This car was way ahead of its time. I had it. With an LS, it should be amazing. The suspension was super stable. I had mine near its top speed with its intercooled turbo 4 and it was so stable at top speed it was amazing. Independent rear. It was very nice and very modern for the time.
I remember those cars, I didn't have a job that paid well enough to allow me the opportunity to afford one. I always wanted a Conquest TSI.

A true car nut knows what that car is, badge or no badge. I give you credit that nothing but the V8 exhaust note tells you it is not a stock Starion. Otherwise you can't tell what is under the hood. Good job! I hope you will show us a drive video soon, with NO music. Car makes its own tune.
Wow! The paint alone is doing it for me. This is the nicest looking Mitsubishi Station I have ever seen. Also, the LS1 engine with the T-56 transmission are two of the best swaps for this car.

Beautiful car. Looks amazing. I have an 87 too. Was rebuilding the 4 cylinder but I think the better option is the LS1. I have an LS1 RX7 and i love it. Very reliable. Will look at your other videos to see the build.

I put 6x9 speakers in the hatch on the cargo cover and made the bass way better and didn't take up much room. Love that you got the newer steering wheel and seats.

I had a black 87 Starion that I bought crashed up and rebuilt back in 1991.. Loved that car and had it for 3 years before it was stolen.

Just want to let you know the 88 89 rear ends is like twice as strong as the rest of them. The 8889 6 bolt axles and rear end can hold about 800 lb feet of torque. Same year transmissions about 600.

Dad bought one wide in 1989. It was a seriously badass car. And then we had the movie. Cannonball run. Where they had a printer going in the car. Hahaha. It was the future then. He beat a supra and a 944 and a Vette. All were 1988 against his early 1989 station.

That is exponentially better than factory, great looking finish too! The stock stereo was garbage, The stock turbo tended to die 40,000-50,000 miles.

I wish I could give you a true estimate. It is A LOT of work doing an LS swap. I was fortunate enough to buy it while it was basically a finished project that needed mechanical work. The paint and engine swap was done prior to me purchasing it. The interior needs to be stripped and the transmission tunnel cut out, heightened and widened to accommodate the T-56. I've heard that factory automatic cars have a wider trans tunnel, so the modification to the trans tunnel may not be necessary. But with a factory 5 speed car to a 6 speed swap, it will require some fab work. The car was fabbed up before the repaint. A quality repaint is going to be EXPENSIVE. I'd say the paint job alone on this car was at least $7k minimum. The fab work, if you can do it on your own would probably save you a couple hundred bucks (if you do all the prep and just let someone weld it together for you). The engine swap depends. This car had a true LS1 and T-56. An LS1 still fetches around $2k minimum today and a T-56 in that same price range.
The previous owner also sourced out the rare 83 hood and tail lights. I'm sure they cost a pretty penny along with the SHP wheels. The steering rack needs to be deleted and a custom hydraulic steering rack in it's place. This car used a Dodge Shadow rack. Nowadays you could probably do an electric steering kit with a Volvo pump that a lot of drift cars are using nowadays. Custom fab work will be needed once again for the motor mounts. The wiring harness can be tied into the existing body harness to retain factory gauges, but a Holly terminator can make the install much easier or another standalone system.
A custom driveshaft will be needed but you can use the factory rear diff. They're actually pretty strong. You'll need a good radiator and electric fan setup as well.
If you already have a donor car, I'd say MINIMUM $10k of work involved. That is if you can do most of the fab work yourself and SCORE some awesome junkyard deals. Otherwise I'd shoot north of $20k for a good paint job, good swap, and good fab work... If not more.
A 2JZ swap is actually an easier swap. Or even a 1JZ to save a little extra money as far as swaps go!

What exactly are you doing for paint correction and ceramic coating products your using? And I would not tint this beauty!
Products and equipment I use:
Griots 6in and 3in DA polishers.
Paint correction is only a two-stage with this car. It got the majority of micro scratches out, but the car still had buffer trails on it when I bought it, so that's mainly what I was correcting it for. Compound was Meguairs 110 with Lake Country/Griots orange correcting pads and finishing polish was Meguairs 210 with Griots finishing pads. Ceramic coating is Adam's graphene.

Listen bro it's not right putting an LS engine and this car a lot of people like to put Ford small also and 2 JZ fast and furious engines. I have three of these cars. What makes 450 horsepower with the original engine, the other makes 1200 horsepower with a 3.8 l Mitsubishi myvac twin turbo, and the other I'm putting in the only V8 Mitsubishi ever made the 8a80. Cool car but I wish people would just keep Mitsubishi in keep the Mitsubishi
