This is probably my favourite performance of hers. Such a powerful voice and wonderful lyrics. When I watch her sing this and then think about what happened to her in the end..brings tears to my eyes.
At the very end at about 3.58 her facial expression changes from being totally involved in the song to looking almost relieved to be released from the intensity the pain and despair of the lyrics
This was a young lady who tried to tell through this song the dangers of what she had/was going through. Listen to what she is singing, watch her emotion and actions at parts of the song. Most importantly!. Watch at the end of the song, it is only the applause that brings her back to reality. Lena was telling a story, a real story for those who want to listen.but back then, no one would have understood, (they still don't) , she ended up giving up the Ghost and committed suicide. So Please Listen to what she is trying to say!. Lena, won a singing contest at the age of 12 on a programme called 'Opportunity Knocks'. She lived on an island and her Parents did not know the dangers of the Industry. Because of her win, it was advised that she live on the mainland with a couple belonging to the music industry, and her Parents unwittingly allowed it because Lena insisted (God Bless her Innocence). The rest is History. As i said, Listen to what Lena is trying to say in this song. We now know the abuse that goes on in these industries and they had cart blanche with this child.
I totally get that story....you can also see it in her eyes...and feel it. You can clearly see her come back to Earth with the applause at the end. R.I.P. Such a lovely girl.
