My little piggy would climb right over those walls and door!! Lol! Super adorable home for them though, i would just have to make taller walls for mine.
thank you so much! i have always wanted my pigs - buttons and waffles, to have a really nice big cage and thanks to your video my dad might help me build it! :)
so good...just one question...what is the exact length and what size do you recommend min for 5 guinea pigs.. also, I was just wondering...what are the sizes and lengths of your plexiglass? I love your videos...the guinea pigs are gorgeous and super cute. thanks!!
Nice video, great job constructing your own palace for the piggies. They must have been reassured to get the same gate, although maybe it smelled different at first ( since you sanded (?) the chewed spots. I'm going to take another look at the image of them in their temporary " hotel" in the kitchen while you were working on their new cage.
You can also take 100% pure silicone caulk, thin it with mineral spirits, and paint it in fabric )like a bed sheet) Once dry it’s a great waterproof liner and I can even manipulate and shape them before they cure!! Also always check the scrap/discount pile at Home Depot before purchasing full price lumber. The furring strips and even osb can be out there and is 70% off I’m building a mezzanine and this video is so helpful!!
That famous gate will be valuable someday as "that gate from Little Adventures" contained in a display case. Located at the UA-cam depositary of original and rare artifacts dept.
My guinea pig palace has 3mm channels in the boards into which the plexiglas windows are set, as you described. The base with these is complete, but the project is still a work in progress. They are 13mm deep, cut with a table saw. And the acrylic goes about 10mm into each slot, leaving 6mm left to right and 6mm top to bottom for potential mismeasurement, seasonal expansion/contraction of the wood, and stress from the weight of the structure. The base of the structure is 240cm x 240cm, and the top floor is 60cm x 240cm. Thusfar only the base and posts are built. I’d like to have it finished by Spring. I’ve been recording the project (called Château de Fluffy) and uploading it-my first adventure into YouTubing.
Hi - this is so cute! Could you tell me please, which measurement the little gate has? And do you think, that the height of the plexiglass of 25 cm would be big enough? We would like to build a similar cage for some new guinea pigs and I’m not sure, how large the size should be, so that the Guinea pigs will not jump over it. 😅 (ich habe im Video, gehört, dass ihr deutsch miteinander sprecht? Viele Grüße aus München! 😄👍🌻🍺🥨) Kind regards🙋♀️
Hi. I'm off to lumber store to make a cage like yours. What wood did you use from lumber store? I didn't find in other comments where you got your plexiglass and metal channels to hold them. I would love that info too. I'm in USA. Thnk you for help and video.
do you think i could build the plexiglass walls around the whole thing? I was maybe planning on it but i wasn’t sure if it would affect the cage or the guinea pigs.
beautiful your project Your guinea pigs are beautiful You are missing a Peruvian guinea pig from the long place Here in Brazil it costs 10 dollars There are a lot of guinea pig breeders here
So I just started watching your videos but we’ve had two guinea pigs for a couple years. I’ve noticed that you’ve stopped using the GuineaDad liners and instead just use the IKEA bathmats and kiln dried pine shavings. Is there a reason for that? I know you got your first one for Gatsby. We have one of the bathmats in our cage along with washable incontinence pads and paper for their kitchen area. I’m going to switch to the kiln dried pine shavings with dust extracted because I hate the smell of wet paper but I’m wondering about the fleece liners. I’ve been contemplating purchasing the Guineadad liners for over a year now but I haven’t been able to justify the cost.
Personally, the Guinea Dad liners are absolute life savers for me. I hate using regular fleece. I feel it’s a big hassle to clean. I’m back down to 3 pigs from 5 (recently lost one to heart disease and one to very aggressive cancer). Even with a smaller herd, the GD liners make daily cleanings so much easier. I just usher the pigs into the upper level, funnel all the poops and hay to the center, suck it up with a shop vac or do a little sweep, depending. Then herd them back downstairs to do the top. It takes me 5 minutes. The liners are sturdy enough that they don’t get sucked up into the vacuum and they wick moisture very well. The nearly waterproof undersides are a godsend. They always lie perfectly flat in the cage. Pigs tend to not want to try burrowing under them. Full cage changes are SO much easier. The only big downside is the dry time when you wash them. But once you have a couple to cycle through, that doesn’t become as much of an issue. They are rather pricey, but I am very willing to pay the price for convenience, personally. (And all my girls absolutely love running on them and hiding in the pockets :) )
Quick question! This would be so very helpful to me. I've been looking for safe timber boards for my guinea pigs everywhere, do you know where I could find them? My little one, Biscuit, love chewing on anything he sees, even the cage and cage liners, so I wanted to find a safe option for him. Thank you so much for this video! Biscuit is quite the acrobat and loves exploring, which is currently bothering my other one (oops).
Just a suggestion, that bedding will get all over their carpet so an easy way to clean is getting a very small handheld vacuum to suck it all up then dump it back into the bedding side of their habitat
I think my Guinea pig is dead killed by a friends dog Edit: My Guinea pig has sadly passed away, she was my only Guinea pig and I’m still very upset. But, I now have saved two beautiful female babies from a pet store. I will upload pictures of them once there not scared. I have Clover and one that hasn’t been named yet.
Please remember that when buying a pet from a pet store you are opening up more space for more terribly bred animals to come in which is why you should always adopt and not shop :) So sorry about your piggie though and still congrats on the new additions (I’m not hating on your or anything, you can’t do anything about it as you already got them but this is just for maybe next time you want another pet 😊)
@@ThatAnimalHouse Just a little update, I adopted Clover and Mocha from a pet store. Mocha was blind in one eye and partially deaf, two months ago Mocha passed away after having a seizure, she had many health issues throughout her life, and she was very special needs. She was the goofiest little piggy and always cheered me up, Clover protected her and helped guide her so that Mocha would eat and drink plenty of water. Me and Clover are lost without her, the cage looks so empty, and everything is quiet. Potato was nearly one year old when she passed, Mocha was just a few months away from being two. I will never get anything from a pet store again. If Clover passes away soon, I will be done with owning guinea pigs, I don't deserve them.
Thank you!! I’ve been needing this so much my guinea pigs are in a poorly built wooden cage (it’s massive dw) and I think it needs more decorations!!
You are both very talented to be able to make a cage so well. Your piggies have a great life!
Excellent skills in construction of the cage. Piggies must be grateful.
The editing was so good and clear!! I love this cage so much!!
