    Buildzoid installed a 7950x on an air cooler and did a slight oc. He then used a aio and pushed the 7950x slightly more, this is one of the best boards of the b tier chipset, it has insane features for the price. As long as u use one gen 5 nvme on this board and don't install the second gen 5 nvme drive, and fill all the gen 4 nvme slots and every usb port, and every type c port the top pcie slot will run at x16 gen 5 and so will the second one. It will only drop to gen 5 x8 if u occupy both gen 5 nvme drives.

    • @FPP_Tech
      @FPP_Tech  Рік тому +10

      I haven't dug in and looked, but I'd guess that is one of, if not the only "b series" with enough lanes to do that. And honestly, whose going to be using 2 Gen 5 nvme anyway? I've advocated in a lot of videos, even when they become common, it's still a waste. I mean, you can get the new Aorus for the low low price of $350 for 2TB. Or, just get a Gen 4 drive, for less than half. I work with massive video files & doubt I would notice a real world difference between 7k Mb/s & 10k. I appreciate you taking the time to post all that. It will definitely help someone out. Thanks again for contributing to the discussion!

    Went with the B650E-E because it is basically future proof. As much as you can be at least. The massive power delivery means that even if future generations of AM5 are power hungry, it will still have the power to be able to run and overclock those chips. Gen 5 on storage and for the GPU means that future generations of GPUs can plug in and run at those speeds. The only thing holding it back would be RAM. But testing has shown that being limited to 6400mts is not a big deal since latency seems to have a much greater effect on performance than overall speeds. So in the future, sure Intel may eventually be running 8000 CL 32, but taking that and clocking it down to 6000 CL 24 will likely perform just as good and could potentially be even faster if you are able to tighten it down to 22.
    I plan on using this board for my 7950x until we get to whatever the last generation of CPU for AM5 is and upgrading at that point. That should be good for many years to come.

    • @FPP_Tech
      @FPP_Tech  Рік тому +7

      Agreed. I use the x670E-A in my main rig, but that's because I went with a white build. We put the b650e-e in our test bench so I can run a OC'd 7950x in it. To your point on ram, I just switched from g.skill trident 6000 cl36 to the same kit in cl30 and saw a small, but noticeable performance gain (It's also SK Hynix in the cl30, I believe). I had the same long term thoughts as you. Get a board that can handle the top chip 2 generations in the future so I can stretch the life of the build replacing as little as possible. If you are using a 7950x, I did a quick tuning video a few weeks back on it if you want to check it out. Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/WBsyWhGQmjY/v-deo.html

    Asus rog strix b650e-e & Ryzen 7800x3d

    • @FPP_Tech
      @FPP_Tech  Рік тому +4

      The issue is related to SOC voltage is mostly resolved as of the latest bios version. Unfortunately, there are still a couple of bugs in the newest update that may prevent you from enabling expo memory timings (it's hit or miss), however those are anticipated to be fixed by the end of the week. Also, it was much more prevalent in x670e boards, the B650 series seemed to do much better.
      I think you're fine to build. Just make sure you update BIOS, & chipset drivers.

    Hi mate. Ive been thinking of a new top tier pc with good future upgradability.. the idea is to have a 7800x3d, 7900xtx and 32gb of ddr5 6000 CL30 ram. The PSU ive seen the pure power 12m 1000w as its pcie5/atx3.0 compatible, and then put it all with the strix b650e e board for the two pcie5 slots, am5 platform etc.
    Do you think that motherboard is a good choice? I feel like it would handle all of those components now, as well as the last tier of AM5 cpu and the gpus that are out at that time whether theyre pcie5 or not. But there are so many more expensive x670e boards that i worry im missing a flaw with the 650E E

    • @FPP_Tech
      @FPP_Tech  Рік тому +2

      Yes. I think it'd be a great fit. The biggest question mark would be Ryzen 9000 / 10000 (whatever ends up being the last generation on am5). However, the power delivery on this board is great. I don't see anything needing more than what it can give. It's a really solid board at a mid tier price point.
      Side note: we're currently working on a "Does Motherboard even matter" video. We stressed tested a bunch of AM5 Boards with a 7950x with identical setups. The B650e-e was right there with x670e boards in vrm temps, benchmarks, and stability.

    I bought this after returning the Asus b650, plus the UK retailer gave me an OEM board that could not be bios updated.
    This board was purchased for the next CPU releases, I prefer 65w variants
    because AM5 is great with these, so far, I have the 7900 that easily hits the negative 30 PBO Enhancement mode. Stock cooler is ace with both ASUS boards but the pre-applied heat sink is terribly got a healthy amount of cooler master gel V2 on, and it's great.
    Also got the 6750XT Asus Dual, not a hard gamer so ample for me also got a Crucial T700 1 TB and boy its fast in this system, so performance with PBO enabled CPU-Z around 12800 passmark 11.0 56k plus so high they won't register the score.
    6750XT used to score 21k on passmark with the very good Ryzen 4650G it now hits 27,000 -28.4k memory is 2x16gb 6000 MHz Kingston fury beast RGB ram total power when really hitting it hard no more than 400w, the B650 PLUS was great as well but for only 35% more this 650e-e was a no brainier its RGB is great too says this 61-year-old system builder!

      The E-E is definitely the better of the 2 boards, but it is overkill for most builds. The build quality is virtually the same, & the E adds extra pcie5 support, but in reality you're not going to see the benefit of that unless you plan on dropping boatloads of money on 2 Gen5 m.2's. The biggest difference is in the power. I'd say if you're going with a 7950x / 7900x, I lean towards the E-E. If you're using anything else, the E-F is the better value. Even if you do use a 7950x, you'll still be OK with the F. That being said, if the $40 isn't breaking your budget, nothing wrong with future proofing. That's insane. Did the 1st 2 have the same issue, or was it something different each time?

      @@FPP_Tech First was some sort of secure boot issue so never even made it to installing windows even after updating bios, the second just started having random reboots and windows errors, and it was the only component that was left. It seemed to happen more frequently after a bios update 1222 or something like that and wouldn't let me go back or update to another bios.

      @@Planet2A that sucks to hear. Asus is my go to right now for Motherboards. I do know they had a lot of bios issues trying to update for the X3d chips. Something probably got messed up. I just got a 7950x3d to test, but now I'm holding off until I get confirmation it's fixed.

      Actually got my board back from ASUS minus the m2-3 heatsink-cover, and with an oily residue on the board. Once I confirm it will post, I'm selling it and getting a gigabyte board, between the boards and the customer service I'm done with ASUS

    What Board do you recommend for a ryzen 7950x3d and 4070/4070ti ?

    • @FPP_Tech
      @FPP_Tech  Рік тому +2

      It depends on if you're looking for a budget board good enough for that combo, or something with some future proofing built in.
      On the "good enough" side, the MSI Pro X670p is a great value, but a little limited if you want to start thinking next gen.
      Asus B650e-e, & gigabyte B650 Aorus Pro AX are solid mid tier boards that also have a great vrm, & Gen 5 m.2 slots. The prices are starting to come down there, so it's worth considering.
      On the higher end, MSI x670e carbon or Asus x670e-e are amazing boards. Anything above that has a lot of "cool" factor stuff that doesn't really add value. Also, don't sleep on ASROCK boards. They've really stepped up the game.

    • @FPP_Tech
      @FPP_Tech  Рік тому +1

      @@articz8747 If budget allows, the ASUS B650e-e is the better board. The gigabyte is $100usd cheaper & still a solid choice. Prioritize your GPU over the board if budget is a concern. Try to pair it with ddr5 6000 & a good Gen 4 NVME m.2 to get the most out of your cpu. 7950x3d / 4070ti is a beast of a machine.

      Keep the date in mind. This vid was over a year ago before the a620's & many of the B650's. We looked at this, the ASUS B650-a, aorus pro & Tomahawk B650's as "budget" options compared to x670e boards. Now, there are tons of great lower cost options. Fwiw, I'd still recommend the B650e-e as the best "mid-tier" option.

      Nice! 270 is a great price for this. It's usually in the $330ish range. Definitely not the cheapest board our there, but great blend of price & features compared to most of the x670e lineup.
      Good luck with your build! Always fun doing it with the family.
