This 67-year-old grandma loves the chickens! I learned to crochet in the 70s. It's a skill you will always have. I think a pumpkin would be a great project. And a beautiful shawl/wrap would be awesome for going out evenings with your friends next summer!❤
I‘m 24 and still have so many stuffed animals sitting on my bed that I crocheted when I was in the beginning of my teens. Monkeys, elephants, teddy bears, rabbits, I love them all and I still remember spending hours and hours in total silence in my room, crocheting, counting stitches and rows and being so happy with the results. I had one crochet hook, a paper clip to mark my stitches, some stuffing, a needle and cheap yarn I bought at some store. By far the cheapest hobby I had that gave me the most joy.
I love crochet❤❤❤ It's how my husband and I met !! It is so fun we have a large cabinet full of yarn floor to ceiling!! I think your next project show be a blanket or a shawl.
Blankets take a really long time...I would not recommend that for an early project. I would recommend trying a hat or earwarmer (just make sure you measure your gauge!) since they work up quick, but can still be a challenge at first. Or a Christmas tree skirt. It's a smaller version of a blanket haha
The chickens are so fun! I would recommend to crochet coasters, those are lots of fun and easy projects as well if you want to stay in the small project realm for a little while hehe
I think you’ll definitely love to crochet a pumpkin😊 I did some: one big(almost like a pillow) and some small. And try to make pumpkin coaster. There are so many tutorials on YT. My advice - while you learn try not to do some big projects as a blanket, it takes time. Small projects are more stressless❤ Ps: love your blogs)😚
The first few things I crocheted for myself were coasters and placemats, but my FAVORITE early project is this gorgeous teal book/notebook sleeve I made. I didn't even use a pattern, i just made it up as I went, and it turned out SOOOO beautiful. I chained the width of the book, then crocheted in the round, using single crochet for the base and top edge and half double crochet for the main body. Super satisfying.
I Become obsessed with crochet and Amigurumi .. I got all the stuff needed and and bought a course on Domestika but always stop and it got in my head that it's too hard and then I see you and your attitude and your success and RESULT. got inspired back. thank you! waiting to get to the therapeutic part :)
You have to try the avo toast with pesto on it- it’s such a game changer with some feta on top! I learned the recipe from working in a cafe in Australia and I have never gone back!!!!
Well, if you can already crochet in the round, an earwarmer or a hat could be fun and useful. I made my sister an earwarmer with a big crocheted flower which came out very cute. (I had a hard time with it because of having to learn to crochet in the round, but clearly you're already good at that.)
Great job with the chicken! Cannot wait to see the fluffy version😁 Maybe you can make a throw pillow using 9 granny squares on each side for your next project. There are so many cool designs for the squares and it’s nice to work on something small squares. Once you have all 18, you just stitch them all together and put a pillow insert inside. Plus you get to pick a design that will go with your “vide” for fall/winter! UA-cam tutorials will be your best friend! Especially as you are still getting used to the stitches - much easier than trying to read a written pattern.
Great job on learning how to chrochet. Due to several reasons I stopped crocheting and dumped everything in my shed.. The size difference can also happen due to tension on your yarn.
So for crochet ideas: I saw a video of someone who made a crochet pizza, with crochet toppings and extra slices. Edit: or one of those Christmas tree skirt things for the floor
Great job on the chicken! Lookup how to make snowflakes. Magic circle and lots of single chains. With thin crochet cording, they will be super delicate and make an awesome garland or ornaments! Hope you have a great week! 😊
I'd say the ghost pizza turned out very good, looked delicious! I always love when you take us along when you are making meals! As a college student living alone, I struggle with cooking for myself because recipes always make so many portions and leftovers aren't my favorite.
Love the chickens and the fact you started this on my birthday!! I’m a cross stitching girl and it always makes me proud to see how they grow while I’m working on them and to see the finished product at the end!! Recently finished one for my best friend’s daughter!! 🥰🥰
I got into crocheting when I was pregnant! I was trying to make a mobile for my son. I got one Rhino done and then lost motivation. I love these chickens!! I am planning on going to Portugal this December, any recommendations?
I only started with a blanket first because I found a THICK yarn on sale bought it and am making a THICK blanket. It’s going to be so comfy once it’s done. I also have patterns for some chickens too, also Penguins, snowmen, and a few others. I can’t wait to start one of those. Also what video did you use to learn the magic circle. I can’t find a video that it makes sense to me and I started a chicken a few weeks ago as it’s currently to hot to work on the blanket as it lays on my lap. But the magic circle I can’t figure out. I get lost about 2 stitches in.
I love your chicken! I've been crocheting and knitting for many years now, it's a fabulous hobby ❤️ If you haven't yet fallen down the rabbit hole of patterns, check out ravelry. There are hundreds of thousands of paid and free patterns, and you can create project pages for your projects to keep track of what pattern and yarn and hooks you're using for each one, along with when you start and finish. Also look into ergonomic hooks. There are tons of options, but they really extend the time you can crochet without hand pain.
If Caitlin's description still sounds like too much of an investment: usually you pick a hook to fit the yarn you're working with - so if you work with only one type of yarn, or two of the same just in different colours, you won't need to buy more than one hook for a project. Stitchmarkers ARE very useful but not a necessary purchase - some colourful scrap yarn, a paperclip or a safety pin will do in pinch! And there are thousands of free patterns out there so there's no need to pay for them if you don't want to or can't afford it.
@ComplicatedKnots @SkeinSpider are my favorite youtube channels for crochet amigurumi. @TheCrochetCrowd is the best overall crochet youtube channel out there.

I totally see you crocheting fall decor!!! Pumpkins, ghosts, spider web, spider... even fall scarf or hat! Small projects for each season !! ❤🍁

As a long-time crocheter and knitter, I'm always so happy to see other people fall in love with it too! The chickens are SO CUTE!

I feel like for your crocheting you would enjoy Wobbles. They have all different animals and for Halloween they have a glow in the dark one😮
So for crochet ideas: I saw a video of someone who made a crochet pizza, with crochet toppings and extra slices.

Look into Woobles for practicing crocheting! They’re adorable animal crochet kits that are so fun and great to learn from :)
I did not know Nicole from Healthnut Nutrition was your cousin! Love both of your channels 🥰

You killed it with the chicken! Love him 😮🥰
Yay! Welcome to the crochet family! 😍😍😍 I’m loving seeing all these people taking an interest in crochet 😍😍😍
I'm highkey jealous of anyone that can crochet... it is the one thing I want to do but am not good at
Great work! I just got done with having Covid for the first time. That was rough! Glad you’re feeling better. ❤

What is the shirt at the beginning of this video?? I need new basics 😅

Do some eggs and baskets for them
Caitlin, the chickens are cute but, what are you doing to do with them?
Maybe a basket of little animals she makes? That'll be a cute decor piece in my opinion.
🐓 ❤
Kills me you do your avocados like that! You must leave half the flesh in the shell!
