ive seen tatum mature during these playoffs. he used to be almost as bad as luka when it came to whining at the refs but hes gotten way better at it and in the finals he's been getting hacked on his way to the basket and hes just been running back on d. its amazing and its not being talked about enough.
He still complains but it’s definitely a lot better now , he basically just looks at home and then gets back on the defense. We can’t afford techs or non hustle and Tatum knows it

Make no mistake the mavs mad a couple of defensive adjustments that worked but its so much easier to play interior defense when you can trip, kick and hack and not get called for a foul. I havent seen tatum complain for a while (moreso brown) and i saw them complaining alot. Jrue never complains and he complained. You know its that bad of a rig. Pretty much reduced the celtics to a "make your jumpers or lose" kind of team and they missed. They couldnt get into the paint last night without getting hacked, tripped or kicked. Thats what d-live and kidd figured out. Hopefully we get better refs for G5 as that was pathetic officiating.
I think the biggest factor in Boston’s success is Tatum being the key playmaker and ball handler. He’s really stepped up as a leader and it hurts to say but i thought from the start that moving Smart was the right choice to take this leap. Smart’s still Forever Green☘️

A lot of the "analysts" just missed how deep this team is. Boston didn't have The Guy like the Mavs did because they didn't need one. If Tatum's shot wasn't falling, he didn't have to keep forcing it. He could focus on rebounding, passing and defending and allow any one of Brown, Jrue, KP or White take over. We had five guys on that team that were all very legitimate 20 point threats on any given night and then an outlier like Horford who got hot when it was most needed. I think that's why everyone slept so much on Boston. We didn't have a single clutch player because we had 3-4 guys that could be relied upon to score in the clutch, which made us more dangerous because there wasn't one guy you could key in on.
Honestly, it's the limiting of constant careless unnecessary turnovers from the entire team that I feel is the most responsible for their success. Yes with Jrue being a big part of that with only 1.3 turnovers per game.
If the Celtics had an easy path to the finals then the GMs in the East need to better. What do Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Tre Young, Tyrese Haliburton, Damian Lillard, Tyler Herro & Jalen Brunson all have in common? Guards who play ONE side of the ball... these types of dudes should go the way of the running back as a complete team like Boston will just hunt the shit out of them on defense, but dopey teams will still pay 40m a year for these guys. FYI Porzingis was out the entire playoffs basically and because the Celtics have this little thing called depth they still won handily. One of the greatest teams ever witnessed.. time to run it back.

A 60+ win team is supposed to have an easy schedule in the playoffs. They did the work in the regular season to reap the benefits.
First round easy, possibly. Skip the play-in, that's nice. But the Conference and NBA finals will never be an easy series any year.
