    This is soon my bucket list. Everytime I watch this I just want to do this beside a fire place and with a cup of hot cocoa.

    Love the idea of a genuine silk lining in wild patterns and colours. So many jackets have boring polyester linings

    Thank you for posting this! I always wondered about the quilted linings and this was very informative!

    The garments looks so couture with the lining quilted. I love a tailored look. No one would ever know you sewed the garment itself. I admire and appreciate your sewing lessons soooo much. Thank you for sharing.

    I live in the north country and love sewing warm coats, parkas and neckwear. Your innovative methods are my inspirations on keeping my young family warm. Thank you. Has this been accomplished using wool?

    • @AngelaWolf
      @AngelaWolf  3 роки тому +1

      You can use a wool fabric for this, but it would need to be a tweed or you would see the stitching.

    My pattern has a dart in the front piece, do I sew the dart first then do the quilting on the lining? Do I sew the dart in both the lining and the fabric or just in the fashion fabric?

    Where do you source your fabrics? I am really struggling to get my hands on some boucle

      Linton Tweeds U.K. original source for Chanel manufacture I believe.

    I know this is an old video but I'm hoping you see my question: can I do this sort of quilted lining on any type of fabric? Does the boucle work only because of the texture? I have a pink plaid that I want to make a Chanel style jacket out of and I want to make it with all the bells and whistles of a real Chanel jacket if I can. (We'll see lol) - The issue is that it's not boucle, it's almost like a felted wool. (It was gifted to me, I don't know what exactly it is.) Could I actually do a quilted lining? How do I decide? Please help me! Thank you!

    • @AngelaWolf
      @AngelaWolf  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Amelia, you need a tweed or boucle that the thread will hide when you do the quilting. Hope that helps

    • @aimster2084
      @aimster2084 3 роки тому

      @@AngelaWolf thank you, I did the quilting in a matching pink thread along the boldest stripe of the plaid and it hid very well. Good enough for me anyway. Thanks again!

  • @kmariejs
    @kmariejs 6 років тому

    Are you using a regular all-purpose polyester thread for the quilting?

    • @AngelaWolf
      @AngelaWolf  6 років тому

      Silk thread is my favorite for this - but you can use all purpose poly thread too

    What type of batting do you use.for the jacket

    • @buzoff4642
      @buzoff4642 5 років тому

      There is no batting. It's "quilted" as in attached to all of the surface, as opposed to the usual tacked at seam points type of linking.

    Camera work needs more close-up. This is difficult work, everything must be sewn, even the selvedges..

    Why not just stitch in the ditch the seam? Rather hand stitch.

    Couture is the art of hand sewing. If you have seen the inside of a chanel jacket, you would know that the quilting is sewn by hand. So sorry, but it is irritating to find someone stating that it is a piece of couture, because it is not.

    • @AngelaWolf
      @AngelaWolf  5 років тому +1

      I call my quilted jackets a touch of couture because I use the machine to quilt the lining, then I sew the jacket together by machine (not couture obviously) and then hand stitch the lining to the jacket and hand stitch the trim - there is the 'touch of couture'

    • @janettechapple6542
      @janettechapple6542 4 роки тому +1

      A jacket from a Chanel boutique is different to a Haute Couture Chanel jacket. No quilting at all. The lining is bagged, not hand sewn but it is still Chanel. It is acceptable to machine stitch the lining to the fabric, as taught by Susan Khalje and Clair Schaefer. If you want to hand quilt your lining then do so, but don’t be rude about other techniques.
