Hi, black beans and pork are very common in Brazil, they are actually our national dish, it's called feijoada, it's very good, I'm sure you'll like it.
Omg! The wandering chicken-child -- had me laughing out loud so much that my 20 year old son asked me if I was OK! Your videos never disappoint! And those soups look delicious! I've made applesauce from my own apple trees and you're right, the flavor is on a totally different level. Yum!
I just love your channel! It’s hard to find a southern homestead channel that has content that relates to my families values. Good job momma! it’s some serious to work at a scale that you do, while you manage a home. Great motivation for me.
It’s just superior quality food that you are putting into those jars and feeding to your family. You are a beautiful woman and a gift to your family!!! So many skills and talents and you put forth a lot of effort to get this done!! I value hard work and your kids are great helpers!!
Your kitchen, house, pantry and children are amazing. Cam is wonderful helping you like he does. You are awesome with everything you do. I am in awe of you. Bless you all.
Just tuned in. Despite the neverending chores at home, your energy is legendary. I like the positivity in your videos of a family united in getting things done. You are an inspiration and example to what women can achieve!
Seriously my favorite UA-camr(s) even better with your helper demonstrating and the kid chicken 😂 love it! Thanks for sharing I learn so much and get so motivated by you!
OMG! half spiting, big gulping my drink and laughing so hard, when the chicken video bombs. hehehe your garden is my goals. Thank you so much for your content and information.
To help burny splatters on your hands - just wear dishwashing gloves. They’re a little thicker than traditional latex gloves and I find I can handle the jars/boiling water/boiling mixture without any harm!
Your steam juicer can also be a game changer for making applesauce. Wash your apples, remove any stems, quarter, remove any bad spots, don't peel or core. Just fill your steamer basket all the way upand put the lid on. crank up the heat. As soon an the apples start to soften, just before the juice starts to run, turn off the heat. I like to let it cool for a little while before putting it through my Sqieezo Strainer, which is much like the strainer you used on your grapes. I usually put the apple pulp through twice. Some people let the juice run out before they strain, but I find it robs the sauce of flavor. I usually can in pints now that the kids are all grown. Then waterbath for 15 min. I hope you find this an easier way.
Hi! I have been following your channel for awhile now and I love it! I also have been following Laura from the Garden Answer channel for years and she mentioned you today! She made grape juice and referenced your channel. It made me so happy! 💕💕💕🙂🙂🙂🍇🍇🍇
I just quarter my apples, and cook them, and then run them through the Victorio strainer. It takes out the seeds and any other hard parts, and then you can use all the apple around the core. Much faster too, than running it through the apple corer/slicer/peeler.
I love that you use the whole apple! I've always worried about the seeds clogging it up. That happened to me with the grapes before I bought the special grape spiral. Once I got that I had no problems. Do the apple seeds go through easily?
That juicer is incredible. I need me one of those. Have you ever thought of getting a water bath steamer? It’s way better than water bath canning. It’s called a fruit steamer, you get it from Amazon and you never have to fill a giant pot of water to water bath jam or anything else as long as you live. I will never ever water bath can again for the rest of my natural born life. Game changer. You guys need two. Trust me, even though I’m a stranger.😊
@@jenniferdruery8661 I wasted so much time and water do it with a big pot of water on the stove. It takes so darn long for the water to come to a boil. I can do two in the time it takes to do one, and so much more efficient. I almost want to start a UA-cam channel just to spread the steamer love 💗
These Juicers are very common in Finland, usually every household has one. They are often used to make for example blackcurrant juice. The grape juice sure looks delicious!
I just love how calm you are because of you I've decided to move from Canada to Zimbabwe my great great parents are from there and I've decided to live in a warm weather country I'm currently building an off grid house and I'm planning to copy what you guys do so wish me luck I'm also planning on helping the locals with solar power and offer them some equipment to make things easier for them they already grow their own food but I would love to make things quick and easy so keep inspiring the masses you're doing God's work
I love my steam juicer! I just finished my grapes a couple weeks ago. I also use it for peaches, pears, plums, currants and apples. So,times I like to mix two fruits like apples and grapes. I use a stool to hold my jars. We will mix it with sprite or sparkling water for a fun “punch” during the holidays.
To use your induction stove you could possibly use a disc of about 1/8” thick sheet steel cut to the diameter of the bottom of your aluminum pressure to place underneath it. You can also use scraps of the same thickness sheet steel laid out underneath it, this can make it easier to handle and more economical. Be sure to debut the steel.
Cowpeas, oh delicious.....CHICKEN?! WAIT IS THAT A CHICKEN?! IT IS!! 🤣😂🤣😂 That was hilarious! You and your family are such characters! Reminds me of our family, we are fun and silly like that too! Thank you for all of the great recipes! Soups are always more delicious and comforting during colder months. ❤️❤️
I am wondering about the level you fill your jars. I fill mine to one inch below the top of the jar. Am l filling them too full? LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel and your family. I feel like I'm home when l watch your videos. Thank you so much for your hard work which inspires me. I did my best garden this year all because of you, and preserved almost all of it. Blessings to you and your wonderful family.
No, not too full, just follow what the recipe says! I did mine a little lower for soups they often say a "generous inch", so I do inch and a half on the soups because of the high fat in the meat. The National Center for Home Food Preservation says this is OK to do.
Im curious for why the steam juice and not just straight juicing? It makes sense for making grape jelly :) They look so good! mmm apple sauce! Thanks for reminding us to freeze our prepped vegetables, and to can! We are working on getting a garden started so we can plant in the spring. Im learning so much from your channel on preserving and how much to grow! Thank you so much for sharing all that you do you are so inspiring! God Bless!
Oh my goodness those soups look delicious! Your children helping you in garden and preserving is wonderful! You are teaching them skills they will take with them for the rest of their lives and making good memories at the same time. You are one of the hardest working families on the internet! Great job guys!! I would like to know where you get those beautiful old fashioned aprons? I love those!

I love watching your preserving videos!! It's great to watch the whole family work together. I was thinking I had enough applesauce preserved, but I realized, I made it flavored by adding strawberries and blueberries to it. I don't have many plain. I'm thinking I should go to the orchard this weekend after all and get some just for that.
@@nicolehaley7723 i really don’t. I just made the applesauce like normal and then add blueberries and strawberries and sugar and based it on color and taste.
That steamer pot really does look handy. We don't do juices yet, but when we do this will have to be on the list. I think I need the food mill first. Pressing tomatoes through a strainer for sauce is really annoying. Everything looks so good. I might have to try some of these. I wear standard vinyl cleaning gloves to avoid getting shot with hot foot when canning. Works well and easy to replace if they get a hole. I have also used very thin fingerless gloves bc it tends to splatter on my wrist area not fingers.
Interesting to see you add only a quarter of the sugar content that the recipe suggests - it would be nice to see the 'professional' cooks/chefs do the same. I've been using a quarter (or less sometimes) of sugar in all (but one) of the recipes I use and it tastes so much better.
You can skip the coring. my whole family just cuts and cooks them down. I always add three or four different kinds of apples. very yummy, i've never added sugar. I have the same processor you do. it works wonderful. but maybe you can cook more at the same time.
I have to say great job on all that canning! I tried pressure canning (pumpkin) about a month ago and it was a big fail 🙃 I don't think I blanched it correctly, because it became mushy and then there was a pumpkin color to the canning water so it somehow leaked from the jars. The water level seemed low in all the jars afterward. I also pinched a jar lifting it out and air started escaping which scared me. I ended up feeding it all to the chickens. I could have freezed it but after processing it for 90 min it didn't even resemble the beautiful pumpkin I started with (a candy roaster squash) and since I still have a few I grew I decided to just use it fresh. But holy cow, the time it takes for all that, prepping jars, peeling squash, monitoring the canner to make sure it stays at the correct lbs and most of all destroying my kitchen 😂 I am going to seriously contemplate whether or not I need to can or freeze my produce.
You might be able to use aluminium pots on the induction stovetop if you put a copper or steel plate under the top. Then the plate will heat up and transfer the heat, it's not the most efficient method, but it should work
