money Badger in rootbeer craw is, well... money :)

    Totally agree on the wacky rig/drop shot approach. I've started using a 3/8oz or 1/2oz shaky head for my drop shot weight and it has doubled, if not tripled my catches on that rig. 👍🇺🇸

      I need to understand...are u using a jig for a weight with like a trailer and all plus a dropshot hook tied up the line because that actually sounds kinda legit but have never thought of it or even know if it would really be effective but it definitely sounds cool might do it because why not lol...

    Matt, how many hard baits and jigs do you loose by snagging on average day in the tournament fishing? I stopped fishing as a co, because the boaters didn’t give a ****, of my snagged hard baits and jigs including special run, limited colors. I recall seeing a boater breaking off 5-6 deep divers in an hour, and he didn’t even try to save a single one. And we came to heated conversation when I tried to save my best lures I was using to catch fish.

    In western Washington the fish seem to only bite the cranks on the grind. If they can see it they won't hit it cause the water is so clear and there's not much competition for the bass up here. Kings of the lake most of the time

      @MattStefanFishing I wonder if it's the way it have them stored or if it's just terrible luck. Because they produce and I really do like them. My favorite spinner bait is the old Stanley wedge, and they I believe have been discontinued. Thanks for the reply Matt, best of luck in your upcoming tournament season.

    In 2023 the 8-10 xd type of crankbaits got a lot of big bass for me and people fishing with me... in 2024 it did not.... I think part of that was due to the lakes I was fishing too. The hair jig was a big big big bait for quality to big bites this last summer for met on multiple lakes

      Try the duel hardcore deep divers (6 and 7). They are just as "magnum" but a little more streamlined. GREAT crankbaits and a better price too. Honestly I think they are just way more premium and a better price. Try a 6 and a 7! I have more pending for my next TW order.

      Hey Coach, I had better luck with the 5/6 XD in '24 but only got maybe a half dozen tourny keepers on the hair jigs through the whole year. Honestly, though, I was only using the more "economical" hair jigs and I think that may have been a genuine factor. 👍🇺🇸

    • @TheFishingCoach
      @TheFishingCoach 14 днів тому

      @@AaronKellerFishing I have thrown a variety. The last year for post spawn through fall I threw the true bass shuttlecoack / Cumberland pro hair jigs. For winter I have thrown smaller ones that were homemade previously but I like to experiment with bigger hair jigs

    I'm on board with the pros who say big spinnerbaits slowrolling is best for big fish. However, I do not throw traditional spinnerbaits. I built the best. Yes, we only do Fat Free bc the only way is to hit the bottom. No need for shallow cranks. This is the simplifying part. I don't know why this is hard for people to understand. Also, this is why shore fishing is best, namely in Commiefornia. Wacky? Too slow. Works well in the shallow, esp. fish bait....but eh, they say I'm an elite onto miself. Yall have no clue.
