16:55 the nickname "The terror of Morocco" comes from his time in the French foreign legion. It has said that he was a fearless warrior in Morocco. Also a fun fact: his brother Ilmari Juutilainen was the most succesful non-german fighter pilot ace with 94 aerial victories. Legendary brothers.

Another thing about bodies, all the russians that died in that war was burried by the finnish side. That was a part of the agreement when this war ended. The loosing side had to bury the russian soldiers. And there where about 127.000 of them on the russian side. They still rest in the forrests and russia wants nothing to do with them,

As a nurse it’s crazy the miracles I’ve seen when we tried everything medically possible. I had an 80 year old lady who would completely lose her pulse and lose consciousness then by the time I called a code she will wake up wondering what the problem was and apologizing for it. She did that like 5 times before the doc took her to surgery to fix the problem. Just absolutely nuts!

Thanks for a great video. The "amfetamin"/Pervitin soldier was also Finnish😅. The numbers are even higher than in this video. According to Simo and many historians he killed 542 enemies with his rifle and 200-300 with his Suomi sub machine gun. So the total number is over 700 enemies. He was asked what he felt when killing people? He said he only killed enemies and the only thing he felt was recoil. Aarne Juutilainen is also worth of a video. And "the Soldier of three armies" Lauri Törni or Larry Thorne in the US special forces.

Finno-Scandinavia = add Finland used to be part of Sweden (our brothers and sisters in the east)
Nordics = Add Iceland, Greenland, Svalbard.
Heavily influenced by Vikings + Royal rule over different areas.

And yet Britain gave the world the Christmas animation classic 'The Snowman'. The Winter War lasted 105 days. Regarding the Battle of Kollaa, in which Häyhä fought and which encapsulated the Spirit of Winter War. One Finnish division fought against four Soviet divisions. At the beginning of the battle around 15 900 Soviets fought against 3 000 Finns. Estimated 1 300 Finns and 8 000 Soviets were killed in that battle. In the most active day the Soviet artillery fired 30 000-40 000 shells to Finnish positions, to which Finns could return fire with less than 1000 shells. In the end the Finns were so few in numbers and exhausted, that while one was sleeping in a sitting position, another was firing riffle using his shoulder as a stand.

In Switzerland it's normal to see soldiers in civilian life carrying automatic weapons...which they keep at home (including reservists).
In the UK gun ownership is very restricted, but not at all impossible.

The Finnish are not part of Scandinavia. Historins believe they people of Finland, Sweeden, and Norway migrated to those regions around 9,000 years ago. But as being Danish myself I can say that Scandinavian is more than just a location. It's rooted in the Heritage. In this case it comes a lot from Viking Heritage. And from my understanding the Finnish never adopted the Viking Culture. Though I think they would have made some great Vikings.

What is not mentioned in this video is that this all happened during a period of 3 1/2 months time. So he killed 500+ russians in a time span of 3 1/2 months. And also this winter was the coldest in a long time. And as Simo was out during his sniping missions for hours and hours and the temprature was around -40 degrees celcius. That is twice as cold as your normal freezer you have in your home. And imagine just to lie for hours in that cold snow and ice with those weather conditions for so many hours a day and still do what he did. Incrediblle.
This is also why he used iron sights. The cold would just fog the scope and also he did not want the enemy snipers to be able to se any sun glare in the lenses of his scope. Because that was how he found so many of the enemy snipers. This video says he did not just go for the officers but anyone in a russian uniform but he actually did pick off the officers first if he could. He kmew that would bring chaos among the russian soldiers. At night he learned that when they attacked the russian camps he always shot the men that was smoking first because they where most likely officers. The normal russian soldiers could not afford cigarettes only the officers could. Simo was a smart and very competent soldier.

Now if you wanna make some jabs at Finnish friends you could always call it east Sweden. Altough i dont recommend you doing that face to face with a Finn unless you know them really well and is on friendly terms at which point you will just get a lot of insults your way usually stuff about how weak everyone else is. Anyways as someone raised on the border to Finland i rather like the Finns and the mindset of the far north of Sweden is very similar to the Finns in many ways.

I’m 37 but todays years old when I found out the uk has winter at the same time we do in the usa I thought that the earth tilted in a way where we where further away and got cold while tilting them closer and they got you know warmer……. Well color me dumbfounded

...Both the US and the UK are in the northern hemisphere, so they have seasons at the same time. Places like Australia or Brazil that are in the southern hemisphere have their seasons at the opposite time. You were both horribly mistaken and kinda on the right track.

Scandinavia is only 3 countries Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The others with Finland are grouped with them as "Nordic countries". The vikings are also foreign to Finns and had battles with them in the past as well with the ancestors of Russians. Finland was basically always the battleground and meatshield between Scandinavians and Russians.

    • @pistonburner6448
      @pistonburner6448 6 днів тому

Not exactly. AFAIK in many regions of what is now Finland they were Vikings...especially on the west coast and archipelago. Throughout history western Finland has been very connected to and co-mingled with Swedes.

Winston Churchill, with clear regret, declared war on Finland on 7 December 1941. Poor little Finland had to fight against whole world by it self. Stupid Sweden didn't even help little Finland,so sad, so bad.

Ranges are awesome, but starting with any Mossin or Mauser rifle sounds like a bad idea... that's probably you were shit with those.
Very heavy for an untrained person and the kickback was insane.
Try something more modern, lighter, but not .22 xD Even my little sister told me it felt like shooting a stronger single shot air rifle.
