I wouldn't say underrated. It's critically acclaimed. The problem is that it's massively overlooked. It deserves a collection on Steam, where point and click works perfectly.
Well it's just not for everyone. Ace Attorney = quest + visual novel. Quests popularity ended like in early 2000s and as for visual novels... they are kinda too weird for an average western gamer.
Nah, I think AAI2 is the best for me even though its a spin-off. At least i enjoy every 5 cases. I absolutely hate the 3rd case in T & T ruling out a perfect 5 case enjoyment. Other than that, T & T has the best story-arc in PW games.
When I got to the honorable mentions, I paused the video to try and guess what #1 would be. I almost immediately decided on Bridge To the Turnabout. Predictable, yes, but it was a great ending to the original trilogy. It having all three main prosecutors (Edgeworth, Franziska and Godot) in it is definitely a pro as well.
Farewell, My Turnabout is better as a stand alone case. Everything from the characters to the tension it makes you feel it's just too good. But I think Bridge to the Turnabout it's better since it puts an end to a lot of stuff going on the series until that point (plus, it shows the real man behind Godot's mask, which is awesome)
Exactly! Without the build up to it, BttT would be a good, but not amazing case. However that it caps off such a perfect build up and answers all the questions is what makes it so good. Not to mention how it wraps up the initial trilogy so well. The overarching storyline is also what makes T&T one of the most popular games of the series, and lack of which makes JFA the most disliked game (including the mistake that is Turnabout Big-Top). The only saving grace for JFA is that it's final case is the best standalone case in the final game and probably the 2nd best case overall.
My Comments on the comments about Turnabout Big Top. 1. Yes, there were some shitty jumps in reasoning in the gameplay. 2. Yes, the characters were a bit lame and corny. 3. But man, when you understand why Acro did it, you reach one of the highest emotional peaks of the entire series!

OBJECTION!!! As much as I love Bridge to the Turnabout, Farewell My Turnabout had more emotional weight to it. The key is that FMT makes a statement as to what is ultimately most important in a court of law, finding out the truth. Maya was willing to sacrifice herself for the truth, but you as Wright are just torn up inside. Edgeworth also proves himself your best friend as he fights so hard to help you stall for time. BTT is a great culmination to a better game but the defense argues it is only so great because it webs off the context of the rest of the game's cases. You want justice after Turnabout Beginnings and you grow to Like Godot because of his past. FMT is the better standalone case!
I loved how cocky Matt was! He had every right to feel like he had you. Maya's life hung in the balence and you were being forced to secure an acquital. It felt so wierd yet cool to have to falsely accuse someone of murder and figure out what evidence could you use to cast suspicion on an innocent party.

+Tye the Monado Boy I feel Shelly was supposed to feel like the smarter one. After all, he is the assassin. Matt gave off that attitude of I'm superior to all of you which made me feel so conflicted, the exact point of the case. I wanted Matt to be caught because he is such a jerk, but after being accused of murder twice I just felt like, "No, I can't lose Maya, after all we've been through!" I don't believe the twist is the strongest element of the case. The strongest thing the case does is it forces you into a lose, lose situation where you have to desperately fight a battle you don't believe in while hoping for a miracle. BTT is the best traditional case, completing the singularly best game with the best overall story but it was not the case itself that hooked me, it was the build up to the emotional payoff. FMT is not only highly emotional for me, but it is the only case that forces the player to think non-conventionally. I just really enjoy the discussion and am not mad if someone doesn't agree with my opinion.

I liked it. I liked the music. I liked the culprit. I liked that he regretted and submitted himself to the court which made it sadder. I liked it a lot.
SpriteCeption I loved the case. It made sense for everyone to act like an idiot because they were circus performers. The culprit was likable and the Regina learned something after everything.
It was a horrible case. The characters were mostly unlikable and trying too hard to be funny, the story felt like it was crammed together at the last moment and it was incredibly boring especially compared to other cases. Each to their own though.

I absolutely loved The Stolen Turnabout! Luke Atmey was extremely entertaining and I loved that they played with double jeopardy. So glad it made it on the list!

There was zero chance this list was ever going to end in anything other than Bridge to the Turnabout. An epic case that touched on many aspects of the trilogy, and had many great twists and interesting + touching moments.
I'd say Turnabout Airline from Edgeworth's first game is my favourite. The setting, characters and case complexity were all perfect. Shoutouts to swiss rolls heaven later in the game!
I remember first playing this in seventh grade and immediately loving it, and still do almost 7 years later. So satisfying to see the breakdown of the guilty. (My favorite was Von Karma's).

Nothing from Investigations? I can understand leaving out AAI2 since it hasn't been *officially* localized (although the last 3 cases from it all easily deserve a spot here), but still. Not even an honourable mention for Ablaze or Reminiscence?
Klonoahedgehog ...This sentence is so wrong on so many levels. "Literally nothing good?" Are you, like, Dual Destinies hater Number 1 or something? 1. Emotional impacts. This case has a lot of them. Well, depends a bit on how much you like Athena. 2. Blown-Up courtroom. Best way to symbolise a broken law hands down. 3. Everything comes together. The plot-points might be a bit copied from previous cases, but they feel different enough to be enjoyable. 4. Apollo going up against Athena in court, because the truth is all that matters to him. Fleshed out his character so good. 5. Edgeworth. You might could call it "fanservice", but I really don't see a reason to introduce an entirely new prosecutor just in the final case. I think Phoenix facing him off after nine years and seeing how he's changed as th chief prosecutor was a nice touch. 6. Twist. Plus the Phantom. A man without any emotions is such a good culmination to Dual Destinies with all the emotional stuff and the possibilty to imitate anyone as if it was nothing was gorgeous. Not really the best villain, but definitely nowhere near the worst.
A number one this video was my favorite for a while. However when spirit of justice came out, the final case of that one became my favorite. It really brought Apollo‘s character development to a fitting conclusion. Also the awesome character that is Dhurke was also really good.
Honestly I loved Turnabout Storyteller, I know it's a filler case, but the characters and the story are just real good. Also, Turnabout Revolution. The only turnabout that ever brought tears to my eyes.
The Von Karma-Edgeworth case (4th case) from the first game is my No.1 Last case of Justice for All and Trails & Tribulations are a close No. 2 But seriously, when each case is so good, the honorable mentions simply don't feel like one. What a great game series!

Amazing that the number 10 case didn't get ranked higher. Kristoph was ALSO the first time you see black psyche locks, and fan theories abound that his breakdown at the end came from his locks being broken by force. But there ARE a lot of big cases so I understand it.

One of my all time favorite franchises, I honestly haven't played a case I didn't like. I remember when I realized that Fulbright was the Phantom, it gave me chills. One of the best examples of amazing writing in videogames, too bad it's a niche franchise while games that basically "Hollywoodize productions" get all the attention despite being no where near as expertly crafted.

They only counted games Nick was in, seeing as they completely skipped "Ace Attorney Investigations", and the original trilogy were all called "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" followed by the title of the game.
The Ace Attorney That wasn't what I meant and you know it. He was in the games in the same sense that Lotta and the DeLites cameoed in the second and first investigations games respectively, except you can actually walk up and listen to those three, which you can't do with Phoenix.

Pipo Zizo Both Moe and Ben/Trilo are extremely annoying. And Acro wasnt sympathetic at all, I mean his motivation is so messed up. "Regina didnt take my brother's injury seriously so i will kill her instead of having a conversation and explaining her the stuff" I mean she's a daughter of a man who he really respected and a girl his brother fell in love with. These games are amazing and highly underrated. The characters are amazing. The music always gives me chills. The English in some of the cut-scenes could use some work though. Side note: Spirit of Justice is my fav so far.

Perfectly agree with most of these cases, and most of the honorable mentions. Bridge to the Turnabout is *ALWAYS* going to be number 1 for me, it feels like it was meant to be the grand finale for the whole Ace Attorney franchise.
The number one case is fitting, best part imo is that it brought the dl-6 case's unanswered question to it's sad conclusion, the question being what happened to Misty Fey. That's the sad part is finding out EXACTLY what happened to that particular person as the number one case comes to it's conclusion.

There was zero chance this list was ever going to end in anything other than Bridge to the Turnabout. An epic case that touched on many aspects of the trilogy, and had many great twists and interesting + touching moments.
The list was good, the honorable mentions were not.
I'd say Turnabout Airline from Edgeworth's first game is my favourite. The setting, characters and case complexity were all perfect.

I won't spoil anything but spirit of justice's final case is definitely number 1 for me.
I remember first playing this in seventh grade and immediately loving it, and still do almost 7 years later. So satisfying to see the breakdown of the guilty. (My favorite was Von Karma's).

Nothing from Investigations? I can understand leaving out AAI2 since it hasn't been *officially* localized (although the last 3 cases from it all easily deserve a spot here), but still. Not even an honourable mention for Ablaze or Reminiscence?
I suppose that Succession is actually a "nail-biting" case if you understand what I mean...

There is literally nothing in that case that is good.
Klonoahedgehog ...This sentence is so wrong on so many levels. "Literally nothing good?" Are you, like, Dual Destinies hater Number 1 or something?
1. Emotional impacts. This case has a lot of them. Well, depends a bit on how much you like Athena.
2. Blown-Up courtroom. Best way to symbolise a broken law hands down.
3. Everything comes together. The plot-points might be a bit copied from previous cases, but they feel different enough to be enjoyable.
4. Apollo going up against Athena in court, because the truth is all that matters to him. Fleshed out his character so good.
5. Edgeworth. You might could call it "fanservice", but I really don't see a reason to introduce an entirely new prosecutor just in the final case. I think Phoenix facing him off after nine years and seeing how he's changed as th chief prosecutor was a nice touch.
6. Twist. Plus the Phantom. A man without any emotions is such a good culmination to Dual Destinies with all the emotional stuff and the possibilty to imitate anyone as if it was nothing was gorgeous. Not really the best villain, but definitely nowhere near the worst.
A number one this video was my favorite for a while. However when spirit of justice came out, the final case of that one became my favorite. It really brought Apollo‘s character development to a fitting conclusion. Also the awesome character that is Dhurke was also really good.

Honestly I loved Turnabout Storyteller, I know it's a filler case, but the characters and the story are just real good. Also, Turnabout Revolution. The only turnabout that ever brought tears to my eyes.

Or The Inherited Turnabout and The Grand Turnabout in AAI2, the most compelling cases in all of Ace Attorney. You play as freaking Gregory Edgeworth! Playing the case that led to Von Karma's penalty and DL-6 is purely the most compelling non-final case in Ace Attorney
Farewell is certainly the strongest standalone case. Strong as Bridge is, it loses a lot of impact without the buildup on the rest of the trilogy.
I do like them, but they're kinda overrated.

Amazing that the number 10 case didn't get ranked higher. Kristoph was ALSO the first time you see black psyche locks, and fan theories abound that his breakdown at the end came from his locks being broken by force. But there ARE a lot of big cases so I understand it.

I don't hate Big Top I also liked it but it's not for honorable mentions.
One of my all time favorite franchises, I honestly haven't played a case I didn't like. I remember when I realized that Fulbright was the Phantom, it gave me chills. One of the best examples of amazing writing in videogames, too bad it's a niche franchise while games that basically "Hollywoodize productions" get all the attention despite being no where near as expertly crafted.
I would have called it top 10 Ace Attorney Cases, since Ace Attorney is the series name not Phoenix Wright ^^" =_= so WatchMojo double check your case before doing the same thing again.

They only counted games Nick was in, seeing as they completely skipped "Ace Attorney Investigations", and the original trilogy were all called "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" followed by the title of the game.

The Ace Attorney That wasn't what I meant and you know it. He was in the games in the same sense that Lotta and the DeLites cameoed in the second and first investigations games respectively, except you can actually walk up and listen to those three, which you can't do with Phoenix.

It's by far the best Phoenix Wright game, you finally beat the main antagonist for that specific set of games, the characters are amazing, and the story was suspenseful throughout it all. Definitely would be at the top of my list too!

Both Moe and Ben/Trilo are extremely annoying. And Acro wasnt sympathetic at all, I mean his motivation is so messed up. "Regina didnt take my brother's injury seriously so i will kill her instead of having a conversation and explaining her the stuff" I mean she's a daughter of a man who he really respected and a girl his brother fell in love with. No, just no.
That's ONE way of putting it, but there is a lot more to it, I'm just too lazy to explain right now.

PW 6 case 3 was really really good imo, i did not expect the outcome and it tied in to the story really well
I think this ranking is really good... and in my opinion, the top ten cases are these.. but with Spirit of Justice released... i think that Turnabout Revolution is in the top 3... what a great case and great evolution of Apollo in the AA saga !!
Damnn... This game changed my life, and the top 3 most life-changing/mind-blowing cases are 1. Rise from the Ashes, 2. Farewell My Turnabout, and 3. Reunion and Turnabout. You know what, it's impossible to rank them, they're all incredible
The last case in the newest AA6 is fucking amazing and might very well earn the top spot if this video is made after its NA release.

Perfectly agree with most of these cases, and most of the honorable mentions. Bridge to the Turnabout is *ALWAYS* going to be number 1 for me, it feels like it was meant to be the grand finale for the whole Ace Attorney franchise.
I have a feeling that if this list was uploaded today, Turnabout Revolution would be in the top 3.
The number one case is fitting, best part imo is that it brought the dl-6 case's unanswered question to it's sad conclusion, the question being what happened to Misty Fey. That's the sad part is finding out EXACTLY what happened to that particular person as the number one case comes to it's conclusion.

I loved Turnabout Revolution (Spirit of Justice) the best. But that game hadn't been released in Japan, let alone America/Europe, at the time of this video's publishing.
