The Media LOVES a superstar “face of the league” type player for a team. Since MJ, they want a Kobe, or LeBron, etc… this Celtics team is more like the 2000s Spurs. In any given night, Ginobli, Parker, or Duncan could be your best player. They were a hell of a team.

But people want to make this Celtics team out to be the Shaq-Kobe Lakers but they are more akin to the 2004 Detroit Pistons, solid at every position. Holiday, White and Porzingis are all out playing Irving (as are Tatum and Brown). The Celtics are simply a lot deeper than Dallas. As for the Bucks, the traded Holiday to the West Coast. They should have done a three team deal to insure he stayed there but they were too anxious to get a deal done.

They have all the makings of a team that's gonna be competing for chips for years to come but even as a Celtics fan I'm gonna say it's a bit early for dynasty talk with this group, let's get one first. I'm taking nothing away from them, this has been an incredible run but they def had a much easier than normal walk through the east and were fortunate to draw Dallas in the Finals. I was hoping we'd get the Mavs as we match up well against them. Denver, or even Minnesota, would have presented more matchup problems imo. Here's to hoping we get it done in game 4 but every season is a new chapter. If and when we do win the rest of the NBA is gonna be trying to construct rosters and game plans to beat the Cs and it'll be the first time this group has the main target on their backs.

The best thing the Celtics did was get rid of Marcus Smart, I remember so many games in the past few years where he would think he was the star player, and take all the late game shots. Now that he’s gone, the offense runs a lot smoother. Holiday is major upgrade
As a Celtics fan, I still have a soft spot for Smart because he was such a hustle player but Jrue is head and shoulders better player. Offensively and defensively.

Last night was a prime example of them not being able to do much on offense Dallas had like a 30 to 4 run or something to get back in the game and then Luka fouled out, but this team is so deep and defensive minded that they are very hard to beat

I admit that I doubted the Celtics based on Tatum and Brown's play in the 2022 finals. I thought those two would come up small in these finals. I thought wrong. I thought wrong because, not only did I not give them enough credit, I didn't give the rest of their team enough credit. The Celtics have earned my respect; Tatum and Brown have earned my respect.
No one in boston had any worry about dallas. They have not beaten boston in 2 years. Luka brings the ball up with his slow feet celts set up and wait. Easy peesy.

With the clip at 5:00 with Barkley, he was right when talking about that particular game that the Celtics were playing against the Pacers and it was only at half as well. There were still some times throughout the playoffs that they weren’t moving the ball as well as they could, but luckily as a Celtics fan that has not been the case this series with the Mavs
I believe during this season. They had 1 in-season game where they put together one of if not the most efficient stretch of 4 quarters ever played in nba history. This shows that their potential as currently constructed barring injury is actually unmatched by any nba team today.

Each and every year both players have improved, in shot selection, passing, and defense. This shows how much analysts actually know about sports. Just because you like someone doesn’t mean they are a shoe in for a win. Boston has a cohesive team that isn’t selfish and they play well together. Dallas didn’t beat Boston in the regular season and not one analyst brought that up. Boston all the way.
The narrative all season about the Celtics was about their failures in the 2022 and 2023 playoffs, losing in the Finals and then in the ECF. Somehow, everyone forgot that the Celtics had to win three series to get to the finals in 2022 and two more in 2023. They had a 5-2 playoff series record in those two postseasons. Getting to the 2024 Finals, that made it 8-2 over three seasons, with one more series to go.
I get that people weren't convinced of the Celtics before the playoffs started because of their previous playoff struggles. But throughout these 2024 playoffs especially in ECF. Yeah they were playing a bit down to there competition but they won 3 games that were incredibly close. Games they wouldnt lost any other season. That was the only question I had for them so when they did that I was confident they would win even without KP. And as for Tatum, remember players of the caliber of Tatum and JB don't fully develop until 27-28. Guess how old Brown is? 27. Tatum is having the type of Finals scoring wise Lebron had in 2011 yet unilke Bron he didn't fully disappear. Don't be suprised if next year after this Tatum (who will be 27 next year for the playoffs) "levels" up. Even if he doesn't this team is going to be up there as favorites.
I am a Bulls fan, I hate the Celtics. But when it came to choosing who would win, it seemed so obvious that the question didn't need to be asked. And then suddenly everyone was picking Dallas to the point that I really started questioning if I had missed something. The Celtics were healthier, had better scorers, multiple elite perimeter defenders, and at the time were getting Porzingis back. It wasn't just the NBA media, as polls on youtube were 70% for the Mavs.
This finals made me realize a lot of people either don't have a personal opinion and go with the general flow or stay silent until they can fight for a point, it is both funny and frustrating at the same time lol

Back when the Celtics lost in the finals, with Tatum and brown, i knew the only question mark was whether they would be given the time necessary to perfect their offensive rotations. That question has been answered. And I suspect that they will dominate the east for the next couple of years to come. I’m thinking 3 to 5. Which is wild. I’m a laker fan. But what they have done is made an all star team with a player in each of the 5 positions capable of playing together regardless of personal differences. And the fact that they are all mostly either young or are just hitting their prime excluding al horfred(hope I spelled that right) is truly exciting to watch.

I don't understand how anyone who watches basketball could believe this after watching the season. I think people still see "stars" and their numbers and ignore everything else. Just like with politics sometimes I feel like "is anyone else seeing what I'm seeing?". The Celtic's team was suffocating. They played down to teams at times and had bad shooting nights, but those were rare. I watched that Mavericks team all year. They weren't that great outside of their stars. The coaching was meh. The Pacers were a pretty damn good team that would have destroyed them. I just don't get how that isn't obvious to anyone watching.

They have all the makings of a team that's gonna be competing for chips for years to come but even as a Celtics fan I'm gonna say it's a bit early for dynasty talk with this group, let's get one first. I'm taking nothing away from them, this has been an incredible run but they def had a much easier than normal walk through the east and were fortunate to draw Dallas in the Finals. I was hoping we'd get the Mavs as we match up well against them. Denver, or even Minnesota, would have presented more matchup problems imo. Here's to hoping we get it done in game 4 but every season is a new chapter. If and when we do win the rest of the NBA is gonna be trying to construct rosters and game plans to beat the Cs and it'll be the first time this group has the main target on their backs.

The best thing the Celtics did was get rid of Marcus Smart, I remember so many games in the past few years where he would think he was the star player, and take all the late game shots. Now that he’s gone, the offense runs a lot smoother. Holiday is major upgrade

I admit that I doubted the Celtics based on Tatum and Brown's play in the 2022 finals. I thought those two would come up small in these finals. I thought wrong. I thought wrong because, not only did I not give them enough credit, I didn't give the rest of their team enough credit. The Celtics have earned my respect; Tatum and Brown have earned my respect.

The Celtics have been on the cusp of winning for awhile now, they been the best team in the league, and they added Holiday and Porzingis who both were amazing on their previous teams. I'm really shocked people are surprised by this. Boston is clearly the best team in the league far and above the rest. Mavs have been and still are the underdogs. If they get swept i'm honestly not surprised.

With the clip at 5:00 with Barkley, he was right when talking about that particular game that the Celtics were playing against the Pacers and it was only at half as well. There were still some times throughout the playoffs that they weren’t moving the ball as well as they could, but luckily as a Celtics fan that has not been the case this series with the Mavs

Each and every year both players have improved, in shot selection, passing, and defense. In fact the same applies to the role players, Payton Pritchard, Sam Houser, etc. I hope this unit can remain together for as long as is possible.

This shows how much analysts actually know about sports. Just because you like someone doesn’t mean they are a shoe in for a win. Boston has a cohesive team that isn’t selfish and they play well together. Dallas didn’t beat Boston in the regular season and not one analyst brought that up. Boston all the way.
The narrative all season about the Celtics was about their failures in the 2022 and 2023 playoffs, losing in the Finals and then in the ECF. Somehow, everyone forgot that the Celtics had to win three series to get to the finals in 2022 and two more in 2023. They had a 5-2 playoff series record in those two postseasons. Getting to the 2024 Finals, that made it 8-2 over three seasons, with one more series to go.
I get that people weren't convinced of the Celtics before the playoffs started because of their previous playoff struggles. But throughout these 2024 playoffs especially in ECF. Yeah they were playing a bit down to there competition but they won 3 games that were incredibly close. Games they wouldnt lost any other season. That was the only question I had for them so when they did that I was confident they would win even without KP. And as for Tatum, remember players of the caliber of Tatum and JB don't fully develop until 27-28. Guess how old Brown is? 27. Tatum is having the type of Finals scoring wise Lebron had in 2011 yet unilke Bron he didn't fully disappear. Don't be suprised if next year after this Tatum (who will be 27 next year for the playoffs) "levels" up. Even if he doesn't this team is going to be up there as favorites.
I am a Bulls fan, I hate the Celtics. But when it came to choosing who would win, it seemed so obvious that the question didn't need to be asked. And then suddenly everyone was picking Dallas to the point that I really started questioning if I had missed something. The Celtics were healthier, had better scorers, multiple elite perimeter defenders, and at the time were getting Porzingis back. It wasn't just the NBA media, as polls on youtube were 70% for the Mavs.
This finals made me realize a lot of people either don't have a personal opinion and go with the general flow or stay silent until they can fight for a point, it is both funny and frustrating at the same time lol

Back when the Celtics lost in the finals, with Tatum and brown, i knew the only question mark was whether they would be given the time necessary to perfect their offensive rotations. That question has been answered. And I suspect that they will dominate the east for the next couple of years to come. I’m thinking 3 to 5. Which is wild. I’m a laker fan. But what they have done is made an all star team with a player in each of the 5 positions capable of playing together regardless of personal differences. And the fact that they are all mostly either young or are just hitting their prime excluding al horfred(hope I spelled that right) is truly exciting to watch.
What I found interesting was that people said Boston couldn't win because of all the iso ball...but then no one mentioned that the Mavs play significantly more iso than the Celtics.

I don't understand how anyone who watches basketball could believe this after watching the season. I think people still see "stars" and their numbers and ignore everything else. Just like with politics sometimes I feel like "is anyone else seeing what I'm seeing?". The Celtic's team was suffocating. They played down to teams at times and had bad shooting nights, but those were rare. I watched that Mavericks team all year. They weren't that great outside of their stars. The coaching was meh. The Pacers were a pretty damn good team that would have destroyed them. I just don't get how that isn't obvious to anyone watching.
